Joshua did look sorry and helpless as he replied. His eyes told Daniel that he was not saying no because he wanted to keep his brother tied up, but because he did not want Ivan to snap.
It was a delicate time for the Enigma. His emotions, as well as his instincts, must be in overdrive, trying to control each other but not being able to settle.
Daniel had once read about ABO biology, and the section about Enigmas was limited. But it specifically warned them not to initiate a bonding that they could not complete because it sent their instincts out of control.
Currently, Ivan must be feeling the same thing.
'Ivan is stronger than I am. I don't think I would have been able to handle starting a bond that I could not control.'
Daniel knew himself well, and that was why he also knew that he needed to break whatever was between him and Ivan. The longer he allowed the Enigma to stay around him, the longer he would make Ivan suffer.
