Chapter 7 - The Hidden World

The night air was cold.

Aadhya sat in the back seat of a black SUV, staring out of the window as the city lights of Delhi passed by.

Nothing about today made sense anymore.

This morning she was just a normal student.

Now someone was telling her she belonged to an ancient bloodline.

And monsters were apparently hunting her.

She looked at Agent Arjun sitting in the front seat.

"So… where exactly are we going?" she asked.

Arjun didn't turn around.

"Somewhere safe."

"That's not very specific."

He sighed slightly.

"Because technically, it doesn't exist."

Aadhya frowned.

"What does that mean?"

"It means the place we're going to is hidden from normal people."

The SUV turned off the highway and drove toward the outskirts of the city.

Tall forests surrounded the road now.

After another ten minutes, the vehicle stopped in front of what looked like an abandoned factory.

Aadhya raised an eyebrow.

"This is your secret headquarters?"

Arjun stepped out of the car.

"Appearances can be deceiving."

He walked toward a large metal gate.

As soon as he placed his hand on a scanner beside it—

Beep.

The entire ground trembled slightly.

Hidden lights activated around the building.

The metal gate slowly opened.

Aadhya's eyes widened.

Behind the gate wasn't an abandoned factory.

It was a massive underground facility.

Glass elevators.

Armed security.

Advanced technology everywhere.

"Welcome," Arjun said calmly, "to the Directorate."

Inside the facility, dozens of people moved through the corridors.

Some wore tactical uniforms.

Others studied glowing holographic screens.

Aadhya looked around in disbelief.

"You're telling me this place has always been here?"

"Yes."

"And normal people don't know about it?"

"No."

"That's terrifying."

Arjun chuckled.

"You get used to it."

They entered an elevator that began descending deep underground.

After a few seconds, the elevator doors opened into a large training hall.

The room looked like a combat arena.

Metal walls.

Observation windows.

Training equipment everywhere.

Standing in the center of the arena was a tall woman with short silver hair.

Her arms were crossed as she watched them approach.

Arjun stopped.

"Director."

The woman nodded once.

Her sharp eyes moved to Aadhya.

"So," she said calmly, "this is the Serpent Bloodline."

Aadhya shifted awkwardly.

"Hi… I guess?"

The woman ignored the greeting.

"My name is Director Meera."

Her gaze sharpened.

"And from this moment onward, your life will never be normal again."

Aadhya sighed.

"Yeah, I'm starting to notice that."

Director Meera walked around her slowly.

"Do you know what you are?"

"Apparently something called the Serpent Bloodline."

"Not just that."

Meera stopped in front of her.

"You are the potential heir to the Serpent Queen."

The words sent a strange chill through Aadhya's body.

"Queen?" she repeated.

"Yes."

Arjun spoke from the side.

"The Serpent Bloodline is one of the oldest supernatural lineages in existence."

Director Meera continued.

"For centuries it remained dormant."

She looked directly into Aadhya's eyes.

"Until today."

Silence filled the training hall.

Aadhya crossed her arms.

"So what now?"

"Now we test you."

Before Aadhya could ask what that meant—

Meera pressed a button on the wall.

The arena floor shifted.

A mechanical gate opened.

Something stepped out.

A creature.

Tall.

Shadow-like.

Its glowing eyes locked onto Aadhya immediately.

Her heart started racing.

"Wait—what is that?!" she shouted.

"Training target," Meera replied calmly.

"Training target?!"

The creature suddenly lunged toward her.

Aadhya barely dodged.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" she yelled.

Arjun leaned casually against the wall.

"Relax. If your bloodline is real, you'll survive."

"That's NOT comforting!"

The creature attacked again.

Aadhya stumbled backward.

Her mind raced.

Focus.

That strange energy from earlier…

She needed to feel it again.

The serpent mark on her collarbone suddenly grew warm.

Green energy flickered around her hands.

The creature charged again—

And this time, Aadhya didn't run.

She raised her hand.

A shockwave of emerald energy exploded outward.

BOOM.

The creature was thrown across the arena wall.

Silence followed.

The green energy slowly faded.

Aadhya looked down at her glowing hands.

"What… was that?"

Director Meera smiled slightly.

"Confirmation."

Arjun nodded.

"No doubt now."

Aadhya looked confused.

"Confirmation of what?"

Meera answered quietly.

"The Serpent Queen has awakened."

Far away, deep inside a mountain fortress…

The young man with the crimson mark stood in a dark chamber.

Several armored warriors kneeled before him.

One of them spoke.

"Our scouts confirmed the energy surge."

The young man's crimson eyes glowed faintly.

"Location?"

"Delhi."

Silence filled the room.

He slowly clenched his fist.

"So it's true."

Another warrior asked carefully,

"What are your orders, Lord Rudra?"

Rudra turned toward a massive stone window overlooking the mountains.

"The Serpent Bloodline has returned."

His voice became cold.

"And history has proven that when the Serpent rises…"

He turned back toward them.

"…war follows."

The warriors lowered their heads.

Rudra's crimson mark burned brighter.

"Prepare the hunters."

The room grew silent.

Because everyone in that fortress knew exactly what that meant.

Rudra spoke one final sentence.

"If the Serpent Queen has awakened…"

His eyes burned like fire.

"…then she must be destroyed before she becomes unstoppable."

Back in the Directorate facility…

Aadhya suddenly felt the serpent mark pulse again.

Stronger this time.

Like something far away had just answered her power.

She placed her hand over it.

Arjun noticed immediately.

"You felt it too?"

Aadhya looked up slowly.

"Yeah."

Director Meera's expression turned serious.

"That's not good."

Aadhya frowned.

"Why?"

Meera gave a quiet answer.

"Because if you felt it…"

She looked toward the dark ceiling above.

"…then someone else has awakened too."
