Chapter 3
Nehan's office was quiet, but the air felt heavy. His bodyguard hesitated at the door, shifting nervously.
"Any news about Lerah?" Nehan asked quietly, his voice calm but carrying an undercurrent of tension.
The bodyguard swallowed hard. "S-sir… we couldn't find anything. Zubii… she erased all traces before…"
Nehan's fingers clenched on the edge of the desk. His jaw tightened, but he didn't raise his voice. "I see," he murmured. The room seemed to grow colder.
"I… I'm sorry, sir," the guard stammered, fear flickering in his eyes.
Nehan leaned back, eyes darkening. "I asked for results. Do your job properly next time, or…" He let the threat hang in the air, unspoken but sharp.
The guard nodded rapidly, bowing. "Y-yes, sir. I understand."
Meanwhile, Naiiyraa paced her room, heart still heavy with memories of Zubii. Mimi noticed her friend's restless movements.
"Naiiyraa… you're thinking about Zubii again, aren't you?" Mimi asked softly.
Naiiyraa bit her lip. "I can't forget her… or what she sacrificed for me. And I know… Nehan saw her die. I can feel the anger and pain he carries… and I'm the one in the middle of it all."
Mimi placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You're not alone. We'll figure this out together."
Naiiyraa clenched her fists, whispering to herself: "I won't let Zubii's sacrifice go in vain… I'll survive, no matter what."
Her eyes hardened. "Even if it means facing Nehan himself…"
