The two of them walked toward a relatively flat and secluded area before sitting down to rest.
Alvin removed the disguise from his face and let out a slow breath.
"Alvin, why did you come to Sagamia? Now that they were temporarily safe, Robin looked at Alvin's youthful face with a teasing smile forming in her eyes.
Alvin rolled his eyes at her. "Not a chance. I came for Zelas. Though I am curious, why did he suddenly change his attitude and decide to capture you?"
"Sigh…" Robin let out a soft breath. "If I am not mistaken, the World Government must have sent someone. That probably forced Zelas to change his stance. But I am used to it. After I leave here, I will just find another place to stay."
She had experienced this kind of betrayal many times before.
If not for Alvin this time, she would not have escaped the gang's pursuit so quickly.
Alvin fell silent after hearing this. To be honest, if he had been wanted by the World Government since the age of eight, he was not sure he could have endured it the way Robin had.
"Alvin, actually, you did not have to save me. When I saved you, I…"
Before Robin could finish her sentence, Alvin interrupted her.
"You already saved me once, so do not say something so discouraging. Besides, it was just a small effort for me."
Robin froze for a moment. A warm feeling rose in her chest once again.
It seemed that from yesterday until now, her heart had been warmed twice by this young man who was five years younger than her. It made her feel that Alvin might be someone she could trust.
"Oh, right."
"You said you came to Sagamia for Zelas?" Robin suddenly remembered and looked at him with confusion.
"That is right. He has a bounty of 23 million Berries. I came to see if I had a chance to claim it. You know I am a sniper," Alvin replied immediately.
Hearing this, Robin's guard instantly went up.
After all, her own bounty was 79 million Berries, far higher than Zelas'. If Alvin was motivated purely by bounty money…
Sensing the subtle shift in her expression, Alvin reacted at once.
He quickly explained, "Do not misunderstand. I am not a pure bounty hunter, and I would never attack my savior. Besides, if I truly wanted your bounty, I would not have risked so much to rescue you."
Robin studied him carefully with deep, searching eyes. After a long moment, she chose to believe him for now. Even so, she still maintained a trace of caution.
Alvin could clearly feel it.
He did not blame her. If he were in her position, he would likely behave the same way. In truth, if the situation earlier had not been urgent, Robin might never have agreed to leave with him.
After a brief silence, Robin spoke again.
"Alvin, thank you for saving me. But what I want to say is that anyone associated with me tends to be unfortunate. The World Government may have already taken notice of you."
"It does not matter," Alvin said with a relaxed expression. "My goal is simple. I want to become stronger, marry several wives, and live a carefree life. If I continue to grow stronger, I will inevitably clash with the World Government one day. It is only a matter of time."
In truth, someone like Alvin would have been well suited to join the Marines.
By joining the Marines, he could hunt pirates openly and might even gain access to Impel Down, which was practically overflowing with bounty targets.
But he had no intention of becoming anyone's subordinate.
He already possessed a system. There was no way he would willingly serve beneath those Celestial Dragons. He refused to make such a humiliating choice.
More importantly, two years after the Marineford War, an Admiral would be worth 3 billion Berries, and a Fleet Admiral would be worth 5 billion Berries.
He would be lying if he said he was not tempted.
"Oh ho ho~"
"You little rascal. You are not that old, yet you are already full of big ambitions. Tell me, how many wives do you plan to marry?" Robin asked with a soft laugh.
"I have not decided yet. I will think about that after I become one of the strongest in the world." As he spoke, he glanced once more in the direction of Sagamia.
"Alright."
"Then big sister wishes you success in becoming the strongest one day. I should leave now. Thank you again for saving me." After speaking, Robin stood up and prepared to depart.
"Huh?"
"You are leaving already? Those gangs must still be searching for you. The World Government's agents might also be nearby," Alvin said in surprise.
"Do not worry. I have survived like this for years. You should be more concerned about yourself. If they capture you, I will not be coming back to rescue you," Robin said lightly before walking away with steady steps.
Alvin opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but no words came out. He could only watch her figure gradually disappear from sight.
"Sigh…"
"In the end, it is still because I am not strong enough. If I were powerful enough, I would take a stroll through Mary Geoise," Alvin muttered as he stood up.
With that thought, he could no longer remain idle. Zelas' 23 million Berry bounty was something he absolutely intended to claim.
Without hesitation, he rushed back toward Sagamia.
----
Sagamia.
The World Government's Cipher Pol agents had already arrived, only to discover that Nico Robin had been rescued.
Captain Ginil slammed his foot against the ground in anger.
This had been their closest opportunity to capture Nico Robin. They had not expected those incompetent gangs to ruin everything and still allow her to escape.
"You are saying Nico Robin was rescued by a man using a small, unusual boat?" Ginil asked Zelas.
"That is correct. My subordinates witnessed it personally. That boat was astonishingly fast. Based on our estimates, even a Marine warship could not match its speed," Zelas replied with a serious expression.
Ginil turned to the agent responsible for monitoring Alvin.
The agent nodded.
"It now appears that this man has a close relationship with Nico Robin. He is also a Paramecia type ability user with spatial movement capabilities," Ginil said as his brows tightened.
"Then…"
"Captain, what are your orders?" a CP agent asked.
"Contact headquarters immediately. Inform them to instruct intelligence personnel on the surrounding islands to remain vigilant. Nico Robin is likely to land on one of the nearby islands," Ginil said in a low, steady voice.
"Yes!"
"Captain!" the agent responded firmly before taking out a Den Den Mushi to contact the World Government.
Ginil then turned his gaze toward Zelas.
"Mayor Zelas, continue searching for any trace of them here. They may return, especially that man. If you encounter him, eliminate him at once. Do not give him another opportunity to escape."
"Understood, understood," Zelas replied quickly. He then looked toward Isa. "Isa, make the necessary arrangements immediately."
"Yes, Mayor," Isa answered, maintaining her proud posture before leaving to carry out the orders.
