For a moment, Camille simply stared at him.
The office seemed to shrink around them.
Employees outside the glass walls pretended not to watch, which only made it more obvious that they absolutely were watching.
Dante stood near the entrance, hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable.
No reporters.
No security.
No Ella.
Just him.
And somehow that made her heart race harder than any public appearance ever had.
Camille slowly dismissed her assistant with a glance.
The moment the door closed behind them, silence settled over the office.
Neither spoke immediately.
Dante was the first to break.
"Congratulations."
Camille blinked.
"What?"
"The acquisitions."
His eyes moved briefly around her office.
"The rankings were updated this morning."
A faint smile touched his lips.
"You did it."
Something softened inside her despite herself.
Because he looked genuinely proud.
Not threatened.
Not competitive.
Proud.
