Chapter 6: Dungeons
Standing where the dragon once was, was a stunning woman with black hair in a classic red flowery sun dress and red lipstick.
She looked like a stereotypical woman who had been born in the 'World's Greatest Generation'.
Unbelievably gorgeous and yet…
"I liked you better as a dragon."
The woman, and former dragon just stopped abruptly in confusion before it transformed into annoyance.
"You know the only reason I'm accepting your deal is because from my experience humans aren't very welcoming of my kind right? So imagine my surprise at finding a fellow Earthling. Yet you're more disgusted over my titts than the fire breath?"
I just bit my lip in frustration before sulkingly walking in the direction of where Roger walked off to.
"I'm not that disappointed…"
I could feel the look of disappointment on the back of my neck as I walked away.
.....
"My lord… Who is she?"
Captain Roger just stared in confusion as I brought a gorgeous woman along with me. He clearly had no idea what he was looking at.
'Did the dragon kidnap a woman? That must be it!'
"Oh I see! That foul beast must have kidnapped her and planned to do unspeakable things to her! Disgusting lustful creatures!"
Captain Roger began comforting Ava.
A for effort my dude.
"No, this is the dragon."
Captain Roger looked confused for a bit until he actually started looking at her. That's when he noticed the glowing red eyes and the small horn on her temple.
The Captain's face immediately went pale.
"I am so sorry."
As I kept walking towards the shore I overheard Ava laughing her ass off behind me. She was clearly not as bothered as he thought she would be.
...…
NEIGH!
"Tsk, stupid horse."
As soon as we got back to shore the two horses had seen Ava and ran away. Yeah, it had to be Ava.
"Damn horses! How are we going to get back now?"
As soon as I heard that I had a sly smile show up on my face as I looked at Ava.
She seemed to notice my gaze as she stared back at me before replying with a firm, "No."
"Tsk." I clicked my tongue.
I can't ride a horse, I can't ride a dragon. Why did I end up on this stupid world then? To drive cars?
"Well, our people are coming to us anyway. It's not like we have to go back."
I just sighed before narrowing my eyes at Ava.
She looked at me in confusion wondering what it was this time.
"What happened to me being allowed to ride you whenever I wanted?"
SPURT COUGH COUGH
Captain Roger looked over at me in amazement as he spit his drink out like he was in a cartoon.
"First off, don't phrase it like that. I am a lady not a whore. Second, you made it sound more like a suggestion rather than a demand. So…"
What the fuck?
"I said I would be willing to feed you and protect your treasures in exchange for groping you."
Captain Roger just looked at me with a face of disgust.
[Roger: Loyalty 10]
"Great. Look at what you have done. My own people don't even respect me because you won't let me cram my face in your stomach."
[Roger: Loyalty 5]
Ava put her hand on her forehead.
'I have a headache coming on.'
"Again. Stop phrasing it like that… but fine. You can ride on my back whenever you want. I'll even fight to protect your fortress from time to time. Happy?"
[Roger: Loyalty 60]
Captain Roger looked at Thomas in surprise!
'Was this his plan all along?! I never should have doubted him!' Roger thought, but his expectation was quickly dashed.
"What?! What if you get injured or worse? You're not fighting anyone!"
[Roger: Loyalty 5]
This time even Captain Roger was one step closer to throwing up his hands in surrender to the enemy. His master was clearly an idiot.
Ava just looked at me with her mouth wide open.
"I could blush if it weren't for the fact that I knew what you actually meant by this. You just want the only friendly dragon you have met to live longer so you can have more fun with my body… Great! Now I'm doing it too."
I just sighed after looking at a disappointed guard captain and dragon lady.
"Ok, fine. Food and protection in exchange for the occasional fly around for intimidation purposes and… Your treasures I guess."
Ava had a look of genuine contemplation until suddenly, "Yeah sure, fine. It's not like I knew what they did anyway. But I want a coke and chicken nuggets and fries. If you can't do that then consider us enemies."
I nodded and shook her hands.
[Roger: Loyalty 60]
The good captain pumped his fist in the air and we both started walking towards her treasure trove. Though despite calling it a treasure trove it was mostly just weird magic plants.
According to Ava, dragons tend to generate natural treasures around them by pure chance.
"My father in this life told me our kind usually try to find Dungeons to bond with and protect so we can grow stronger without doing anything. They're also the only creatures on Holstein that openly welcome us."
I nodded in understanding, though I didn't actually know what any of that meant. So I asked my captain but he just shrugged.
I tried asking Ava more about it but that was all she knew.
"My father just told me I'll feel it calling to me when I'm close and to make sure not to bond with it until it has grown to a level I was happy with."
I tilted my head in confusion until I found the dungeon she was talking about.
It was a large hole in the ground with a stairway leading down to it. The whole place felt unnaturally warm like an active volcano.
"Huh… Neat."
"Let's just wait for Seraphina to come. I'm sure she knows something about it."
...….
A few hours passed and we could see the army out in the distance.
Of course we didn't stay on the isle.
We still needed to be wary of high tide covering the sand dune. So we had to head back to the mainland. Of course I asked Ava if she could just swim us across but she said no.
"I can't swim."
Of course the dragon can't swim.
So after a bit of walking I was finally face to face with an annoyed Seraphina staring down Ava.
"Sir… who is this?"
"Never mind her. What do you know about dungeons?"
Seraphina looked incredibly confused before reciting all the information she knew about them.
Basically, dungeons, or more specifically dungeon cores are naturally forming treasures with souls capable of spreading deep underground without limit that constantly spawn treasures, creatures and resources.
Drop some blood on the core and it may choose to make a bond with you if it thinks you're valuable enough to protect it. Thereby making you the dungeon master.
Furthermore, dungeons grow stronger and larger by consuming the bodies of those that go inside, but that's not the only way it grows stronger. Dungeons feed off of the life force wafting off of a person in close proximity. If they accidentally bleed that's even better.
"Many gods set up temples in them. Even better because that would make them Divine Dungeons."
