Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: Slaying Corvus Glaive

Corvus Glaive was consumed by grief, his face twisting violently. His already grotesque features became even more hideous, forming a stark contrast with Aurelius Viremont, who maintained his gentle, composed smile.

The war-glaive tore through the air, whistling toward Aurelius Viremont with a lethal arc. But this attack—which could easily cleave through the Hulk's defenses—came to a dead halt exactly five meters in front of Aurelius Viremont.

Looking at Corvus, who was letting out incoherent roars of rage, the gentle smile on Aurelius Viremont's face gradually morphed into one of pure amusement. He deliberately shrank the distance of his Limitless, creating the illusion that his defense was buckling under Corvus's onslaught. He even said with exaggerated theatrics:

"Oh, how terrifying! You're almost going to hit me! Please, don't come any closer!"

Blinded by rage and hatred, Corvus failed to notice the playfulness in Aurelius Viremont's eyes. Seeing that he was getting closer to the enemy who murdered his wife, a flash of excitement crossed his face.

I can win! His defense isn't truly invincible!

Corvus swung his blade faster, whipping up a gale inside the control room. With every swing, Aurelius Viremont retracted the Limitless just a bit more. Soon, Corvus was standing directly in front of him. Feeling that he had finally reached his target, Corvus could no longer suppress his triumph as he bellowed:

"Lowly Earthling, go to hell!"

Watching the blade rush toward him, Aurelius Viremont feigned a look of terror. Acting as if he were panicking, he clumsily reached out his palm to block the strike. Seeing this, Corvus could already visualize the blade lopping off Aurelius Viremont's arm and splitting him in two! Vengeance for his wife was at hand!

But in the next instant, as if by pure coincidence, the supersonic blade was stopped by a single, slender, well-defined index finger. Under Corvus's incredulous gaze, the weapon went from extreme motion to absolute stillness in a heartbeat.

Then, he saw the "terrified" human finally burst into laughter. The panic and despair vanished, replaced by mockery:

"Hahaha... your face is hilarious! Did you really think you could win?"

Aurelius Viremont clutched his stomach, laughing uncontrollably as he watched Corvus's expression shift from excitement to shock, and then to blank bewilderment. He couldn't help himself; he doubled over in laughter!

Corvus finally realized he was being toyed with. Driven past the point of reason by Aurelius Viremont's mockery, he let out a roar and put every ounce of his strength into one last desperate cleave.

However, the blade capable of cutting atoms was stopped by that same index finger once again. Not an inch further could it go. That seemingly fragile finger held back the weapon, and the skin didn't even show a faint white mark from the pressure.

Facing this absolute gap in power, Corvus screamed in despair: "NO!"

Aurelius Viremont picked his ear nonchalantly and began walking toward him. The Limitless expanded slowly again. Corvus kept swinging his blade just as he had at the start, but now, the opposite happened: no matter how hard he attacked, the distance between him and Aurelius Viremont kept growing until it reached the original five meters.

Aurelius Viremont kept moving forward. Even when Corvus was pinned against the metal wall, unable to move, Aurelius Viremont didn't stop. As he drew closer, Corvus's skin and bones began to crumble under the sheer pressure.

The metal wall behind him couldn't have done this alone; Aurelius Viremont was simultaneously applying a repulsive force to the wall itself. Corvus's body was essentially being crushed between two opposing forces of repulsion.

"Aaargh..."

Under the immense pressure, Corvus's body was quickly reduced to a pulp. However, he possessed a potent healing factor; even as he turned into a mass of mangled flesh, he didn't die. He even managed to vibrate his remaining organs to speak:

"Hahaha, you can't kill me... and one day, I will kill you!"

Facing this confident provocation, Aurelius Viremont's smile remained unchanged. He whispered:

"True. Unless I destroy the glaive that houses your soul, you won't die. Your body will regenerate infinitely. With that blade, you are effectively immortal."

The frantic laughter on Corvus's face froze. "How... how do you know my power?"

But he quickly regained his bravado: "So what if you know? My glaive is indestructible! Not even Lord Thanos can break it, let alone you!"

"Is that so?" Aurelius Viremont used gravity to pull the fallen glaive from the floor into his hand. He gripped it tightly, and even with the discharge of black-red lightning from a Black Flash, the weapon remained whole.

Seeing this, Corvus's grin returned: "A mere human thinks he can destroy my blade? Stop dreaming!"

Aurelius Viremont wasn't angry; he just looked at him with pity. "I've encountered too many things claiming to be indestructible. The most notable was the Destroyer Armor from Asgard. I wonder... is your blade sturdier than Odin's Destroyer?"

Corvus's expression went rigid. He knew of the Destroyer and its terrifying power—a force capable of rivaling the Celestials. No matter how much confidence he had in his weapon, he didn't think it could compare to that.

The bravado vanished instantly. He asked, trembling: "What are you going to do?"

Aurelius Viremont didn't answer. He had played enough. He tightened his grip on the glaive. This time, an azure light condensed in his palm, followed by a black-red glow.

The two collided and merged. A horrific sphere of purple imaginary mass manifested in Aurelius Viremont's hand!

Hollow Technique: Purple!

Faced with a mass that could pierce through space itself, the "indestructible" glaive began to break down before his eyes. The parts touched by the purple sphere were simply erased from existence, leaving no trace behind.

As the blade was annihilated, Corvus let out a scream of soul-shattering agony. His soul was tied to the weapon; as it was erased, so was he. Whether out of dark humor or pure malice, Aurelius Viremont didn't erase it instantly, but allowed the process to occur slowly.

Finally, minutes later, the screaming stopped. The mangled flesh pinned against the wall ceased its writhing and fell into absolute silence.

Corvus Glaive, the most powerful of the Black Order and the "immortal" general of Thanos, had been effortlessly slain by Aurelius Viremont.
