Daniel took the phone from Amara.
Before anyone could stop him.
"Let's hear everything," he said.
My chest tightened.
He pressed play again.
But this time…
The recording sounded different.
My voice.
My own voice.
"I don't care how we do it. Just move the money."
The room exploded.
My mind went blank.
"That's not—"
But people were already staring.
Judging.
Daniel sighed heavily.
"I didn't want to expose my wife like this."
The performance was perfect.
Too perfect.
Amara looked confused.
"That's impossible," she whispered.
Then it hit me.
The bank account.
The documents.
The audio.
Daniel had been planning this for months.
Maybe longer.
He didn't just want to leave me.
He wanted to destroy me completely.
And the worst part?
It was working.
But then someone unexpected spoke.
My mother.
And what she said changed everything.
