Chapter 13 - The Calm Before the Clash

The Directorate facility was unusually tense.

After the attack by the Dragon Bloodline hunters, security had been increased everywhere. Armed agents guarded every entrance, surveillance drones hovered through the corridors, and every monitor in the command room displayed live feeds from around the city.

Everyone knew the truth now.

The hunters had only been a test.

The real threat was still coming.

Inside the training arena, Aadhya stood quietly in the center of the room.

Her breathing was slow.

Her eyes were closed.

A faint emerald glow flickered around her fingers.

Arjun stood a few meters away, watching carefully.

"Good," he said calmly. "Hold it there."

The energy in Aadhya's hand trembled slightly.

The glowing serpent mark on her collarbone pulsed like a heartbeat.

For a few seconds the energy remained stable.

Then it suddenly disappeared.

Aadhya opened her eyes and sighed.

"I lost it again."

Arjun shook his head.

"No. That lasted longer."

She frowned.

"It still feels like the power is fighting me."

Arjun stepped closer.

"Because it is."

Aadhya looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

"The Serpent Bloodline isn't just energy," Arjun explained. "It's instinct. It reacts to danger, emotions, and survival."

He pointed toward the arena floor.

"You're trying to control it like a machine."

"So what should I do?"

Arjun smiled slightly.

"Think of it like a living creature."

Aadhya looked down at her hands again.

A living creature…

A serpent.

Meanwhile, in the common room nearby…

Kabir was pacing back and forth nervously.

Dev sat on a chair with his arms crossed.

Sana leaned against the wall watching a large screen.

Kabir suddenly stopped walking.

"This is bad."

Dev sighed.

"You've said that like twenty times."

Kabir pointed at the screen.

Satellite scans of northern India glowed with strange red disturbances.

"These are Dragon Bloodline energy traces."

Sana nodded slowly.

"They're moving south."

Dev frowned.

"So Rudra's army is moving."

Kabir swallowed.

"And fast."

None of them liked that answer.

High above the facility, inside the command center…

Director Meera stared at the massive holographic map.

A crimson signal glowed on the display.

It was moving.

Fast.

A technician spoke nervously.

"Director… the energy source has crossed the Himalayas."

Meera's expression hardened.

"That quickly?"

"Yes."

Arjun entered the room at that moment.

He looked at the screen.

Then he exhaled slowly.

"Rudra."

The crimson signal pulsed again.

Each pulse was massive.

Far stronger than the hunters.

Far stronger than anything they had seen before.

Meera turned toward Arjun.

"How long until he reaches Delhi?"

The technician answered before Arjun could.

"If he continues at this speed… less than two days."

Silence filled the room.

Far away…

A lonely road stretched across the mountains.

Rudra walked calmly through the cold wind.

The snow around him melted wherever his crimson aura touched the ground.

His long dark coat moved in the wind like a shadow.

Behind him, two Dragon warriors followed nervously.

Neither of them dared speak loudly.

One finally gathered the courage.

"My lord."

Rudra didn't stop walking.

"Yes?"

"Our scouts report heavy Directorate defenses in the city."

Rudra smiled faintly.

"Of course they do."

The warrior hesitated.

"Should we gather the army before attacking?"

Rudra finally stopped.

He turned slowly.

His crimson eyes glowed faintly in the darkness.

"Do you know why the Dragon Bloodline ruled the supernatural world for centuries?"

The warrior shook his head.

Rudra raised one hand.

Crimson flames flickered around his fingers.

"Because we never feared our enemies."

The flames disappeared.

Then he continued walking again.

"This battle is mine."

Back in the training arena…

Arjun activated another combat drone.

This one was larger than the previous ones.

Kabir walked into the room just in time to see it power up.

"Oh come on," he groaned.

"Another one?"

Dev smirked.

"This one looks like it wants to murder someone."

Sana crossed her arms.

"That's the point."

Arjun looked at Aadhya.

"Ready?"

Aadhya took a deep breath.

"Let's try."

The drone suddenly launched forward.

Its speed was incredible.

Aadhya barely dodged the first attack.

A second blast shot toward her.

She jumped aside, but the explosion still pushed her back.

Kabir winced.

"That had to hurt."

Aadhya stood again.

Her eyes were focused now.

She remembered what Arjun had said.

A living creature.

She closed her eyes for a second.

Then she reached for the serpent power again.

The mark on her collarbone glowed brighter.

Emerald energy spread across her arms.

Behind her, the ghostly serpent aura appeared again.

But this time it looked clearer.

More solid.

The drone fired another attack.

Aadhya didn't move.

Instead she raised her hand.

A glowing emerald barrier appeared instantly.

The blast exploded against it.

Dev's eyes widened.

"Nice."

The drone charged again.

But this time Aadhya moved first.

She stepped forward.

The serpent aura followed her like a shadow.

Then she thrust her hand forward.

The serpent aura lunged.

The drone was smashed into the arena wall with a massive explosion.

Metal fragments scattered across the floor.

The arena fell silent.

Kabir slowly started clapping.

"Okay… that was awesome."

Sana nodded.

"Your control is improving."

Arjun smiled slightly.

"Much better."

Aadhya looked down at her glowing hands.

For the first time…

The power felt calm.

Like it was finally cooperating with her.

But at that moment—

Every alarm in the facility suddenly blared.

WARNING – EXTREME ENERGY SIGNATURE DETECTED

The room froze.

Kabir looked up nervously.

"…please tell me that's not what I think it is."

In the command center, the holographic map flashed violently.

The crimson signal had moved again.

But this time…

It was already inside India.

Director Meera's face turned serious.

"He's here."

Arjun looked toward the training arena below.

"We're out of time."

On the outskirts of the city…

A lonely highway stretched through the night.

Rudra stood quietly on the road.

City lights glowed far ahead in the distance.

He could feel it now.

A faint pulse of emerald energy.

The Serpent Bloodline.

He smiled slightly.

"So this is where you are."

The wind around him began to swirl.

His crimson aura slowly spread across the road like fire.

For centuries, the Dragon and Serpent bloodlines had remained silent.

Hidden.

Waiting.

But that silence was ending now.

Rudra looked toward the glowing city skyline.

"Serpent Queen…"

His crimson eyes burned in the darkness.

"…let's see if you're worthy of the legends."

And somewhere deep inside the Directorate facility…

Aadhya suddenly felt the serpent mark burn hotter than ever before.

Like it had sensed something powerful approaching.

The Dragon King had arrived.

And their first real encounter was getting closer.
