Chapter 18 - The Unbreakable Sword Of Hoen

Daichi stepped forward, his hand already reaching for a set of Pokéballs, his face full of determination. "I'm not letting you take them all alone, Drake. Let's finish this."

But Drake's heavy hand clamped down on Daichi's shoulder, weight that stopped him in his tracks. "No," Drake growled, his eyes never leaving the eight hunters who were already trembling. "Hold your ground and protect the injured. I haven't been able to swing my sword properly because I was worried about those kids behind us getting caught from the backlash."

Daichi froze, his eyes widening in disbelief. "You mean... you've dismantled nearly a 40 Ace trainers and their Pokémon and held off eight Gym Leader class hunters... and you're telling me you were holding back?"

"I was being careful," Drake replied, a shark like grin spreading across his weathered face. "Now, stop worrying about me and be the shield."

Daichi took a breath, reeling from the realization of the gap between them , though both of them were elites in name their gap was much larger . 'He must be a champion rank trainer , why is he still an elite 4 ?' Daichi thought. "Fine. If you're going to be the sword, I'll be the shield."

Daichi stepped back toward the wounded, his movements fluid and practiced. He reached for a specialized belt of Pokéballs ,his third team, a core designed for the grueling reality of war , it was for battle Suppression and Support.

In a flash of red light, six Pokémon materialized around the injured Elites.

Blissey and Audino immediately moved to the center, their hands glowing with Heal Pulse and Wish, knitting together the wounds of the fallen trainers and their Pokémon.

Indeedee stood vigilant, its eyes glowing as it established a Psychic Terrain to prevent any "sneak attacks" from the Guild, while shimmering Light Screens and Reflects began to encase the defensive perimeter.

Staraptor took to the sky, its Intimidate presence heavy while its, wings kicked up a Defog to clear the lingering toxic haze. It used feather dance immediately to sap the strength of any pokemon daring to look at the injured.

Snorlax and Ursaluna, the heavy walls thumped into position at the front of the line, their massive frames acting as literal mountains of meat and muscle that no Guild member could hope to bypass.

The wounded Elite trainers relaxed as the soothing energy of the Double Wish support washed over them, their panicked breathing finally slowing.

Drake glanced over his shoulder, watching the efficiency with which Daichi had transformed a chaotic retreat into a medical fortress. A rare, genuine smirk tugged at the corner of the old Dragon Master's mouth.

"Varying cores for every situation... poison, sand, and now a full-service field hospital," Drake muttered to himself. "You sure do have some tricks up your sleeves don't ya , Daichi."

Drake turned back to the forty eight hunters, his cloak billowing in the wind created by his own rising power. The safety of the injured was guaranteed. The shield was set.

"Now," Drake calmly said as he stared at the hunters, the air around him beginning to ignite with draconic pressure. "Let's show them why the League doesn't need an army when they have me."

Drake's gaze swept over the forty eight remaining hunters with a look of pure and unadulterated disdain. To him they were not opponents but rather dust that needed to be cleared. He raised his left hand and the Key Stone embedded in his glove caught the faint light of the plateau before erupting into blinding brilliance.

The light of Mega Evolution consumed the dragon and as it faded and the sky seemed to groan under the presence of Mega Salamence. Its wings had fused into a singular blood red crescent that shimmered with the energy of Aerilate. Without a verbal command the dragon became a blur of red light. It tore through the atmosphere creating a continuous sonic boom that shattered the ground beneath it. It moved through the crowd of enemy Pokemon like a scythe through dry grass as its wings sliced through armored carapaces and heavy hides without losing a fraction of its momentum. The Guild's carefully planned formation was completely disintegrated.

Seeing the path carved by the Mega both Haxorus and Dragonite lunged into the fray. Haxorus was a whirlwind of violence with its axe jaws glowing with draconic energy as it hammered into the Guild's front line and caused absolute havoc. Beside it Dragonite acted as a l wrecking ball by shrugging off counter attacks and throwing its massive weight into the clusters of Ace trainers to scatter them like feathers in the wind.

