Chapter 16: Honorary Knight (Part 2)
"That kind of filthy power clashes violently with the elemental energy within us, intertwining only to destroy each other."
"But… it's really strange. Little cutie can also wield elemental power, yet isn't affected at all."
Lumine remained silent. Haven't you guys ever seen someone who doesn't even use any elemental power but runs faster than anyone else?
Lisa spoke up: "Anyway, it's best to let the little cutie keep this crystal. It'll only bring us pain if we hold onto it ourselves."
Lumine nodded and carefully placed the crystal back into her bag.
Jean said, "Truly an incredible phenomenon… Lumine, do you have any inkling about this, or the peculiarities within yourself?"
Lumine shook her head slightly.
Jean sighed. "I thought so… But Su Han, you're also a traveler without a Vision, right?"
"I heard from Kaeya that he doesn't even need to manipulate Anemo to glide through the air—it's really extraordinary."
Su Han chuckled. "Perhaps all travelers from other worlds are like this? Possessing some inexplicable, special abilities."
Jean shook her head. "Some are, some aren't."
"Well then, Lumine, Su Han… this is the second unusual request from the Knights of Favonius."
"Please accept the title of Honorary Knight of the Knights of Favonius… along with the gratitude of the Acting Grand Master."
"And please, once again, assist us in uncovering the answers behind these mysteries."
Lumine's mouth opened slightly in surprise. "Honorary Knight?"
Paimon's eyes sparkled as she began daydreaming uncontrollably. "An Honorary Knight of… Mondstadt?! Hehehe, so much Mora running around…"
Su Han stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Sounds like a decent title, but I must ask to decline."
"Huh?" Jean's eyes reflected confusion and disbelief.
Su Han continued, "Do not misunderstand—declining the title doesn't mean I won't continue to help the Knights of Favonius."
"In truth, I prefer not to be bound by duties. I enjoy being a traveler, roaming freely, going wherever I please."
"Though I don't think Grand Master Jean is the type to bind others with responsibility. Still, I believe this Honorary Knight title would suit Lumine better."
Paimon pouted. "Hmm… then can't Paimon have it too…?"
Su Han shrugged. "Sure, Paimon can have it too."
Paimon leapt up, ecstatic. "Yay! Paimon is an Honorary Knight now!"
She flailed her arms, already imagining collecting protection fees as an official knight.
Lisa chuckled softly. Some of Su Han's thoughts coincided with hers; this little one is… quite interesting.
"Actually, I have one more unusual request."
"My companions Lumine, Paimon, and I are all visiting Mondstadt for the first time. We don't have extra Mora to rent a place. I wouldn't mind roughing it outdoors, but for a girl like Lumine…"
"Apologies. I neglected this matter. Regarding housing, the Knights of Favonius will handle it; you need not worry."
"As for Mora…"
"We'll figure out the Mora ourselves; no need for you to worry, Grand Master Jean," Lumine interrupted politely. She felt too embarrassed to demand so much from the Knights before resolving these matters.
"Thank you for your generosity, Grand Master Jean. We have no other requests," Su Han nodded in satisfaction.
Jean exhaled softly. "In that case, Lumine… would you accept becoming an Honorary Knight of the Knights of Favonius?"
Seeing Su Han decline so decisively, Lumine hesitated. This guy is sharp—this Honorary Knight thing won't be some troublesome title, will it?
It wasn't until Su Han gently nudged her that she nodded.
"This is my duty. I will accept the title of Honorary Knight and assist the Knights in uncovering the answers behind these mysteries."
Jean turned and produced a standard-issue longsword, handing it to Lumine.
Drawing the blade from its scabbard, Lumine noticed the wind emblem etched along its length, the hilt carved with eagle feathers, and the pommel shaped like a soaring eagle.
"The frenzied magic of dragons, the strange crystal… I believe the answers behind these events are tied to Mondstadt's peace."
"I present this Favonius Sword to our Honorary Knight. May the wind clear your eyes and help you see the truth."
"If you make any new discoveries, we will meet here again. If trouble arises, you may always come to me."
"The house arranged for you is next to Amber's residence. Later, I'll have her guide you there," Jean explained.
"I'm usually in the library. Any books you want to borrow are free, as long as you return them on time," Lisa added.
"What if we don't return them on time?" Paimon asked curiously.
"Hoo-hoo, then it becomes very troublesome for me—"
Miss Lisa's gentle laugh curved into a perfect smile, though whether it carried some hidden meaning remained unclear.
"Phew… that's scary," Paimon whimpered, diving into Lumine's arms.
…
After bidding farewell to Grand Master Jean and Lisa, Lumine pulled Su Han out of the Knights' hall.
Su Han advised, "Lumine, girls should be a little more reserved."
Lumine wrinkled her nose. "Do you think saying that will make me let go? I won't let you slip through my fingers."
"Tell me… what were you just about to say behind my back? Speak up. I promise I won't make it too painful for you."
Su Han turned his head guiltily. "Not now. Lumine, I have something interesting to show you."
Paimon's eyes lit up. "Wow, is it food?"
Su Han grinned. "No, something far more fun than food."
