Jie looked at Nagato and said it calmly.
"The real Uchiha Madara?" Konan asked in confusion. "But didn't Uchiha Madara die at the hands of the God of Shinobi, Hashirama Senju?"
Jie shook his head.
"Not really."
"Madara fooled Hashirama Senju, and he fooled the entire Ninja World."
"Not only did he survive, but before faking his death, he bit off a piece of Hashirama's flesh. That gave him Hashirama's power."
"From then on, the power of the Uchiha and the power of the Senju became one. That was how Madara obtained the power of the Sage of Six Paths."
"In other words, the Rinnegan evolved from the Sharingan."
"No one is born with the Rinnegan."
Jie's tone stayed calm.
Even as a transmigrator with help from a system, he still had not awakened the Rinnegan. He had not even touched the edge of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan yet.
How could someone be so talented that they were born with the Rinnegan?
Of course, the Otsutsuki Clan was an exception. After eating who knew how many chakra fruits, they were already a different species.
After hearing Jie's words, Nagato felt something inside him collapse.
"Why?"
"Why would Uchiha Madara do that?"
"If he had already obtained the power of the Rinnegan, why would he hand that power to someone else?"
Nagato muttered, unable to accept it.
"Because of his lifespan," Jie explained.
"Although Madara had awakened the Rinnegan, he was already an old man on the verge of death. He could only rely on the Gedo Statue to stay alive."

"From beginning to end, you were only a tool for someone else's plan. That, and the sacrifice meant to bring Madara back."
Nagato fell silent.
Then he suddenly laughed.
"I was just a sacrifice."
"Hahahaha!"
His laughter was full of grief, and tears ran down his face.
"Because of these eyes, Yahiko died. My parents died too."
"I thought they were a gift from heaven, something meant to help me end this chaotic world."
"But from beginning to end, it was all someone else's scheme."
"Cough, cough, cough!"
Nagato's face flushed red. He looked almost mad as he vented everything inside him, and his already frail body could barely take it.
Konan watched him worriedly, but she did not know how to comfort him. If she had gone through the same thing, she probably would not be much calmer than Nagato.
"What use do I have for this eye?"
"If this eye is the source of everything, then I'll destroy it."
Nagato suddenly muttered as if he had lost himself. Then he raised his thin, bony hand and thrust it toward his left eye.
Jie's brows immediately furrowed, and he stopped Nagato coldly.
"Nagato, don't forget. The Rinnegan is the bargaining chip I used to spare you."
"This remaining Rinnegan is already mine. It is only being kept with you for now."
The Rinnegan was his trophy. Black Zetsu had already stolen one, so Jie would not let Nagato destroy the last one.
Nagato froze, then smiled bitterly.
"Sorry. I lost control."
Jie snorted and let the matter go for the moment.
"If I was only a sacrifice, then what about Obito Uchiha?"
Nagato pointed at Obito's fake corpse on the ground. "Was he also one of the sacrifices Madara chose?"
"Him?"
Jie glanced at Obito's fake corpse and gave a disdainful laugh.
"Just a fool who was kept in the dark for years."
"A useless idiot who got sold and still helped count the money. He wasn't even qualified to be a sacrifice."
When Obito heard Jie's judgment, humiliation surged through him, and he subconsciously clenched his fist.
If he had been any match for Jie, those few words alone would have been enough to make him jump up and fight.
"Back then, Madara kept himself alive with the Gedo Statue so he could choose a successor. Or more accurately, someone to keep the Eye of the Moon Plan moving after his death."
"And Obito Uchiha was the one he chose."
"To get Obito, Madara used White Zetsu to set a trap for him. As expected, Obito fell into Iwagakure's trap and disappeared from the Ninja World."

Jie gave a mocking laugh.
Half of Obito's current body was made from White Zetsu. The other half was his original ruined body. Because of that, Obito gained power his original talent could never have reached.
But as far as Jie was concerned, that kind of power was better left unwanted.
"To make Obito awaken the strongest power of the Uchiha Clan, Madara set another trap."
"He captured the girl Obito loved most and planted a curse seal in her heart, the same kind as yours. The goal was to make Obito watch the girl he loved die by the hand of his best friend."
"That pain awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan."
"Believing his best friend had betrayed him, Obito willingly fell into darkness and became Madara's most loyal pawn."
As he spoke, Jie seemed to remember something. He turned his head and looked at Obito's corpse with a cold smile.
"If I remember right, her name was Rin Nohara, wasn't it?"
"What do you say, Obito?"
The moment he heard Rin Nohara's name, Obito could not hold back anymore. He flipped himself up from the ground, stared at Jie, and roared.
"You're lying! I saw Kakashi kill Rin with my own eyes!"
