Darian.
The forest seemed to be holding its breath. Every leaf trembled in the wind. Shadows twisted unnaturally, like they had a life of their own. The air smelled of damp earth, moss, and a faint metallic tang that made my stomach tighten blood, danger, and something else… a desire I couldn't name.
I moved ahead, every muscle coiled, senses sharp.
The power coursing through me made the darkness bend, ripple, and curl around my steps.
She struggled to keep up, legs burning, but I couldn't focus on anything except her.the fire she carried inside her, the bond we shared, the way her pulse synced with mine.
I shot out my hand and gripped her arm, firm, protective, dominant.
"You're mine,"
I whispered, low, rough, commanding. I felt her shiver beneath my touch, her chest fluttering violently. Her pulse spiked, heat flaring through her in ways the cold night couldn't touch.
Kael stirred within me, primal, insatiable. "Mine… all of her. She bleeds fire. She burns… I will not let anyone touch her!"
I tightened my jaw, golden eyes locking onto hers.
"Control yourself," I murmured softly. "Not here.
Not yet.
But do you feel it? The hunger? The fire?"
"Yes," she whispered, trembling.
"I… I feel it. I can't explain it, but I feel it."
The forest seemed to lean closer, waiting. Then a movement.fast, jagged, impossible snapped me back to reality. A dark figure lunged from the shadows, claws extended.
I stepped in front of her, shadow erupting from my body like liquid night. It wrapped around the attacker with lethal precision, crushing, constricting, sending the figure crashing into a tree, splintering it violently.
Kael roared inside me,
"Rip it apart!
Tear it to shreds!
She is MINE!"
I shook my head slightly, grounding myself. "Not yet. Protect her.
Don't kill recklessly. She's still learning."
I could feel her responding, flames licking at her hands, twisting with my shadow. Every heartbeat, every breath, every movement pressed the bond deeper. Desire, power, protection, fire they all coiled together, almost unbearable in intensity.
I leaned closer, eyes molten gold locking with hers.
"Do you see? You can be strong… but never without me. Without Kael."
She swallowed hard, fingers twitching, wanting, needing, reaching. I pressed my hand to hers, letting shadow curl around her palm, heat pulsing through both of us. "Together," I whispered. "Always together.
I won't let anyone touch you."
The attacker recovered, snarling, and lunged again.
Flames erupted from her hands, merging with my shadows into a perfect storm of power. I caught her wrist mid-swing, holding her close.
My teeth brushed her jaw lightly teasing, possessive.
"You're mine," I whispered. "All of you. Understand?"
"Yes…" she gasped, trembling. "Yours…"
Kael roared again within me, "Mine! Always mine! She bleeds fire… she burns… claim her completely!"
I tightened my grip, forcing control, channeling the fire and shadow together. "Calm, Kael. Protect her… don't destroy."
The forest trembled as if acknowledging our bond.scorching, unbreakable, alive. And then, behind us, the ground cracked open jagged, black, enormous. From it rose a creature of pure shadow, molten red eyes blazing, heading straight for us.
I pressed her against me, shadow curling around us like a living shield, fire licking from her hands, coiling into my power.
My voice dropped into a low growl, half warning, half hunger, vibrating through us both.
"Mine. Protect her… or die."
I felt Kael and I pressing into her, staking our claim, possessiveness and desire intertwining. She gasped, trembling, the fire of her body matching the shadow of mine, the bond screaming alive. I knew, in that instant, she didn't just want me.
She needed me.
I needed her. Human and beast. Fire and shadow. Protection and raw, insatiable desire. All of her. Mine.
The creature lunged again. I shifted, shadow flaring, darkness slicing through the air, entwining with her flames.
Together, we became unstoppable a storm of fire, shadow, and bond. Every movement was instinct, power, protection, and hunger.
And in the chaos, I whispered, just for her:
"You're mine… and I will keep you that way. Always."
Her eyes met mine, and she smiled fear, relief, and desire mingling in that small, perfect gesture.
The forest shook. The bond roared. And I knew this was only the beginning.
