Chapter 103 - Chapter 100 : Interlude -Red

Author's Note: Its not a gym battle chapter that I will do next but its a interlude chapter anyway we have officially hit 100 chapters for this fic.

Narrator's POV

Inside the Celadon Police Department, Officer Jenny sat across from a rather expressionless ten-year-old boy named Red. Builders could be seen outside through the station windows, working tirelessly to repair the buildings damaged by the recent fire that had swept through parts of Celadon City. Meanwhile, inside the station, Jenny patiently questioned Red, who calmly explained how what was supposed to be a normal day had somehow turned into one disaster after another.

"...So you're telling me all of this happened today?" Jenny asked, rubbing her forehead.

Red simply nodded with his usual deadpan face.

"Yeah."

To understand how everything reached this point...

Let's rewind one day.

Third Person POV

Red had come to Celadon City's famous Game Corner with a simple goal. Blue had recently bragged about winning a rare Pokémon called Porygon from the prize counter, and naturally Red wanted to see if he could get one as well.

After receiving a free Coin Case from one of the gamblers inside, Red immediately sat down in front of one of the slot machines and started gambling.

His first few attempts were complete failures.

No matter what he did, the reels refused to line up.

Eventually though, he slowly started getting the hang of it. Every now and then the three sevens lined up, earning him another jackpot. His consistency gradually improved, but even then he quickly realized just how expensive the Pokémon prizes actually were. Winning enough coins for a rare Pokémon like Porygon would require an absurd number of jackpots.

While absentmindedly looking around the Game Corner, something suddenly caught his attention.

A Team Rocket grunt quietly walked toward one of the far corners of the building.

Red narrowed his eyes.

The grunt pressed against what looked like an ordinary section of the wall before disappearing through a hidden entrance. A moment later, the passage closed again as though nothing had happened.

His first instinct was immediate.

Follow him.

The memories of Mt. Moon and everything that had happened aboard the S.S. Anne immediately resurfaced. His dislike for Team Rocket had only grown stronger since those incidents.

But then...

He remembered the counseling session arranged by the Pokémon League after the S.S. Anne incident. Most of the trainers who had been aboard the ship had attended it, and one of the things they had been repeatedly told was not to recklessly investigate dangerous criminal organizations by themselves.

After thinking it over, Red decided to report what he had seen first.

He immediately headed toward the Celadon Police Department and informed the officers that he believed there was a hidden Team Rocket base inside the Game Corner.

Unfortunately...

Nobody believed him.

The Celadon Game Corner was a respected business with a long-standing reputation. To the officers, it sounded far more likely that the young trainer had simply misunderstood what he had seen.

Feeling frustrated, Red left the station.

If nobody else was willing to investigate...

Then maybe he would have to figure it out himself.

As he wandered through one of Celadon's quieter alleys, still annoyed by the police's refusal to listen, something suddenly caught his attention.

An injured Eevee was lying beside a pile of boxes.

Without hesitation, Red carefully picked it up and rushed toward the nearest Pokémon Center.

The moment Nurse Joy saw the injured Pokémon, she immediately frowned.

"What happened to this Eevee?"

Before Red could answer, she assumed the worst.

"You really shouldn't let your Pokémon get hurt like this."

Red quickly shook his head.

"It isn't mine. I found it lying injured on the street."

Joy blinked before her expression softened.

"...I see."

She immediately carried Eevee into the treatment room and began treating its injuries.

Everything appeared perfectly normal.

Until suddenly...

One of the Pokémon assisting Nurse Joy accidentally startled Eevee.

The frightened Pokémon lashed out instinctively.

A brilliant white light surrounded its body.

Both Red and Joy stared in surprise.

Eevee was evolving.

Moments later, the light faded to reveal a Flareon.

Before anyone could properly react, the newly evolved Pokémon panicked. Flames erupted from its body, setting several nearby pieces of equipment ablaze before it bolted out of the Pokémon Center.

Red immediately chased after it.

As he ran through Celadon City's streets, one thought lingered in his mind.

The Pokémon Center actually had a Fire Stone...

That must have somehow triggered the evolution.

After searching for several minutes, he finally reached a quiet lake on the outskirts of the city.

"I'm sure it came this way..."

Suddenly...

A Vaporeon burst out of the water.

"Water Gun!"

A powerful stream of water slammed directly into Red, completely soaking him from head to toe.

"What the..."

Before he could recover, the Vaporeon's body began glowing once more.

Its appearance changed.

The blue aquatic Pokémon transformed into Jolteon.

