Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Remembrance of Fei Xiao

"Rain" fell, soaking the four of them, yet they remained as motionless as statues.

Fei Xiao was inwardly bewildered, wondering if her performance had been poor.

It might have been a bit chuunibyou, but in this setting, wasn't it cool to show off her strength on a whim? Please, someone say something! Was she about to die of social embarrassment? Had her only attempt at being extroverted in two lifetimes been wasted like this?

While Fei Xiao was having a mental storm, the brains of the other three had effectively crashed.

Although they knew Fei Xiao was no ordinary person—after all, monsters had descended, so having some Psychic powers was acceptable—this display had completely shattered their worldviews and slapped them in the face with the fragments; they simply couldn't process it.

The power was terrifying; even from such a distance, the force of that arrow had nearly blown them away.

If they knew that hadn't even been Fei Xiao's full power, they probably would have been unable to accept it even more.

The "rain" stopped, and the smile on Fei Xiao's face vanished.

"Um, why aren't you saying anything?"

The three finally came to their senses and looked at the "monster" before them.

Fei Xiao stared into their shocked eyes; she finally felt a sense of achievement.

Jiao Xiaoyan looked at Fei Xiao in horror. "Fei Xiao, are you really not a monster?"

Fei Xiao felt helpless at her words; after all, she truly was no longer human.

But... even though she knew it was just a joke, why did she feel so uneasy?

Staring directly into their shocked, fearful, and terrified eyes...

"Fei Xiao, you have betrayed the Alliance's trust. Your actions are no different from those abominations."

"You are, after all, flowing with the blood of an abomination."

"We are all monsters born to fight and die in battle."

"Fei Xiao? Fei Xiao? Are you alright?" Zhou Long and the others watched as Fei Xiao stood motionless with an unnatural expression; her mood seemed off.

They failed to notice a faint Haze seeping out from behind Fei Xiao.

Fei Xiao seemed to drift into a trance, and upon hearing someone call her, she subconsciously murmured.

"Ah, we are so similar—monsters born to fight and die in battle."

Jiao Xiaoyan finally panicked, shaking Fei Xiao's arm as she called out again. "Fei Xiao, are you alright? Don't scare us!"

This time, Fei Xiao finally came to her senses, quickly steadying her mind as she replied.

"I'm fine, I just zoned out for a moment."

"Fei Xiao, are you really okay? Did I say something wrong just now?" Although she hadn't clearly heard what Fei Xiao had muttered, she wasn't stupid and realized she seemed to have said the wrong thing.

"I'm really fine. Let's continue with our previous topic." Fei Xiao had returned to normal; she was a bit confused, but decided to dwell on it later.

There was definitely something wrong with Fei Xiao just now, and she seemed to have said something, but seeing that she didn't want to bring it up, they let it go.

"By the way, Miss Fei Xiao, is the ability you just displayed... like the superpowers or cultivation from novels?" Yang Lingfeng asked, taking the lead to change the subject.

"This is one of my abilities. However, it is an innate ability that I possess; in other words, while I can continue to train it, it is not a cultivation technique like those in novels."

Fei Xiao naturally knew what he meant; he simply wanted to know if humans could also possess such power.

Not to mention whether they could embark on the road of a Destiny Walker, it was still unknown whether Aeons existed in this world, so it was better to extinguish their hopes for now.

Besides, even if they truly embarked on a Destiny later, she would likely have already recovered her strength as an Emanator.

"Is that so."

They couldn't help but feel disappointed upon hearing this; putting aside defending the country, who wouldn't want the ability to fly or travel through the earth? That would be incredibly cool.

"Is there really no way, Sister Fei Xiao?" Jiao Xiaoyan asked, clenching her hands in excitement, her heart filled with longing. Just kidding—Fei Xiao's move from earlier had been so cool! She really wanted to show off in front of her dad and the others after getting back!

Fei Xiao spread her hands helplessly. "I, for one, have no way."

"Alright, let's get back to the point. Sister Fei Xiao, do you mean that Pokémon also possess power like yours?" Zhou Long could tell what the girl was thinking; although he was also yearning for it, he decided to end the topic.

Jiao Xiaoyan knew the importance of the matter and didn't say anything more, though she had already decided to ask Fei Xiao later if she had any ideas.

"Yes, Miss Fei Xiao, please continue with your thoughts." Yang Lingfeng was curious as well. The strength Fei Xiao had displayed was indeed formidable, but it probably wasn't enough to change their perspective. After all, their brothers had already died, and surrendering just because the enemy was powerful was not how people of the Dragon Kingdom should behave.

Fei Xiao naturally understood that this level of strength was insufficient; after all, as a last resort, humans still possessed "nuclear peace" bombs.

"That strike just now was about half of my strength. Many Pokémon can do the same, but there are even stronger existences; there are quite a few that can destroy the world or command the wind and rain. Are you sure you can contend with them?"

Fei Xiao was also using her Miracle Eye; after all, it was better to hide some of her strength while out and about.

However, these words had truly hit the mark.

That attack of Fei Xiao's hadn't even been her full power, and there were such terrifying Pokémon? At this point, they had no doubts. Even if Fei Xiao was hiding something, the strength she had displayed was real, and it was entirely possible that Pokémon with such power existed.

Fei Xiao was very satisfied to see their shock; she had displayed her strength to be more persuasive, and now it was time to drop another bombshell.

"Furthermore, what I mentioned before were just ordinary Pokémon. However, there are gods among Pokémon; if you anger them, it won't be just some minor skirmish."

Sure enough, as soon as these words were spoken, the three completely lost their composure, feeling utterly incredulous.

"What? Gods? How is that possible?"

"Sister Fei Xiao, are there really gods?"

The three looked at Fei Xiao, hoping to hear the answer they were dreading.

"That's right. Gods exist among Pokémon—these are the Legendary Pokémon. Their existence is extremely mysterious, but whenever one appears, it is never a simple matter."

"The power of Legendary Pokémon is absolutely world-destroying. For example, while Meloetta is not a Legendary Pokémon, as a Mythical Pokémon, its power is definitely not something humans can resist."

Fei Xiao gave them the answer they least wanted to hear.

At this moment, their normal understanding of reality was completely shattered.

The three of them were trembling slightly, still finding it hard to believe; how could such ethereal beings as gods truly exist?

But...

"Melo!"

By this time, Meloetta had woken up. It flew above their heads, then slowly drifted down to sit on Fei Xiao's shoulder.

Fei Xiao and the others noticed Meloetta's arrival and looked at the cute Pokémon on her shoulder.

"Melo?"

Meloetta, noticing that everyone was staring at it, looked puzzled.

Fei Xiao stroked Meloetta's little head and let it continue sitting on her shoulder.
