The security footage showed everything Marcus didn't want to see.
Grace met with Michael Torres seven times in the last two weeks. Each meeting lasted between forty-five minutes and an hour. She was accessing encrypted files in the library at night. She was asking questions to people who'd worked for Vincent for decades. She was moving through the family organization with the precision of someone executing a plan.
She was building something.
Marcus sat in his office with the video feeds running across his monitors and realized he was looking at a woman who'd gone from grieving widow to strategic player in less than six weeks. She was clever enough to never meet the same person twice. She was careful enough to vary her patterns so nothing looked obviously connected. She was good.
And he should have reported her three days ago.
Instead, he was erasing the footage.
