The method that Fenrik and Hoshi ultimately settled on after years of research was genetic and surgical modification of the human body, for many reasons that made this option superior to all the alternatives they had previously tested.
The first reason was the enormous technological progress that the Walt Family base had experienced over the past years. Because many of Dan's children and grandchildren had joined Hoshi as trainees and researchers, and because of Dan's direct guidance whenever he had free time, technology within the family had advanced at an astonishing and accelerated rate.
Many products had become available that made daily life easier and gave the impression that they belonged to an entirely different era from the one in which the rest of the world lived.
In particular, Dan had guided them along a research path inspired by the scientific and experimental mindset that had existed in his original world, though it was not a direct copy of it.
The energy used in most inventions and creations within the family was based on chakra and its derivatives, including transformations and alterations of its various properties such as fire, lightning, earth, water, wind, and the applications derived from them.
This path created an environment within the family that was vastly different from the outside world, which still lived in what was effectively an ancient age in terms of technological and civilizational development.
Dan had firmly forbidden these products and technologies from being released to the outside world. This was not out of greed or a desire for control, but because he did not want to artificially alter the course of the world's development. He wanted it to progress naturally according to its own logic until a level was reached where technological maturity was accompanied by civilizational maturity.
At the same time, however, he allowed and encouraged the teaching of the scientific and experimental mindset, especially within the academies established throughout the Blue Dragon Kingdom, particularly in the medical field, which Dan viewed as a safe avenue for advancement that would not disrupt the world's overall balance. Thus, while the family revealed no new technologies directly to the outside world, it actively encouraged the spread of scientific curiosity and critical thinking throughout the kingdom.
Within the Walt Family itself, the tremendous progress achieved in every field opened many new research avenues that had not been available before. One of these was the field on which Hoshi and Fenrik worked. This was despite the fact that the family itself did not truly need such advancements on a personal level.
Any family member who mastered the first three Vitality Seals gained a lifespan of approximately thirteen centuries or more, along with immense physical strength. They were practically immune to disease and possessed powerful healing chakra that allowed them to recover from nearly any injury or illness. Even so, that did not mean such fields should remain unexplored.
Another reason they chose this specific method to fulfill their father's request was that it would always remain in their hands and under their complete control, making it extremely difficult to leak to outsiders. It was not a technique or collection of seals that someone could simply observe, learn, replicate, and improve independently. Rather, it was a specialized series of complex, sequential surgical procedures designed to elevate the human body to its maximum biological potential, requiring exceptionally deep knowledge. This ensured that the method would remain exclusive to the family.
After Fenrik and Hoshi presented the idea to their father, Dan encouraged them to pursue this path and even contributed several ideas of his own that saved them years of experimentation.
As a result, a practical support system for the project was established over the following years. All particularly dangerous criminals sentenced to death within the Blue Dragon Kingdom were transferred to the family base so they could be used for various experiments related to the project.
These were individuals already condemned to death for documented crimes they had committed and who would have been executed regardless. Dan considered it far more beneficial to utilize them for research than to simply execute them without gaining anything from the process.
Leon even deployed the Lone Wolf Squad throughout neighboring countries and territories to hunt down dangerous criminals and gather them for this specific purpose. Over time, this unintentionally created a highly effective buffer zone throughout this region of the continent.
Whenever a dangerous criminal appeared, they were swiftly hunted down by members of the Lone Wolf Squad, who had become famous for their strength and ferocity. This earned them a terrifying reputation that frightened criminals while greatly easing the lives of ordinary people in this brutal age where laws governed few lands outside the kingdom.
Naturally, no warlord, ruler, or political power dared seriously oppose them. At one point, a warlord from a neighboring nation attempted to shelter one of the criminals the squad was pursuing . a noble relative of his notorious for torturing people and whose depravity had escalated to cannibalism. This warlord chose to defend him and stand against the squad using his army.
The result was a swift, decisive, and utterly merciless assault by the Lone Wolf Squad. His entire territory fell in a battle that did not last long due to the overwhelming difference in strength.
The territory was annexed and became part of the lands directly governed by the kingdom. This incident alone was enough to send a clear and uncompromising message to every ruler and warlord: opposing the Lone Wolf Squad or standing in their way meant an irreversible end. After that, no one dared challenge them again.
