Chapter 75 - Power Struggle

The Generator Chamber echoed with the sound of battle. Raikou stood at the center, electric mane crackling with power as six Aether Foundation operatives surrounded him with their Pokemon. The Legendary's presence was overwhelming, this was a creature that embodied thunder itself, facing down trained Electric-types that were impressive by normal standards but fundamentally outclassed.

"Magnezone squad, Thunderbolt formation!" the Aether leader commanded.

Three Magnezone positioned themselves in a triangle around Raikou, their magnetic fields synchronizing. Electricity arced between them, creating a contained electrical field meant to overwhelm even powerful opponents through coordinated assault.

"Raikou, Thunder Fang!" Sasuke called.

The Legendary Pokemon moved faster than the Magnezone could track. One moment he was at the formation's center, the next he'd closed the distance to the nearest Magnezone and clamped down with jaws wreathed in lightning. The Steel/Electric-type was hurled backward, its magnetic levitation disrupted by the concentrated attack.

The remaining two Magnezone attempted to capitalize on Raikou's committed position, launching Thunder attacks simultaneously. But Raikou's body absorbed the electrical discharge like it was nothing, Electric-types couldn't be damaged by Electric attacks. The principle was fundamental, yet the Aether operatives had chosen to fight an Electric Legendary with Electric-type Pokemon anyway.

"This is pointless," Sasuke observed. "Your Pokemon can't hurt Raikou. Surrender now before someone gets seriously injured."

"We're not trying to defeat it," the Aether leader replied, and his tone carried troubling confidence. "We're stalling while our equipment activates."

Behind the operatives, the sophisticated technology they'd brought began humming with power. Energy signatures spiked across multiple devices. And then, from concealed positions around the chamber, electromagnetic projectors activated.

Nets of pure electrical energy erupted from the devices, converging on Raikou's position. But these weren't ordinary nets, they were specifically designed to contain Electric-type Pokemon, using inverse polarity to negate electrical resistance.

Raikou roared as the nets made contact. The Legendary Pokemon's power was immense, but the technology was specifically engineered to counter Electric-types. Stasis fields formed around him, attempting to paralyze movement through electromagnetic manipulation.

"Capture protocol initiated," one Aether operative reported. "Subject immobilization at forty percent and climbing."

"What are you doing?" Miyuki demanded, watching in horror as Raikou struggled against the containment technology.

"Securing a valuable specimen," the Aether leader replied clinically. "A Legendary Pokemon will provide invaluable research data. Your trainer shouldn't have been able to catch it in the first place, we're simply correcting an abnormality."

Sasuke's jaw tightened. They were trying to capture Raikou. To steal his partner, one of the Pokemon he'd bonded with in Crown Tundra, treating him like an object to be collected rather than a being with agency.

"Raikou," he said quietly, knowing his Pokemon could hear him through the interference, "show them why Legendary Pokemon don't appreciate being caged."

The Thunder Pokemon's eyes blazed with fury. The stasis fields were strong, the electromagnetic nets were well-designed, but they were facing something beyond normal Electric-type power. This was a creature that could summon storms, that embodied the concept of thunder itself.

Raikou's roar shook the entire facility. His electrical output spiked beyond what the containment technology was designed to handle. The nets began sparking, overloading, structural integrity failing under the assault of pure elemental force.

"Containment failing!" an operative shouted. "Power output exceeding projections by three hundred percent!"

"Increase field strength! We can't lose this specimen!" the leader commanded.

But it was too late. Raikou unleashed Thunder, not the move as trainers understood it, but the actual phenomenon. A pillar of lightning erupted from his body with apocalyptic force, obliterating the electromagnetic nets, destroying the containment devices, and sending feedback surges through every piece of Aether Foundation equipment in the chamber.

Screens exploded. Generators caught fire. The sophisticated technology they'd brought was reduced to smoking wreckage in seconds.

"Fall back!" the Aether leader finally ordered. "Retreat protocol!"

But the damage was done. Raikou's Thunder attack had released so much energy that the power plant's ancient systems couldn't handle it. Circuit breakers that hadn't functioned in fifty years failed to trip. Power surges cascaded through the facility's electrical grid.

