Chapter 32 - Iron That Answers Blood

Chapter 32: Iron That Answers the Blood

Amara Mensah stepped into the circle without hesitation.

The moment her foot crossed the etched boundary, the symbols carved into the stone floor shimmered again. The same faint spiritual pressure that had surrounded Kairo returned, settling across the arena like a quiet weight.

The students leaned forward.

Kairo folded his arms as he watched.

"Let's see if the metal girl can keep up," he muttered.

Jaro elbowed him lightly.

"Relax. It's not a race."

Amara ignored both of them.

She stood in the center of the circle with her back straight, her dark hair tied tightly behind her neck. Around her wrists were several simple iron bracelets—nothing decorative, just solid metal bands.

Tools of her bloodline.

Master Ilyara stepped forward slightly.

"Begin when you are ready."

Amara closed her eyes.

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then the bracelets around her wrists trembled.

A faint metallic vibration filled the air.

Several loose objects scattered around the arena—discarded training blades, broken spear tips, and iron nails embedded in the practice dummies—began to rattle.

Aren felt the shift instantly.

It was different from the Owase transformation.

Less physical.

But just as powerful.

Amara inhaled slowly.

When she opened her eyes, they carried a sharp focus that hadn't been there before.

She raised one hand.

The iron bracelets slid from her wrists.

They didn't fall.

They floated.

Gasps moved through the watching students.

The metal rings hovered in the air around her arm, spinning slowly like silent satellites.

"Control," Master Ilyara said quietly.

Amara's fingers curled slightly.

The rings shot forward.

They slammed into the stone floor with enough force to chip the surface, then whipped back into the air again, circling her body faster now.

She turned slightly.

Across the arena, a rusted spearhead lying near the wall began to vibrate.

Then it lifted.

Amara didn't even look at it.

With a small motion of her hand, the spearhead flew across the arena and struck one of the wooden practice posts with a loud crack.

The students murmured.

"That distance…" Bram whispered.

"…and she barely moved," Lena Adua added.

Inside the circle, Amara's concentration deepened.

More metal responded.

Several iron bolts loosened themselves from the arena walls, rising slowly into the air. The small pieces joined the spinning bracelets, forming a growing cloud of metal fragments orbiting her body.

The movement wasn't wild.

It was precise.

Every piece moved exactly where she wanted it.

Master Ilyara watched carefully.

"Push further."

Amara nodded once.

Her hands moved outward.

The cloud of metal shot forward like a sudden storm.

The fragments slammed into the practice posts around the arena, shredding the wood and sending splinters flying into the air.

Then, with a quick motion, she pulled her hands back.

The metal returned instantly, spinning once around her before dropping gently into her waiting palm.

Silence followed.

Then Master Ilyara spoke.

"Very good."

Amara released a slow breath.

The pressure in the circle faded as the glowing markings dimmed again.

Master Ilyara turned toward the students.

"Amara Mensah," she said clearly.

"You have also reached the stage of Awakened."

A ripple of impressed murmurs spread through the group.

Amara allowed herself a small smile.

She stepped out of the circle and passed by Kairo.

"Looks like you're not the only one," she said calmly.

Kairo snorted.

"Still slower than claws."

"Still more accurate than teeth," she replied.

Jaro laughed under his breath.

Master Ilyara raised her hand again.

The arena quieted once more.

"Next," she announced, her gaze moving across the group.

"The Adua bloodline."

Lena and Bram exchanged a glance.

After a brief pause, Lena stepped forward.

As she approached the circle, the earth beneath her feet seemed to shift slightly—as if the ground itself already recognized her presence.

Behind the others, Aren stood quietly.

Watching.

Listening.

The whispers inside his mind stirred again.

But this time…

They felt closer.

Almost like they were waiting for something.
