Chapter 18: Naruto: You Want to Kill Me?
No matter how many things Kado promised, Zabuza remained unmoved. He just looked at him coldly, his gaze treating Kado like a dead man.
This made Kado gradually panic, so he quickly turned to look at Kakashi and the others.
"Hey, Konoha Ninja! No matter how much money that old man Tazuna gave you, I'll offer ten times the reward. As long as you abandon this mission and then take care of this guy Zabuza, I'll give you an extra one hundred million!"
"One hundred million!"
Uzumaki Naruto and Sakura were both a little surprised.
How many bowls of ramen could one hundred million buy?
How many clothes and bags could one hundred million buy?
"One hundred million is indeed a lot," Kakashi nodded, then immediately changed his tone, "But I refuse. I can't give up the mission just for money. After all, this concerns the reputation of our Konoha."
"..." Kado was stunned upon hearing this. After reacting, he quickly spoke up, "Right, right! Matters concerning Konoha's reputation cannot be done! How about this, I'll give up the market in the Land of Waves, so we won't be enemies anymore. Then, I will issue an S-rank mission to your Konoha to save me from Zabuza, with a mission reward of one hundred million!"
"Issuing a mission to Konoha requires following the legal procedure. Only after Konoha approves the review and assigns this mission to me can I accept it."
Kakashi spread his hands, indicating that although she really wanted the mission reward, she couldn't accept a mission that didn't follow legal procedures.
"You can privately accept my mission. That way, Konoha won't withhold a portion of the reward, and it will all be yours."
Kado quickly suggested.
"No way. This straightforward guy will definitely report this matter to Hokage-sama when we get back," Kakashi pointed at Naruto, looking helpless.
"Eh? Me?" Uzumaki Naruto was stunned, but he quickly reacted and nodded.
"It's very normal for you Ninja to have deaths on missions, especially when facing an S-rank missing-nin like Zabuza. After the mission is completed, I will give each of you an additional thirty million."
Kado finished speaking and even winked, hinting that they should kill the straightforward Uzumaki Naruto.
After all, Ninja were all cold-blooded individuals, and selling out comrades for profit was not uncommon.
"You mean, you want me to kill my foolish—ah, no, my cute student—and then save you?" Kakashi feigned a surprised expression upon hearing this.
"Eh? He means he wants to kill me?" Uzumaki Naruto hadn't understood the other party's meaning at first, but after hearing Kakashi say that, he pointed at himself blankly.
"Wh-what? Can't I?" Kado was also a bit unsure of Kakashi's attitude. After thinking for a moment, he increased the reward further, "After killing him, I'll give each of you one hundred million!"
He didn't believe they wouldn't be tempted by this!
"Damn it, you bastard! I'll kill you first!" Uzumaki Naruto realized the other party genuinely wanted to kill him, and in anger, he threw a punch and rushed towards Kado, kicking and punching him.
"Ouch! Stop hitting, stop hitting! Ah... don't kick there..."
Before long, Kado was repeatedly begging for mercy. In his entire life, he had never been beaten like this. Once he escaped, he would definitely take revenge!
"Alright, Naruto." Kakashi waited until it was enough before slowly calling a halt to Naruto. Then, she said with an affected manner, "Originally, we didn't plan to do anything to you; we just intended to lock you up and release you after Mr. Tazuna finished building the bridge. But now you want to harm my not-so-cute student, so don't blame us for being impolite."
"No, no, I didn't..." Kado tried to defend himself but was suddenly kicked in the chin by Uzumaki Naruto, making him grimace in pain.
"Since you have fulfilled what was discussed earlier, then I will return Haku to you.'
Afterward, Kakashi ignored Kado and looked towards Zabuza.
"Haku, let's go."
Zabuza didn't look at Kakashi; he only glanced at Haku across from him, then turned and walked away.
"Ah, sorry, Haku has been captured by me again," Kakashi saw Zabuza's poor attitude and knew it would be difficult to get the man to cooperate willingly, so she directly reached out, grabbed the back of Haku's collar, and pulled him over.
"You?" Hearing the movement behind him, Zabuza couldn't help but turn around and glare angrily at Kakashi.
"Well, since you betrayed your employer, it's already hard to make a living in this line of work. How about we cooperate?" Kakashi explained with a grin.
"Hmph, keep talking."
Zabuza snorted coldly, his tone displeased.
