Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 — The Secret Within

Morning mist clung to the Heavenly Flow Sect's peaks, soft rays of sunlight slicing through the clouds. The sprawling sect was alive with energy — disciples sparring in the training grounds, cultivation energy flowing like rivers between floating platforms, and ancient stone halls standing proudly among towering trees.

Yet amidst this lively scene, Seo Joon felt a tension pressing against him, heavier than any ordinary spiritual energy.

Seol Ah walked beside him, her white robes brushing against the wind. "The energy here… it's different," she whispered. "It feels alive."

Seo Joon's gaze swept over the sect, but his attention was elsewhere. Deep inside his chest, the Abyssal Heart pulsed quietly, a restrained storm of forbidden power. Its whispers lingered in the shadows of his mind, but he had learned to ignore them — for now.

High above the inner sect, hidden inside a secret chamber carved into the mountainside, a faint light pulsed from an ancient jade-and-gold device.

It was the Ancestral Locator, crafted centuries ago by the founders of the Heavenly Flow Sect. Its purpose: to detect forbidden energies, rare powers, and extraordinary cultivators.

The moment Seo Joon had stepped into the sect with the Abyssal Heart within him, the instrument had flared violently.

Its signal surged through the mountains, reaching the ears of the Sect Master and the high elders. They had come not out of curiosity, but necessity.

The power it detected was dangerous, forbidden, and rare — but its presence also hinted at great potential.

Only the Sect Master, Seol Ah, and the elders understood the truth. To the rest of the disciples, Seo Joon was merely a boy with a rare dark-element cultivation trait.

The Sect Master's projection appeared before Seo Joon in the training courtyard, a towering figure of radiant energy.

"You carry something forbidden," the Sect Master said, his voice calm but carrying the weight of mountains. "The Abyssal Heart. Only a few in history have awakened it, and most have been destroyed by it."

Seo Joon's expression remained steady. "I have survived it," he said quietly.

The Sect Master's gaze swept over him. "Perhaps. But surviving is not enough. You must learn control. Otherwise, this power will consume you — and those around you."

Seol Ah stepped closer, her presence steady and reassuring. "I'll help him," she said softly.

The elders nodded in agreement. "From this moment on, your power is to remain hidden. Only we three and the Sect Master know its true nature. No one else must learn of it."

Seo Joon understood. The Abyssal Heart would remain his secret — his burden and his weapon.

The Sect Master extended his hand. A stream of flowing symbols entered Seo Joon's body, merging with his spiritual core.

"This is the Heavenly Void Restraint Art," the Sect Master explained. "It will teach you to suppress the Abyss, control its chaos, and use it without losing yourself. Fail, and you will be eliminated. Succeed, and you will become something no one in this world has ever seen."

Pain surged through Seo Joon's meridians, but he remained still, focusing on the flow of energy, letting it adjust to his Abyssal Heart rather than fighting it.

The projection faded. The elders and Seol Ah stepped back, watching him carefully.

"You will now enter the disciples' training grounds," one elder said. "Live among them. Train. Grow stronger. But remember — your secret must never be revealed. Not yet."

Seo Joon nodded. He adjusted the token in his hand and looked toward the training grounds. Hundreds of disciples were already sparring, their energies flashing and swirling through the air. Some glanced his way, curious, some with mild interest, none aware of the storm of forbidden power quietly beating within him.

Seol Ah smiled softly. "No matter how dangerous the path ahead, we'll walk it together," she said.

Seo Joon allowed himself a small nod.

High above the sect, hidden among the clouds, the ancient instrument pulsed quietly, still tracking the forbidden power within him. Though the rest of the world knew nothing, destiny had begun to weave its threads around the boy with the Abyssal Heart.
