Dan sat in the large, luxurious chair, while the warlord Ayato knelt before him on his knees, his head bowed with visible respect and fear. Dan opened the ledger Ayato had brought—pages filled with meticulous handwriting on yellowed paper. At first, he admired the paper itself; it had been many long years since he had used real paper made from plants. Throughout this entire period, he had relied on treated animal hide to write his notes and research, using ink painstakingly extracted from vegetable oils. Seeing actual paper—even if it was primitive and coarse—felt strangely pleasant.
He began to read the information carefully written on the pages. Fortunately, he had learned to read and write the language of this world from his wives many years ago. The language was a modified form of ancient Japanese—close to what he remembered from his previous life, but with distinct differences. He had mastered it with reasonable speed thanks to his excellent memory.
A complete silence reigned in the room for a full half-hour. Dan read calmly, turning the pages slowly, his eyes moving rapidly across the lines as he analyzed the data. Ayato remained kneeling before him in visible terror, not daring to move or make a sound, waiting in a haunting silence.
Then, Dan closed his eyes for a long moment. He began to think deeply about the wealth of information he had just acquired from the detailed report, connecting the dots, deducing, and planning.
First, and most importantly: his current location in the world. From the geographical and political information in the report, Dan concluded that he was most likely living in what would later become the "Land of Fire"—one of the Great Nations of the distant future. Or at least, in a place very close to it geographically. The reason for this conclusion was simple and direct: the Uchiha and Senju clans had clearly emerged in this era. According to the report, they were very active and well-known in regions relatively close to his current location. Therefore, based on Dan's precise analysis and his prior knowledge from the anime, he understood that he was indeed living in the future Land of Fire. This was especially true since these two clans—Uchiha and Senju—had their original and historical home exactly in the Land of Fire, the region that would later become the site of Konoha Village.
For a brief second, a sudden thought crossed Dan's mind: perhaps he should take his entire family and change their location, moving to a farther, safer region, away from the center of the coming conflict between these two powerful clans. His naturally cautious side whispered this option. But he dismissed the idea quickly after deeper reflection. Currently, there was no real need for it. Moving would be costly in terms of time and effort, and risky as well. Dan's current power level was entirely sufficient to deter any potential threat at present, even if the Uchiha or Senju clans appeared directly at his doorstep.
As long as the family maintained its current pattern of total concealment and constant caution, that alone would spare them most potential problems. Regardless of Dan's own immense personal strength, the Walt family itself was now considered a very large power by its own standards. There were several figures among his sons at the Kage level or close to it. Thus, even without Dan himself, if his sons merely wished to form an organized force, they could easily become a very dangerous power to be reckoned with. But this did not mean Dan would ever change his fundamental rules or relax his caution. On the contrary, he would continue strongly in his usual cautious approach, hiding completely behind the scenes and avoiding any unnecessary attention. Power without wisdom is dangerous, and wisdom means caution.
The second very important thing Dan found particularly interesting in the written information was the state of the world. The entire world was currently divided into hundreds of small and medium-sized scattered states. Wars were literally breaking out almost everywhere—constant conflicts between various warlords, each trying to expand at the expense of his neighbor, seizing more resources and wider lands. It was complete chaos. The Age of Warring States in every sense of the word.
It seemed that after the death of the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki, decades ago, and the preoccupation of his direct heirs—Ashura and Indra—with their bitter struggle, there was no one left who truly cared for the path of Ninshu that the Sage had carefully established. No one followed his philosophy based on understanding others, spiritual communication, and peace. Instead, true naked human nature had emerged—greed, ambition, and violence. Wars had erupted everywhere.
This was... entirely natural in Dan's eyes. For someone who originally came from the advanced twenty-first century, a world where he had seen a long history of wars, peace, and different philosophies, the philosophy of Ninshu—though it carried a benevolent character and beautiful ideals—was very immature in its essence, and by its fundamental nature, contradictory and flawed. Why? Because originally, no one in history has been able to impose their ideas and personal philosophy on the entire world unless they possessed sufficient and massive power to protect it and impose it by force on others to adopt it, whether by their will or against it. This in itself was completely contradictory to the philosophy of Ninshu itself, which was based on understanding one another peacefully to reach true peace without force. A clear contradiction. A structural flaw.
Therefore, as soon as the massive power standing behind this philosophy disappeared, it would easily and quickly collapse before true human nature, which naturally and instinctively leans toward power, greed, control, and possession. In fact, to Dan, this collapse was not entirely a bad thing as it might seem at first glance. Human instincts like greed, ambition, and the desire for power, despite their clear brutality and harshness, also lead directly to the advancement of civilization and technology. Wars drive innovation. Conflict drives evolution. Ambition drives discovery.
Thus, he never once thought of the idea of permanent world peace or uniting the world under one banner or any of that childish, idealistic nonsense. Rather, he wanted to let the world evolve naturally and organically, allowing civilization to push itself forward through wars, conflicts, pain, and progress together. Because the future of this entire planet—as he knew well—was destined for complete annihilation due to the threat of the Otsutsuki clan, the aliens inevitably coming in the distant future. Therefore, the more and faster this world evolved, the better it would be for everyone, providing a greater chance for survival, resistance, and endurance. And the constant wars, pain, and conflicts? They were merely a necessary and unavoidable side tax for the true progress of civilization. A price that must be paid.
Dan finally raised his head, opened his eyes, and looked directly at Ayato, who was kneeling before him in fear. He spoke in a calm but commanding and decisive voice: "Prepare your entire army for the immediate seizure of the territory of your rival warlord, the one called Takin, with whom you have recently entered into an armed conflict as mentioned in the report."
He paused for a moment. "I will take action myself to eliminate him; therefore, your soldiers must reach his capital directly and take full control over it and over his entire region with its cities and villages." He looked at him sharply. "Then, immediately after, reinforce your borders around your old territory and the new territory you will control. Cease any further expansion entirely. Do you understand?"
Ayato raised his head slightly, his voice trembling: "Yes, Lord Dragon."
Dan rose from the chair slowly. He spoke in a final tone: "Good. Go now and prepare your soldiers quickly." He looked at the window, toward the darkness outside. "Because tonight, your enemy called Takin will be permanently eliminated."
