Chapter 16 - Going in

It's quite to quiet...

I decide to step in fully.

The lights are flickering on and off, most of the light coming from the sunset outside pouring in through the windows. The orange beams resting on the columns.

We need a place to rest before night then we can check the aeroplanes tomorrow.

The others try following and I hold them back for now.

"Let's not risk it."

Hyun nods and keeps the others back, trusting me to go in and back.

I hope they know I could easily ditch them here.. well I could have done that before, anyways.

I walk in now my grip remaining on my racket. So far there isn't much, just silence. It doesn't seem like anything happened here, almost like everyone just disappeared? This is weird.. really weird.

I walk in deeper looking around still on edge, though I am a bit more confident knowing that I can kill them, but still it's creepy.

Was the airport closed or something? Nah airports literally don't close, unless they go out of business. Mabye it's abandoned..? To be fair I barely go to airports. Wait if it's not in service that means no aeroplanes.. Just my luck

"Haah.."

I rub my forehead with my palm, this is annoying.

I could be finding my sister right now but no, here I am in this place. It's a good base yes, but seeing how big it is there must be other survivors here or would be coming later. Basically bound for trouble.

I start to go upstairs just to be safe. Still quiet but thank god the shops are still stocked.

We can stay the night grab supplies and get better transport.

Upstairs there were more ranges of shops.

Where's the one we need though..

**

"Found you.." Costco.

Now anyone would know Costco has literally anything also means things like tents, food, water, all necessary supplies we need. If we already found our families I'd definitely want to live in a Costco.

Next to Costco a matress shop is there.

Wow is the universe finally helping..

Perfect, we can sleep here then raid through Costco. Wait wait I'm getting ahead of myself. I need to check if there's no one else in there first.

I debate going in.. then in the end I don't and head back down to the others.

They can help too.

Something makes me rush down, I'm not sure if it's fear, adrenaline or excitement but whatever it is, it's telling me to go to the others now. Almost like before, I felt this when Hyun was in danger. Or I'm just scared. Hey I'm human too ok..

I slide down the stairs rails practically jumping off them. Loosing my balance on the landing and stumbling into a wall.

"Oof-?"

"Ah?"

I glance up at the wall that made a sound.

"Alex you ok?"

"Jeez Hyun, your built like a wall."

"..."

"Ah.. nevermind that. Where's the others?" I straighten back to my feet using my racket to help.

He steps aside where the others are sitting on the floor talking among eachother looking bored.

"Alexie!!" Ash perks up standing up first. "Soooo what did you find?"

"There's no one in there so far and I've found a Costco."

"Oooh a Costco. Can we go like now now?" Yunjin looks ready to dash in.

"We are, if you guys are ready."

"I see no harm." Chase gets ready.

"And it's getting dark quick." Hanna goes by my side twirling her racket.

Ash yawns. "Yeah I'm tired aswell."

"D-d-do we have to..?"

"Yes we do." Chase drags Sieun along.

"Let's go then." I walk in first again racket absently in my grip.

"Woah, sure is empty in here?" Ash looks around.

"Yeah I think it got closed down."

"Huh? Not possible, I came here literally last week with my mum and it was packed."

"Yun has a point, plus there were alot of cars outside." Hanna adds in.

"Ok this is weird.." Chase tenses.

"Tell me about it.." Yunjin stays extra close.

"Let's just.. let's just go quickly." Ash says but is clearly freaked out.

"I knew it was a bad idea to go in."

"Shut up Sieun." The four of them say together then continue walking.

He shrinks back again, trailing behind.

"We're just staying the night anyways to take what we need then we're leaving tomorrow after we check the aeroplanes. Think we can do that?"

"I can if someone doesn't complain again."

Sieun whimpers at Hanna's words while the others nod in agreement.

"Wait, we need better weapons and what about your sword?"

"Oh yeah, know what shops to get it from? I know Costco we'll find hardware tools there but definitely not a sword."

"That anime shop like I said before, though it is on the otherside.."

"No point now it's too dark, too risky."

He nods back.

We go upstairs walking up the broken escalator, our shoes hitting against the metal echoing in the silence.

**

"Did you already check inside, Alex?" Ash asks as we stand outside Costco.

"No, it's too big for me to check myself."

"Orrr you were just scared." Hanna teases in my ear.

"Shut it."

"My apologies." She mocks.

That girl-

"Makes sense, it is quicker with the 7 of us." Ash goes to opens the door.

"Fwoosh.. "

"Ack-! What is that smell?! Eughh!! "

Yunjin pinches her nose.

"Who died in here." I say flatly as I walk ahead, the space filled with darkness.

"Eek-" The sound startles me in the dark and I raise my racket to realise it's only Sieun.

"What's with you?" I slowly lower my racket.

"Th-th-the dark.. See I told you this was a bad idea!!"

"Shut up Sieun." The five of us say dismissively.

**

Hyun turns on the light, pulling the lever, lighting the whole shop up.

"Damnnn it's big!" Chase whistles.

"Oh we eating good tonight!!" Yunjin giggles and skips ahead.

"Careful Yun, there could be zombies lurking."

At Ash's words she gets closer holding Hannas free arm, squeezed between her and Ash.

"Scared?" Chase taunts.

"Am not!"

"Stop lying to yourself."

"Like you weren't the one who froze when a zombie came."

"Hey! That was before, I'm a changed man."

"I don't see no man." She mockingly looks around.

"Right here." He dramatically flexes his muscles.

Hanna and Ash pretend to gag and throw up.

"They seem pretty small to me."

"Better than being a walking sack of bones."

"Aren't we all..?"

"No wha- Never mind."

"Idiot."

"Shut it shortie."

**

The aisles are stocked to the top with goods. Too many for us to cover thoroughly in a day. We could split up but that's like the start to every horror movie before going wrong.

Efficiency or safety...?
