Chapter 21 - Chapter 20: The Horizon of Zoya (2041

Tagline: A new generation inherits the watch, and a long-held secret becomes a guiding light.

The Wagah-Attari border was bathed in the harsh, golden light of a Punjab summer. The air hummed with the familiar roar of the evening ceremony, but for Zoya Negi, now a Captain in the Indian Army Medical Corps, the spectacle was secondary to the mission.

Zoya's POV: The Legacy

I stood near the gate, my white doctor's coat crisp over my olive greens. Beside me, my father, Admiral Rahul Negi, stood in civilian clothes, his hair a distinguished silver. He looked at the tall, iron gates not with the eyes of a warrior, but with a weary, knowing peace.

"She's nervous, Rahul," Shruti whispered, tucked under my father's arm. She was a national icon now, her songs of peace played in classrooms across the subcontinent.

"She's a Negi," my father replied, squeezing my shoulder. "She was born for the storm."

I was here for a Joint Cross-Border Polio Vaccination Drive—the first of its kind in a decade. As the gates creaked open for the medical exchange, a Pakistani officer stepped forward to lead their delegation. He was young, sharp, and carried a familiar discipline.

"Captain Zoya Negi?" the officer asked, saluting. "I am Major Hamza Khan. My father... he told me to look for the Blue Poppy locket."

My breath hitched. I looked at the small silver locket pinned inside my collar—the one my Bua Isha had given me on the day I graduated from AFMC.

"Your father?" I whispered.

"General Adil Khan," Hamza replied, a small, respectful smile playing on his lips. "He couldn't be here. He's retired now, living in Lahore. but he said to tell you... The ridge is still blooming."

I looked back at my father. He nodded slowly, a single tear escaping his stoic gaze. At that moment, I understood. The war hadn't ended, but the bridge had held. I wasn't just a doctor; I was the daughter of a secret peace.