The Electric-type immediately fired a Shock Wave toward him.

Fortunately, Red's reflexes kicked in.

Years of occasionally getting caught in Pikachu's accidental Thunderbolts had given him surprisingly good instincts around Electric attacks. He quickly dodged to the side before throwing a Poké Ball.

"Ivysaur!"

Ivysaur appeared in front of him just as the strange Pokémon transformed yet again.

This time...

Jolteon became Flareon.

The battle didn't last very long.

Despite the strange evolutions, the Pokémon itself clearly lacked proper battle experience. Ivysaur calmly spread Sleep Powder throughout the area before following up with Leech Seed. The seeds steadily drained Flareon's stamina while the sleeping spores prevented it from properly retaliating.

Once the Pokémon had weakened enough, Red threw a Poké Ball.

Click.

Click.

Click.

Ding.

The capture succeeded.

Holding the Poké Ball, Red frowned.

Something about this Pokémon didn't feel natural.

He considered taking it back to Nurse Joy, but after everything that had just happened, another thought entered his mind.

This Eevee...

It had probably been experimented on.

Instead of returning to the Pokémon Center, Red headed back to the police station.

Officer Jenny sighed the moment she saw him return, already assuming he had come with another unbelievable story.

However, when Red released the captured Eevee, Nurse Joy, who had also been called over, immediately recognized it.

"That's the same Eevee!"

Red calmly explained everything that had happened after it fled the Pokémon Center. He described how it had changed from Flareon to Vaporeon, then into Jolteon, and finally back into Flareon again during the battle.

Officer Jenny still looked skeptical.

Until Nurse Joy spoke.

"I personally saw it evolve into Flareon without using a Fire Stone."

That statement immediately changed the atmosphere.

The officers carefully examined the Eevee and eventually discovered a strange metallic collar hidden beneath the fur around its neck.

The room became silent.

If that collar was responsible for allowing Eevee to freely switch between its evolved forms...

Then someone had clearly experimented on it.

Red folded his arms.

"I only know one organization capable of doing something this messed up."

Officer Jenny looked toward him.

"...Team Rocket."

This time, she didn't dismiss the idea.

Too many pieces were beginning to fit together.

A suspicious Team Rocket grunt entering a hidden passage inside the Game Corner.

An Eevee that appeared to have undergone illegal experimentation.

A mysterious collar attached to its neck.

The evidence was slowly becoming impossible to ignore.

Officer Jenny immediately contacted the Chief Officer Jenny responsible for coordinating the Kanto Police Force. If Red's story about a hidden Team Rocket base was true, then the officers currently stationed in Celadon City wouldn't be enough to handle it.

Barely thirty minutes later, the sound of sirens echoed throughout the city.

Multiple police transport vehicles arrived one after another, carrying heavily armed officers from across Kanto.

Stepping out at the front of the convoy...

Was Chief Officer Jenny herself, who had personally come to lead the operation.

——————————————————————-

The next few events unfolded so quickly that they almost felt like something straight out of a movie.

The moment the police force arrived, they immediately launched a full-scale raid on the Celadon Game Corner. Panic spread throughout the building as gamblers scrambled to escape in every direction, only to find officers already sealing every entrance and exit. Before beginning the operation, specialized jammers were deployed throughout the area, ensuring that no radio transmissions or emergency signals could be sent from inside the building. Whatever was hidden beneath the Game Corner, Team Rocket wasn't going to receive any warning.

Following Red's earlier statement, Officer Jenny personally led a group toward the suspicious corner he had pointed out. At first glance it looked completely ordinary, but after carefully searching the wall they discovered a hidden switch concealed behind one of the decorative posters.

Click.

The entire section of the wall slowly shifted.

A staircase leading deep underground revealed itself.

Officer Jenny couldn't help smiling.

"So the kid really wasn't lying..."

She looked down into the darkness.

"...Looks like we hit the jackpot."

Meanwhile, back at the Pokémon Center, Red patiently sat beside Eevee's bed, waiting for it to wake up. The little Pokémon had been through far more than anyone had initially realized, and despite everything that had happened, it still looked restless even while unconscious.

Eventually...

Its eyes slowly opened.

The first thing Eevee saw was Red sitting quietly nearby.

It immediately became alert.

Its body instinctively tensed, ready to flee if necessary.

After everything it had suffered at the hands of humans, distrust had become second nature.

But...

Something felt different.

When it looked into Red's eyes, it didn't see greed.

It didn't see curiosity.

It didn't see someone treating it as an experiment.

All it saw was pity.

