Chapter 126 - chapter 127: The Secret Agreement.

Adrian finally told me something he had kept hidden.

"There was an agreement between your father and Victor."

"What kind?"

"A non-destruction pact."

I frowned.

"That sounds strange."

"It means they agreed not to ruin each other completely."

That sounded impossible in their world.

"Why?"

Adrian answered carefully.

"Because they realized something."

"What?"

"That if either of them fell… worse people would take their place."

That thought stayed with me.

Because maybe my father wasn't just protecting himself.

Maybe he was protecting balance.

"And now?" I asked.

Adrian looked serious.

"Now Victor is checking if you understand that balance."

"And if I don't?"

His answer was direct.

"Then he may decide you are dangerous."

That was the first time I realized something clearly.

This wasn't about approval.

This was about survival at a higher level.

One of the smaller companies I helped earlier was struggling again.

Their director came to see me personally.

"I know we're not your biggest investment," he said nervously.

"But we trust you."

That sentence mattered more than the numbers.

I reviewed their situation.

Fixable.

But expensive.

Nora asked later:

"Why help them again?"

"Because loyalty must go both ways."

She looked thoughtful.

"Is that business or emotion?"

"Both."

Because I was starting to understand something my father probably knew.

People remember who stood with them when they were weak.

Months later that same company introduced me to three new partners.

Stronger.

Stable.

Profitable.

Adrian smiled when he saw the reports.

"Your father did the same thing."

"What?"

"Invested in people before profits."

That was the first time I felt like I wasn't just following his path.

I was understanding it.