Warning klaxons blared throughout the building. Emergency systems that had been dormant activated with mechanical screams. And most critically, the generators themselves began spinning out of control, their ancient limiters unable to cope with sudden power loads.

"The facility is going critical!" Kiyomi shouted, reading emergency displays on the wall. "We have minutes before catastrophic failure!"

The Aether operatives were already fleeing, abandoning their ruined equipment and captured Pokemon in their panic. But Sasuke's focus was on something more important, the wild Electric-types still inside the facility.

Magnemite hiding in corners. Voltorb frozen with fear in corridors. The Electabuzz they'd seen earlier, now trapped behind a collapsed section of ceiling. And deeper in the facility, the caged Pokemon the Aether Foundation had already captured.

"We can't leave them," Miyuki said, already moving toward the cages. "They'll die when this place collapses!"

"Everyone, rescue operation!" Sasuke commanded. "Miyuki, get those caged Pokemon free. Kasumi, your team guides the wild Pokemon to exits. Kiyomi, you're on structural assessment, find us safe escape routes."

"What about you?" Kasumi asked.

"Creating those escape routes. Landorus, I need you!" Sasuke sent out the Ground/Flying Legendary. "We have to clear a path through the damaged sections."

Landorus materialized with a rumbling roar, immediately understanding the emergency situation. The Legendary Pokemon's control over earth and sky made him perfect for this, he could manipulate the facility's structure itself.

"Earth Power, controlled bursts!" Sasuke directed. "Collapse the unstable sections in ways that create clear paths rather than blocking them!"

Landorus's eyes glowed with energy. The ground beneath them shuddered as he exerted his power, causing precise structural failures that actually improved evacuation routes. Walls that were about to fall randomly were brought down in controlled collapses. Debris was shifted to create wider passages.

Meanwhile, Miyuki worked frantically on the cages. The locks were electronic, powered by the facility's dying electrical system. She tried manual override switches, but years of corrosion made them difficult to operate.

"Shaymin, Seed Bomb on the lock mechanisms! Precision strikes only!"

Her Grass-type partner unleashed concentrated explosives that shattered locks without harming the caged Pokemon. Magnemite, Voltorb, Pikachu, and Jolteon emerged from their prisons, initially confused but quickly understanding they were being rescued.

"Go that way!" Miyuki directed them toward where Landorus was creating exit paths. "Follow the Ground-type's directions!"

Kasumi's Pokemon were spread throughout the facility, guiding panicked wild Pokemon toward safety. Gardevoir used Psychic to lift Pokemon that couldn't navigate debris. Butterfree released calming powder to prevent panic-induced stampedes. Togekiss's natural happiness aura helped frightened Pokemon trust that escape was possible. Glaceon created ice platforms over hazardous sections. Espeon's Future Sight detected areas about to collapse, allowing them to redirect evacuation routes.

"This way!" Kasumi called to a group of Voltorb who were rolling in circles, too frightened to find exits. "Follow Togekiss! She knows the way out!"

Kiyomi worked with her Ninetales, the Alolan variant's Ice/Fairy typing perfect for creating protective barriers. Aurora Veil shielded groups of evacuating Pokemon from falling debris. Ice Beam reinforced unstable sections temporarily, buying precious seconds. And her archaeological expertise let her read the facility's structure, predicting where collapses would occur.

"That ceiling section is about to go!" she shouted to Sasuke. "We need to evacuate the eastern corridor immediately!"

"Landorus, Earth Power on the eastern support columns! Bring them down safely before they fall randomly!"

The Legendary Pokemon complied, causing a controlled collapse that sealed off the dangerous section while keeping the evacuation route clear.

All around them, the facility was dying. Fifty years of dormancy followed by sudden overload had pushed ancient systems beyond any hope of recovery. Metal groaned as structural supports failed. Concrete cracked as foundation integrity was lost. Fires spread through old wiring. The generators spun faster and faster, approaching the point where they'd tear themselves apart.

But through the chaos, Pokemon were escaping. Wild Electric-types that had made this place their home fled through exits that Landorus created. Captured Pokemon that Aether Foundation had imprisoned found freedom thanks to Miyuki's efforts. Every Pokemon in the facility was being guided to safety through the coordinated rescue operation.
