Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2:THE AWAKENING

Lyra.

The morning sun filtered through the treetops, painting the hidden glade in dappled gold. Mist clung to the ground like restless spirits, swirling around my ankles as I followed him silently.

He didn't speak at first. The forest was quiet, but the air hummed with energy I could feel in my chest a rhythm in sync with the mark burning on my wrist. Every step I took seemed to awaken it further.

Finally, he stopped at a clearing dominated by an ancient tree, its roots curling like coiled serpents. "Here," he said, his golden eyes scanning me carefully, "you will learn to control it. Your power doesn't just awaken—it must obey you."

I swallowed hard.

"Control…? How?"

His gaze softened, almost imperceptibly. "Through trust.

Through focus.

Through understanding that you are not the prey anymore you are the predator."

He moved to a patch of sunlight and gestured for me to follow. Hesitantly, I stepped forward. My skin prickled as the energy inside me surged again, reacting to the Alpha's presence. I could feel it answering his commands, bending, stretching but wildly, like a storm threatening to break free.

"Good," he murmured. "Now, feel it.

Don't resist it. Let it move through you."

I closed my eyes, heart hammering. Images flashed in my mind shapes of creatures in the forest, shadows that twisted unnaturally, whispers carried on the wind.

The mark on my wrist flared like molten fire. And then… I felt it: power coursing through my veins, sharp and intoxicating.

Suddenly, a branch cracked behind me.

My eyes snapped open, and I saw movement a wolf, but unlike any I had seen. Its eyes glowed crimson, fur bristling. It circled, sniffing, assessing, as if testing me.

"Don't be afraid," he said calmly, stepping between me and the beast. But his eyes didn't leave me. "You feel it too, don't you? The bond. The pull of your own strength."

I nodded, trembling. The forest seemed to hold its breath again, waiting, watching. The wolf tilted its head, growling low, then froze as the energy radiating from me flared brighter.

"You're stronger than they thought," he whispered, almost in awe. "Stronger than you know."

The wolf let out a frustrated yelp and retreated into the shadows. My chest heaved. Fear had been replaced by… exhilaration.

Power.

Control.

He studied me for a long moment, his gaze sharp and unwavering.

"Tomorrow, we push harder. You will learn to command what lives inside you, or it will command you. And trust me, it won't be gentle."

I nodded again, heart still racing. But even as the adrenaline faded, one thought lingered like a shadow: something else is watching me, something older and hungrier than the forest itself.

And for the first time, I realized that the Alpha wasn't the only danger here my own power might be just as threatening.
