"Nathan, I need to ask you for a favour," Gideon said.
Nathan knelt by his side, "What is it?" He asked.
"I need you to kill me. I don't want to turn into one of them," Gideon pleaded.
"What?" Nathan yelled.
"I'm infected, I need you to do it now before I turn," Gideon explained.
'I get it but they already blame me for the death of their friends. I can't imagine what they will do if I am directly responsible for his death,' Nathan wondered.
"Let me go get help," Nathan said, and ran out to get help.
He came back minutes later with Claire and a few of Gideon's colleagues.
"I knew I should have come with you," one of his colleagues said.
"Matt, don't talk like that. No one knew this would happen," Gideon mentioned.
'Once again he leaves without a scratch,' Matt thought looking at Nathan.
"It's over for me. You guys should check on the others. We got separated in the chaos," Gideon ordered.
Hesitantly, they obeyed him. Claire and Nathan helped Gideon up. With his arms wrapped around his shoulder, they escorted him out.
In another building, Claire strapped him to a bed.
"How did a vampire get into the premises in the first place?" Nathan asked as he gritted his teeth.
"We have been trying to create a serum that enhances the strength, agility, and senses of a vampire without the side effects," Claire explained.
"Are you telling me you purposely brought in a feral vampire?" Nathan asked with a frown.
"Yes, but it is not like that. We took every precaution," Claire explained.
"There is no precaution that would make me comfortable with this. I need to leave," Nathan said.
"I promise we are safe here," Claire assured him.
"Let's forget about the risk of an outbreak. Nothing you are doing to them is humane," Nathan clarified.
"Humane, they are monsters. Ruled by their urges there is nothing humane about them," Claire explained, her voice spiked with every word.
She shook her head and walked away.
Nathan went to look for Jane to arrange for him to leave. Driving in a cart he got turned around. Stopping at a junction, he looked around for a familiar landmark.
Unfortunately, everything looked familiar he felt like he had been driving in circles.
As he analyzed the building he was hit in the head from behind.
