"Lord Kokabiel, please save us!"
The desperate cries of the Fallen Angels echoed throughout the base, irritating the Cadre to his very core. "Shut up already, you useless sacks of meat! You're good for nothing!" Kokabiel growled furiously.
Instead of hiding and begging him for help, they should stand up and face Damon alongside him. This was the perfect opportunity for the Fallen Angels to demonstrate their superiority. With Khaos Brigade supporting him, Kokabiel had no doubt that he would finally be able to subjugate the other two Biblical factions—or at least, that was what Ophis had promised him.
Just imagining it made the Cadre's mouth water.
With those thoughts in mind, Kokabiel emerged from the main building and spread his ten black wings in all their glory. Several swords of light began forming behind him as he slowly rose into the air beneath Damon's watchful gaze.
The redhead did not appear worried in the slightest.... His eyes briefly shifted from the Cadre to the human in the red coat standing beside him. Damon had no idea who he was, but he could sense a great power within him, similar to that of a Sacred Gear. Considering that he was human, that already gave Damon an idea of what it might be.
The only thing he found strange was seeing him inside Grigori territory. He had been under the impression that Fallen Angels stole Sacred Gears from humans, not that they worked alongside them. However, Damon quickly pushed his questions aside. The human's identity would not change what was about to happen.
"Where is Kunou?" he asked, his voice cold, loud, and clear enough to send a chill through more than one Fallen Angel.
"Straight to the point.... I like that." Kokabiel's smile widened. He did not appear disturbed by the god's coldness, nor did he show any intention of answering the question.
Georg, meanwhile, pushed his glasses up with two fingers as he studied the man before them. Even without releasing all of his power, the pressure surrounding Damon was impressive.
Although that did not surprise the Hero Faction's sub-leader very much. Georg knew part of what Damon was capable of, and because of his position within Khaos Brigade, he was accustomed to remaining near some of the most powerful beings inside the organization.
For that reason, he managed to remain perfectly calm. As for Kokabiel, the Fallen Angel had participated in a war against God and was also completely insane. That easily explained his lack of concern.
With those thoughts in mind, Georg stepped forward, drawing Damon's attention. "Stay out of the way. I'll deal with him," the human declared... Kokabiel raised an eyebrow. Did this human believe himself superior merely because he possessed one of the four strongest Longinus?
"I'll do whatever I want, human. Just make yourself useful and stay out of my way," the Cadre replied before rising even higher.
Georg clicked his tongue at Kokabiel's stubbornness but decided not to argue. Turning the Cadre against him at that moment would be counterproductive, especially with Damon standing before them and prepared to destroy the entire operation.
"Fallen Angels, with me!" Kokabiel shouted. The plebes who were still hiding spread their wings and rose alongside their leader, gathering behind him while preparing their weapons.
However, Damon had no intention of standing still and waiting for them to attack. In the blink of an eye, he vanished from the rooftop. Everyone's eyes widened in shock. Kokabiel barely managed to raise his gaze before seeing Damon appear above them, his arm already descending in a brutal motion... An enormous explosion of wind erupted from the redhead's arm, taking the form of an invisible blade as wide as the entire formation of Fallen Angels. The attack tore through the sky with the force of a hurricane, splitting the clouds apart and dragging the rain along with it.
"DEF—FAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
Within seconds, the first Fallen Angels, too weak to withstand the current, were sent flying at tremendous speed. Others managed to raise barriers, only to take the full force of the attack. Their defenses warped like glass beneath impossible pressure before shattering into thousands of glowing fragments.
They were sent flying as well, their bones cracking within the current. The roar was so deafening that several of them began bleeding from their ears as they were hurled in different directions.
One of them crashed into an especially durable wall with such force that his body was reduced to a mass of blood and deformed flesh, with several bones protruding in plain sight.
Only those who managed to remain behind Kokabiel were more fortunate. The Cadre crossed his ten wings in front of his body and created a barrier of light just before the impact.
Even so, he could not stop himself from gritting his teeth as his wings were forced backward. The defense began cracking in front of him, forcing him to release even more power to keep the attack from carrying him away along with his subordinates. "Damn you…" Kokabiel muttered through gritted teeth, completely caught off guard by an attack of such magnitude so soon.
Georg, on the other hand, had fewer problems defending himself. After all, defense was precisely Dimension Lost's greatest specialty, although even he had to exert more effort than expected to hold his ground.
Just as the hurricane was about to end, Damon appeared inside the storm..... He passed through his own attack like a red flash and charged directly toward Kokabiel. Upon seeing him approach, the Cadre reinforced his barrier with all the power he could gather.
Damon shot toward him with one leg extended. The flying kick, reinforced by his power, struck the center of the barrier and shattered it into pieces. Kokabiel's eyes widened once again, nearly bulging out of their sockets.
Damon clenched his fist and appeared directly in front of the Cadre within milliseconds. Kokabiel barely had enough time to place one of his swords of light in front of his face before the blow fell.
The redhead could not have cared less..... Destructive power coated his fist at the moment of impact. The sword of light exploded instantly, but the force of the punch continued through it and struck Kokabiel directly in the face.
