I arrived at the enterance door and it was massive. The white building is raising high enough to impress people. I tried to open the door.With enough force, I was finally able to do it.
For a brief moment,Inside felt unnecessarily
large and disturbing. I am able to sense the metalic air around me. I approached the body scanners and passed through it. When I looked at my right,the sign said that I am in lobby floor. Sign also said that the reception is 25 meters away.
I arived the reception. There was a bell on the stand.I pressed it.
"Im coming please wait."
The voice said. I continued to press it. Again and again. There it is. The woman arrived.
"Can you please stop pressing the bell or else you need to leave."
"I'm sorry."
"So, what brings you here young one?"
"I am following the message that sent me here. I probably have won the exam."
The woman looked at me for a brief moment. And she turned around to grab something.
When the woman arrived, she was holding a card that shines green and yellow.
"There it is. that yours. Dont lose it."
I quickly grabbed the card. It is written that my ID is "518". I started speaking.
"What is the purpose of that?"
"This is your ID card now. This allows you to serve everything here. There is a number on its front face. Thats your new name and everyone will call you like that from now on. By the way,you are to go to the meeting room located at 1st floor. Good luck."
"Thanks"
I slowly walked away towards the elevator side. I pressed the button.
When the door opened, there was someone whose clothing was exact same as mine. I greeted him, but he didn't showed no sign of acknowledgment. He had alredy stepped out. Meanwhile, I had alredy pressed the button.
When I looked at the elevator buttons, I was stunned Because there was only 1st floor and lobby. That meant if I was supposed to reach other floors, I would have to take to stairs.
The elevator stopped as I ascended enough.
I stepped out and the first thing that greeted me was a fountain. I walked towards it and grabed handful of water and released it. I searched for signs and I eventually found it. It was saying that I am indicated to walk in those wide corridors about 70 meters. I started walking.
The corridors were wide and empty, the sound of my footsteps echoing behind me.
The air smelled rusty metal and moisture, making me feel out of place. The yellow fluorescent lamps made me feel dizzy somehow. eventually, I arrived at a large opening. At the end of it, it was a really wide sliding door. That must be the meeting room. A faint machine sound echoed through somewhere beyond corridor, sending a chill down my spine.
I didn't hesitate to open the door. It slided and slammed against the wall with a loud metallic sound.
The moment I stepped inside, I froze. The room was enormous.
The hall sloped sharply downward like a massive staircase. Row after row of seats descended toward the center, forming a slope filled with hunderts of people. At the very bottom, There was a platform with a single podium in the middle.
Above it, high on the far side of the hall, was a raised speaking area. A woman was standing above, watching everyone in the saloon.
I picked a row and walked through the middle. The echoes of the humman noise made my ears burn not gonna lie. I picked an empty seat and sat on it. I put my backpack and ironing board near my foot.
The seats were quite comfortable. But human made syntetic leather made it stink.
The chair beside it was empty. That was strange. Almost every other seat around me was alredy taken. I wondered who would end up sitting there.
My eyes drifted to the small glowing panel on the desk in front of me. A narrow slot blinked with a soft green light.
I slid my card through it. A quiet mechanical voice followed.
''518 is here''
I leaned back in my chair. And I started to examine the texture of the card in my hand. There was a barcode on it. I will probably save this for later.
A few seconds later, I heard footsteps coming down the steps behind me. Slow and calm. I turned my head slightly. The girl was still standing when she slid her card through the panel. The machine responded immediately.
''220 is here''
Only then did I realize who had just taken the seat beside me.
