"As expected, the brains of idiots who get brainwashed and hypnotized really don't work normally."
Watching Obito Uchiha die just like that left Jie feeling strangely unsatisfied. Obito deserved to die, but dying this cleanly still felt too easy.
Jie had already said everything that needed to be said and let Obito die knowing the truth, so there was nothing more to do.
"Forget it. Dead is dead."
After a while, Jie shook his head helplessly and removed Obito's remaining Mangekyō Sharingan.
The Sharingan could not be allowed to keep circulating outside the clan, especially not Obito's. This was a rare Mangekyō Sharingan.
After taking the eye, Jie casually used Fire Release and burned Obito's body to ash. Then he turned to Nagato and Konan.
"After I finish dealing with everything here, I'll take the three brats back to Konoha. As for you two, go to Konoha on your own."
He looked at them calmly. "Of course, don't think about running. The consequences won't be something you want to see."
If he took Nagato and Konan with him, he would have to explain their identities to the three brats again. Jie had already wasted enough breath today and had no interest in explaining more, so he simply let them handle Akatsuki's remaining affairs themselves.
If they really dared to run, that would be even better. He could just wipe out the Land of Rain.
Nagato and Konan were both surprised when they heard this, and relief flashed in their eyes. They had thought they would be taken back to Konoha immediately and placed under watch, but Jie had actually left them time to settle things first.
At least for now, that was more mercy than they had expected.
After giving his instructions, Jie did not wait for their answer. He believed Nagato and Konan were smart enough to know what choice they should make.
But just as he was about to leave, Nagato called out to him.
"Is there something else?"
Jie frowned and looked at him coldly. Giving Nagato and Konan time to deal with their remaining affairs was already his greatest mercy. If Nagato wanted to push his luck, then he could not blame Jie for being rude.
What Jie did not expect was for Nagato to reach up and remove the Rinnegan from his left eye before he could even finish speaking.
Nagato faced Jie's direction with a faint smile.
"Isn't this Rinnegan your spoils of war? I'll give it to you now."
"From now on, Akatsuki, the Eye of the Moon Plan, and everything else have nothing to do with me anymore."
Even Jie paused for a moment.
These people really were harsher on themselves than on their enemies.
But since Nagato had taken out the Rinnegan himself, it saved Jie the trouble. He took out a sealing scroll and sealed the Rinnegan together with Ao's Byakugan, then carefully stored it away.
The Rinnegan was far beyond the Byakugan, and this was one of only two Rinnegan left in the current Ninja World. Jie naturally could not be careless with it.
Once the Rinnegan was stored away, Jie left without looking back and headed toward Kumogakure.
By the time Jie returned, the fighting everywhere had already ended.
The Akatsuki ninja had received Konan's message and retreated. Aside from Asuma Sarutobi, who had died miserably at Rasa's hands, the other Akatsuki members had all managed to escape more or less intact, though they had paid a certain price.
The battle between Kirigakure and Kumogakure had also stopped.
The reason was simple. So simple, in fact, that even Jie had not expected it to be related to him.
From beginning to end, Jie had used two large-scale attacks.
The first was the Rasenshuriken. He had originally aimed it at the Akatsuki members, but Heavenly Path Pain deflected it with Almighty Push, sending it crashing into Kumogakure instead.
By sheer coincidence, it landed near the area where Kirigakure's main force had gathered.
At that time, Raiga Kurosuki and Zabuza Momochi had just carved open a path through Kumogakure and were preparing to gather the Kirigakure ninja for a large-scale battle inside the village.
Only for Jie's Rasenshuriken to fall right on top of them.
The Rasenshuriken's landing point was slightly off. Otherwise, the three thousand Kirigakure ninja Mei Terumi had brought might have been wiped out on the spot.
Even so, Raiga Kurosuki and Ranmaru died immediately.
Zabuza and Haku were luckier. Haku instinctively used Ice Release to block part of the damage, but both of them were still badly injured and had basically lost the ability to fight.
As for the three thousand Kirigakure ninja gathered there, more than half were taken out by Jie's Rasenshuriken alone.
Before the surviving Kirigakure ninja could even understand what had happened, another massive sword energy swept through the area.
It was the sword energy from Jie's forty-meter greatsword when he cut through Heavenly Path Pain's Almighty Push.
For the already devastated Kirigakure forces, this was simply making things worse. Out of three thousand ninja, less than thirty percent survived, and even those who lived were barely in any shape to keep fighting.
When Mei Terumi heard how badly Kirigakure had been hit, her face went pale.
Three thousand elite Kirigakure ninja had joined this plan, only to suffer disastrous losses. If she had known this would happen, she never would have agreed to take part.
Unfortunately, regret changed nothing.
But although Kirigakure's losses were heavy, Kumogakure was not much better off.
Kirigakure had only lost ninja, while Kumogakure's entire village had been torn apart.
Jie's Rasenshuriken had destroyed nearly a third of the village, and the sword energy that stretched for who knew how many kilometers had cut through countless buildings.
Add in the aftershocks from Nagato's repeated Almighty Push, and less than a quarter of Kumogakure remained intact.
The rest would have to be rebuilt.
When Jie heard the news and saw Yugito Nii looking like she wanted to cry but had no tears, he almost laughed out loud.
They formed an alliance, and then their own village got destroyed.
Since the founding of the ninja villages, Kumogakure was probably the only one to pull off something like this.
Most of the damage had been caused by him, but so what? He was Konoha's Hokage, not Kumogakure's Raikage.
Just then, the system notification sounded in his mind, and Jie finally smiled.
