[Some Time Ago - Hatsume's Residence - Backyard - Miku's POV]
It was a beautiful sunny day outside, birds singing atop the lone tree in the backyard while flowers bloomed in the scattered pots around it. Standing in the green grass were various members of the community, all of them talking with each other in a friendly manner.
"Awww, thanks, Metal."
The older woman giggled as she leaned down slightly to grab the small white lily that her mechanic grandson was offering her. She looked it over for a moment before tucking it into her hair.
"This is a very pretty flower, and it goes perfectly with my sundress!"
"Metal! Some help over here!"
Metal turned around at the sound of Kyosuke's voice. The man was trying to light some charcoal below a heavy rectangular grill to no avail. The small robot gave Miku a nod before walking away.
'Quite the little helper indeed.'
"Hey, Miku!"
Feeling something poking her in the shoulder, Miku turned around to find a woman with bright long red hair and eyes, though her most striking feature was her lower half, which was that of a serpent with red scales.
"Ah! Miia!"
---
[Metal's POV]
Fwoosh!
"Thanks, bud!"
Kyosuke gave Metal a thumbs up as the charcoal easily caught on fire. Seeing the display, a nearby man—whose head was an actual stop sign—also expressed his approval as the little white figure in the red surface moved.
"👌"
The small silver robot returned the gesture before focusing back on his grandpa.
"Well, one of the neighbors brought some meat from America, and we thought it'd be a shame if it all went to waste. Plus, who says that we can't cook eggs on a grill?"
"Finally! Some variety!"
A tall young man approached the duo while holding a red plastic cup in his right hand. He had light skin and messy black hair much like Kyosuke's.
"Kimihito!"
"Kyosuke!"
Clap!
Both men grinned at each other as their hands remained interlocked. After a short struggle, Kimihito's arm was forced down by Kyosuke's strength.
"Ha! The score is 8-3 in my favor! Just give up, friend!"
The slightly smaller man rolled his eyes while getting rid of the wrinkles in his black shirt with his free hand.
"You wish."
[Scanning...
Data Found: Kimihito Kurusu — User Designation: Neighbor
Gender: Male
Estimated Age: 30–34
Quirk Threat Level: Unknown]
"Metal, what did I tell you about scanning the neighbors? It's rude."
Metal's red lens dimmed down slightly as he stopped his scan.
"Nah, it's cool."
Kimihito said while looking down at Metal with curiosity. Then the man crouched down to be at eye level with the machine.
"My wife told me you helped her when her tail got stuck on a fence a few weeks ago, so thanks for that, little guy."
The little silver robot stared at Kimihito as he held out his left fist. After a few awkward seconds, Metal relented and gently tapped the man's knuckles with his own.
"Almost thought you were going to leave me hanging there. So, Kyosuke, are you going to explain why the little pal needs a flamethrower?"
Kyosuke shrugged while his friend stood back up.
"He's going to be taking the next entrance exam for U.A., so Mei decided to give him one for some reason."
"Is that even allowed?"
"I talked with the principal and he approved, so it looks like it is."
"Kids! Be careful!"
The sudden sound came from a woman with short blue hair styled similarly to a bob cut that only left one of her eyes exposed. She chased the small group of children across the backyard as they ran around, making the other adults chuckle.
Slam!
Every chatter and laugh came to a sudden stop as the door slid open roughly. From inside the house, a hulking man stepped out with red liquid dripping down the left shoulder of his blue squared jacket, penetrating the fabric and staining the white shirt underneath.
The only working eye on the man's scarred face scanned the backyard until he finally found the small group standing by the grill. Once his eye locked onto Kyosuke's, he started walking forward as he spoke in a raspy voice.
"Stand ready for our cookout, folks!"

[Mei's POV]
'Aaaaand done!'
Mei let out a small huff as she took off her goggles and threw them away. The girl's yellow eyes focused on her last invention as she grabbed it before sprinting up the stairs of the basement.
The pink blur swept through the house as if the long object in her hands weighed nothing. It didn't take her long to reach the glass door leading to the backyard, and since it was already open, she simply rushed outside, almost bumping into one of the neighbors.
'Not there, or there, nope... found her!'
Mei walked towards the group standing in one of the corners of the backyard. The adults quickly noticed the small girl's approach.
"Hey, sweetie, would you mind explaining why you are carrying a vacuum cleaner?"
"This is your new mega vacuum cleaner, Mom! I call it The Blackhole! I heard you complaining about this thing, so I took it upon myself to upgrade it!"
Miku tilted her head in confusion as her daughter presented the device to her with a proud smile on her face.
"So cutee!"
"EEK!"
A long red tail wrapped itself around Mei's waist before lifting the girl off the grass and into the arms of the mutant woman, who didn't waste a second pinching the little girl's cheeks while cooing.
'Where is Metal when you need him?!'
"Miia, please don't strangle my daughter."
Miku said while holding the previously normal vacuum cleaner that she stopped from falling onto the grass.
"Fine, fine."
The woman put Mei down on her feet while giving her a gentle headpat as an apology.
"So how does that thing work, Mei?"
Kyosuke asked while gesturing at the vacuum cleaner in his wife's hand. The man didn't wait for an answer as he stuffed his mouth with a chunk of barbecue meat.
"You should teach your husband how to eat like a civilized person, Miku. My darling could never do something like that, isn't that right—"
A sound akin to glass breaking echoed through the backyard as Miia glanced at her husband only to find him gargling on his own food like a rabid dog. All the smugness left the redhead's serpentine body instantly. Instead, it was replaced by a predatory coldness that she expressed through a hiss.
"Gulp, it's Carl's fault..."
SMACK!
Poor Kimihito was sent flying to the other end of the backyard after his wife's tail smacked him in the face. At the very least, Carl caught him before he could kiss the fence.
"Anyways! You only have to turn this switch here! Then just pull on the trigger at the back of the handle! The harder you press it, the more power it outputs! Try it on the grass! I made it so it would work on everything!"
Miku nodded at her daughter's simple explanation, putting the floor nozzle against the grass and flipping the switch. A low hum came from the device as it trembled slightly, though the woman managed to keep it steady.
The vacuum easily ripped the grass out of the ground, leaving behind a smooth surface as if a gardener had done the job manually.
"Huh, it does work. Not that I doubted you, sweetie, but your track record is not very good."
"Of course it does! I am the great Mei Hatsu—"
VVVVVVRRRRRRRRRRM!!!
"Kya!"
"Woah!"
"Shit!"
Miku's grip on the handle broke as the thing started going wild. Dirt and grass flew to the sides as the object buried itself in the ground as if it were a drill.

'That... wasn't in the schematics.'
Mei thought as she peeked over the edge of the newly made hole in the backyard. The lines in her yellow eyes shifted as she used her Quirk to zoom in, only to find that her creation was still going.
'I wonder if it'll reach the other side of the world?'
"You are so grounded, young lady."
Mini Mei stiffly turned around to look at her mother, who was staring down at her with crossed arms while tapping her sandal against the grass.
Plop.
"Huh?"
The small girl grabbed the new object on her head, which turned out to be a pink sunhat with a chibi version of her and Metal engraved on the front.
"A-ah, I do! But uhh... I don't think this is the right moment."
Confused, Metal glanced at his grandma before walking away.
"W-WHERE ARE YOU GOING?! HELP ME!"
"TRAITOR!"