Concern.

Understanding.

The wary look in Eevee's eyes slowly softened.

Its guard lowered just a little.

Red gently explained everything that had happened while it had been unconscious. He told Eevee that the people who had experimented on it were wrong, that what they had done should never have happened to any Pokémon. He also told it that the police had already begun raiding Team Rocket's underground base beneath the Game Corner and that, if everything went well, the place would soon be destroyed.

The moment Eevee heard those words...

It suddenly jumped off the bed.

Before Red could react, Eevee bolted straight out of the Pokémon Center.

"Eevee!"

Red immediately ran after it.

Deep beneath Celadon City...

The underground Team Rocket base had become a battlefield.

Police officers and Team Rocket grunts were locked in fierce combat throughout the maze-like facility. The Rockets clearly outnumbered the police, but the quality of the League's response force was on an entirely different level. Veteran officers from across Kanto had been assembled for this operation, pushing forward room by room despite the overwhelming resistance.

Eventually, by simply following the determined Eevee, Red managed to navigate the confusing underground corridors.

The twisting passages seemed almost impossible to understand.

Yet Eevee never hesitated.

As though it already knew exactly where it wanted to go.

Finally...

It stopped in front of a large steel door.

The moment Red stepped inside...

His entire body froze.

Rows upon rows of enormous glass containers filled the room.

Inside them...

Were Eevees.

Dozens of them.

Many were already dead.

Others had clearly been dissected.

Some had grotesque experimental equipment still attached to their bodies.

The room looked less like a laboratory...

And more like a graveyard.

Red's stomach twisted violently.

He turned away before immediately throwing up.

Beside him, Eevee stared silently at the countless containers.

Its entire body trembled.

Its eyes slowly filled with rage.

Then...

It roared.

Flamethrower erupted from its mouth.

The intense flames engulfed the laboratory almost instantly, consuming years of horrifying research within seconds. Glass shattered one after another as fire spread throughout the room.

Red didn't stop it.

Not this time.

Those Pokémon deserved better than remaining trapped inside those containers forever.

Just then...

A slow clap echoed through the burning laboratory.

Red spun around.

A man stepped out from behind him.

His expression carried equal parts annoyance and irritation.

"To think some little runt managed to discover this room."

He glanced around at the spreading fire before clicking his tongue.

"Everything's suddenly gone to shit."

Archer's gaze then shifted toward Eevee.

The irritation in his face disappeared.

In its place...

Appeared greed.

"So that's where you ended up."

His eyes locked onto the Pokémon.

"Listen carefully, kid."

"If you know what's good for you..."

"Hand over that Eevee."

His smile grew colder.

"That Pokémon is one of Team Rocket's prized possessions."

"We improved it after countless experiments and years of research."

Red's fists slowly clenched.

He finally understood.

This was the man responsible.

Everything...

The laboratory.

The experiments.

The dead Eevees.

The Pokémon trembling beside him.

All of it.

For perhaps the first time in his life...

Red genuinely hated someone.

"You..."

His voice trembled with anger.

"You're a monster."

"Go to hell."

He stepped protectively in front of Eevee.

"From now on..."

"Eevee stays with me."

Archer sighed.

"What a shame."

"I guess I'll have to kill a kid today."

Without another word, he threw two Poké Balls.

"Crobat."

"Swalot."

The two Poison-types appeared immediately.

Red responded just as quickly.

"Ivysaur!"

"Gyarados!"

"Pikachu!"

The three Pokémon landed in front of him.

Eevee also stepped forward.

Its body glowed.

Moments later...

It transformed into Vaporeon.

The battle erupted instantly.

Despite Red having the numerical advantage, Archer's experience quickly became apparent. Both Crobat and Swalot were significantly stronger than any of Red's Pokémon individually. Poison attacks continuously pressured Red's team while Crobat's incredible speed prevented them from properly coordinating.

One by one...

Most of Red's Pokémon became poisoned.

Only Ivysaur managed to avoid it.

But Red wasn't fighting without accomplishing anything.

Leech Seed slowly drained Archer's Pokémon.

Pikachu repeatedly landed Thunder Wave, leaving both Crobat and Swalot partially paralyzed.

Neither side was escaping the battle unharmed.

After several minutes, Archer finally sighed.

"This farce has gone on long enough."

He reached for another Poké Ball.

"To think I'd actually need another Pokémon against some brat."

The Poké Ball opened.

The room itself seemed to become smaller.

A gigantic dragon appeared.

Dark green scales.

Powerful crimson markings.

Enormous blue wings.