The Cadre was launched through the sky like a projectile, leaving behind a trail of black feathers torn away by the speed. He crashed through several buildings before slamming into a distant mountain, disappearing inside an enormous cloud of dust and stone. Before anyone could fully process what had happened, Damon gave them no time to recover.
A sphere of black energy began spinning above his open palm. It rapidly compressed in on itself until the sound of its rotation became deafening. Without hesitation, Damon threw the sphere directly at the group of exposed Fallen Angels.
Most of them did not even manage to raise their defenses. Fortunately for them, Georg appeared in front of the group within seconds. A magic circle emerged before the human just as the rotating sphere struck his defense. Georg planted both feet against the ground and extended his hands. Several defensive circles appeared behind the first, overlapping one another as they gradually redirected the attack's path.
The sphere eventually flew past them and struck a section of the base crowded with rubble. The explosion expanded into a massive dark dome that devoured everything around it. The Fallen Angels stared at the detonation with their eyes wide open.
Georg kept his gaze fixed on Damon and clicked his tongue in obvious irritation. "What the hell are you waiting for? Attack!" The shout snapped them out of their stupor.
Without wasting any more time, the Fallen Angels charged Damon from every direction. They no longer had any choice but to fight to the death. Several magic circles appeared above the buildings and fired enormous streams of flame toward the redhead.
Damon raised one hand and pointed toward the flames with his thumb and two fingers. Then he closed them together. All the fire was immediately compressed into a tiny sphere before disappearing entirely.
At that exact moment, one of the braver Fallen Angels managed to approach from the side. Attempting to take advantage of everyone attacking Damon at once, he held a long sword of light with both hands and aimed directly for the redhead's neck.
"Die!"
Damon, who had already sensed his presence. quickly made his katana appear in his hand, its blade still completely sheathed. The god raised it with one hand and crossed it in front of the attack.
The sword of light touched the black scabbard and was sliced in half as though it were made of butter. The Fallen Angel's eyes widened in horror.
Damon did not even consider stopping. He continued the movement and used the sheathed katana as though the blade were exposed. The scabbard passed through the soldier's neck without resistance.
For a millisecond, nothing happened. The Fallen Angel even continued moving forward from the force of his own momentum. Then a thin red line appeared around his throat, and his head separated from his body..... The corpse passed Damon before falling toward the base below.
No one had time to stop and consider what had happened.....Another Fallen Angel approached from behind and threw a spear of light directly toward the redhead, while a second descended from above at tremendous speed.
Damon spun the katana between his fingers and knocked the spear aside. At the same time, he raised the palm of his other hand. A small tornado appeared above it, spinning with a level of violence completely disproportionate to its size. The current caught the Fallen Angel descending from above and began twisting his body in midair.
His screams spread throughout the entire area as the pressure tore him apart inside the vortex. Blood, feathers, and pieces of flesh were thrown in every direction before being pulled back into the current.
Georg, seeing the Fallen Angel who had thrown the spear, was getting close behind Damon. He quickly saw that as an opportunity and activated his swapping magic, replacing him in an instant.
The Fallen Angel was transported to the position Georg had occupied seconds earlier, completely confused, while the magician already had one hand extended toward Damon's back.
A magic circle opened in front of his palm..... A burst of white and blue lightning erupted at point-blank range, but Damon was not the God of the Sky for nothing. He neutralized the human's lightning with ease..... Georg's eyes widened slightly.
Damon seized the brief moment of surprise, one hand clamping around the human's wrist before he could pull it back, the other gripping his throat. Georg clenched his teeth, refusing to make a sound.
Damon stared directly into his eyes. "Who are you, boy?" he asked coldly. "And why are you helping the Fallen Angels? You're far too talented to waste yourself on something like this."
Georg held his gaze without looking away. "You have no idea who you're dealing with." Damon narrowed his eyes at the confidence in the human's voice. While Damon processed his words, a small smile appeared on Georg's face. Believing he had distracted Damon.
Georg raised his free hand..... Several Norse runes began appearing around his arm, extending from his fingers to his shoulder. The symbols rotated around one another and formed multiple glowing rings that began closing around Damon.
The redhead immediately recognized the sealing technique that he was attempting. Georg pointed his palm toward Damon's chest. "Got you," the brown-haired human shouted victoriously.
Unfortunately for him, Damon was not the father of the Uzumaki for nothing..... A series of black symbols appeared across the god's chest and rapidly spread over his skin. They were Uzumaki seals, far more complex than the runes Georg had created. The lines connected with one another, forming a barrier between the human's hand and Damon's body and unraveling the Norse runes before they could accomplish anything.
Georg's eyes widened in shock..... He did not recognize those symbols. They did not belong to Norse, Biblical, Demonic, or any other form of magic he had studied.
Damon rapidly reviewed everything that had happened: the position swap and the sealing technique hidden behind Georg's words. An amused smile appeared on his face. "You're certainly clever, I will give you that."
Georg gritted his teeth.
"Fuck you."