Salamence.

It dominated the laboratory the moment it appeared.

Red instinctively took a step backward.

His heart pounded.

He had never faced anything like this before.

Every instinct in his body screamed at him to run.

But...

He looked toward Eevee.

No.

If protecting Eevee meant standing against even a monster like Salamence...

Then he would fight.

Just as Salamence prepared to attack...

A calm voice echoed through the room.

"Dragonite."

"Ice Beam."

A brilliant beam of ice struck Salamence from the side.

The Dragon-type roared before immediately turning toward the new challenger.

Standing near the entrance...

Was another Dragonite.

Salamence's instincts immediately took over.

Without another thought, it abandoned Red entirely and charged toward the opposing dragon.

Archer frowned.

"...Who?"

His eyes shifted toward the newcomer.

A man dressed entirely in black stepped into the room.

A pair of dark goggles covered his eyes.

His face remained unreadable.

Red had never seen him before.

The mysterious man didn't even glance toward Archer.

Instead, he looked directly at Red.

"Get out of here."

"Now."

Red didn't need to be told twice.

He grabbed Eevee into his arms and immediately began running.

Archer attempted to pursue them.

Unfortunately...

The mysterious trainer wasn't finished.

Another Poké Ball opened.

"Dusknoir."

The Ghost-type emerged silently before immediately using Mean Look, trapping Archer's Pokémon in place.

Swalot fired a Sludge Bomb.

Crobat followed with another poisonous attack.

Dusknoir simply endured both attacks as though they were nothing.

It didn't even flinch.

Behind him, Red continued running as fast as his legs would carry him.

Clutching Eevee tightly in his arms.

For Eevee...

This had been enough.

Its family...

The countless Eevees trapped inside those horrible containers...

Were finally free.

Their bodies would never again be used for those horrific experiments.

At the very least...

They could finally rest.

Moments later, Red barely managed to escape the underground facility.

Then...

BOOM!!

A deafening explosion shook the earth behind him.

The underground base erupted into flames.

Fire spread rapidly throughout sections of Celadon City.

Smoke filled the sky.

Sirens echoed everywhere.

People screamed as emergency crews rushed toward the blaze.

The entire city descended into chaos.

Red simply stood there...

Watching the inferno.

He absolutely hated this day.

"And..."

Red looked toward Officer Jenny.

"...that's everything I saw."

Jenny let out a long sigh.

Part of her wanted to scold him for entering the underground base.

But...

She couldn't ignore the truth.

The police themselves had initially dismissed his warning.

If they had trusted him immediately, perhaps none of this would have happened.

Besides...

Looking at Red now...

She could already tell he blamed himself.

Not because he had entered the base.

But because of everything Eevee had gone through.

To think Team Rocket had taken Pokémon experimentation this far...

It was horrifying.

Even worse...

The entire operation had existed directly beneath their noses.

Red quietly informed her that Eevee was now staying with Professor Oak.

The Professor was already researching a way to help stabilize Eevee's condition. Constantly evolving and changing forms was placing tremendous strain on its body, but Red had complete faith that Professor Oak would eventually find a solution.

Jenny nodded.

"I'm sure Professor Oak will do everything he can."

Once the questioning was complete, she allowed Red to leave.

His statement had already provided most of the information they needed from his perspective.

Before he left, however, Jenny informed him that the Pokémon League intended to reward him for his role in exposing Team Rocket's base.

Red simply shook his head.

"I don't care about an award."

"If the League can just make sure those Team Rocket members stay behind bars..."

"...that's all the reward I need."

Jenny quietly watched him.

She recognized that expression.

Putting them behind bars...

Wasn't truly what Red wanted.

Deep down...

The boy wanted revenge.

She couldn't blame him after everything he had witnessed.

But...

He was still only a child.

After Red finally left the station, Jenny immediately contacted the Pokémon League.

"This is the third confirmed Team Rocket incident this child has experienced."

She sighed.

"Arrange another counseling session."

"I think... he needs it."

Author's Note: Yes the upload timing is a bit late but I wanted to get this done today , also yes that your a monster was inspired by the new spiderman movie , I know I have made Red feel too much emotion , but manga red did have a lot of emotion compared to the games counter part and this was how I thought introducing his eevee which could shapeshift would be done , I will be taking away that ability though for eevee as Oak would try to remove that collar thats been surgically emebedded to eevee as the poor thing goes through discomfort after what the rockets did to it but it would still be able to use fire, water and electric moves unlike a normal eevee and would eventually become Red's Espeon as you see in the games.