From Drake's side the remaining dragons acted as the tactical artillery. Altaria and Kingdra remained positioned near the commander to provide devastating long attacks. High pressure streams of Muddy Water , Scald and Hydro Pump paired with searing beams Dragon Breath and Dragon Pulse tore across the battlefield and were sniped into the chaos with surgical precision to delete any enemy that tried to regroup or mount a defense.

To ensure the hunters could never find their footing Noivern circled above the carnage. Every time a Guild leader tried to shout an order or signal a retreat Noivern unleashed a Boomburst. The sheer volume of the sound waves disrupted every command and left the hunters' Pokemon dazed and disoriented and unable to hear their trainers over the ringing in their ears.

In the center of this storm of choas Drake stood motionless. He was the eye of the hurricane watching as his team dismantled the largest ambush the Guild had ever assembled.

While Drake unleashed his fury on the front lines Daichi remained anchored to the ground as the ultimate guardian. He watched the battlefield and commanded his Pokemon to protect the injured trainers at all costs. The chaos of Drake's assault meant that several desperate hunters tried to slip through the gaps to launch sneak attacks but they found no openings in Daichi's defense.

Any ground based Pokemon that tried to charge the medical zone was met with the absolute power of Ursaluna and Snorlax. Ursaluna stood and used its massive claws to flatten any enemy that dared to get close while Snorlax used its massive bulk to block incoming projectiles. Together they functioned as a pair of heavy indestructible walls that made the perimeter around the wounded trainers completely untouchable.

High above the defensive circle Staraptor kept its eyes vigilant and scanned the smoke for any aerial threats. Whenever a flying pokemon tried to dive toward the medical team Staraptor intercepted them with blinding speed and took down every aerial attack before it could reach the ground.

While the fighters held the line the rest of the team. Blissey and Audino poured their energy into the fallen Elite trainers and their battered Pokemon while Indeedee maintained the shimmering screens that dampened the shockwaves of the nearby battle. Because Daichi had the situation fully under control, Drake was free to exert his maximum power without ever having to look back.

The high command of the Hunter Guild realized that their army was being erased and decided to launch a final desperate pincer attack.

These eight gym leader level hunters released their remaining thirty Pokemon in a coordinated strike to surround Drake and his team. On paper it was a five versus one advantage for the Guild yet Drake continued to win with a landslide .

Mega Salamence and the other dragons moved with such savagery that the thirty enemy Pokemon were decimated within minutes as Drake proved that numbers meant nothing against true strength.

The eight leaders saw their elite teams crumbling and finally felt fear as they tried to signal a full retreat to escape into the mountain passes. Their path was suddenly cut off as the League reinforcements finally arrived on the scene. Sidney and Glacia stepped forward at the head of a massive force.

They explained that they had been delayed because they faced their own coordinated ambush on the way to the facility.

The ambush had clearly failed because roughly 300 League trainers consisting of ace and elite level ranks arrived and immediately encircled the entire perimeter.

The Guild was now completely trapped with nowhere left to run. Drake saw his colleagues arrive and felt a sense of satisfaction as he gave his dragons the signal to end the struggle.

He grinned and finished off the few remaining enemies who were still trying to fight back while Mega Salamence delivered a final crushing blow that leveled the last of the hunters resistance.

The rest of the hour was spent capturing the remainders of the Guild force as the League trainers moved in to secure the 48 hunters and the unconscious Pokemon. With Sidney and Glacia taking over the processing of the prisoners Drake finally recalled his team and walked back toward Daichi and the recovered wounded. The Sword of Hoenn had done his work and the mountain was finally silent.

As the dust settled over the mountain the League officials began the grim task of totaling the damage and securing the facility. The final report was a testament to the miracle Drake and Daichi had performed under impossible pressure. Despite the overwhelming numbers and the brutality of the ambush there were zero casualties among the League forces. Several of the fifteen Elite trainers remained in serious condition but the rapid response of Daichi and his support team saved their lives. The efforts of Blissey ,Audino and Indeedee had stabilized the dying and the wounded long before the medical choppers could even land on the plateau.

On the side of the Hunter Guild the defeat was .... Immense to say the least .Beyond the original 80 trainers who led the ambush nearly 520 additional members were flushed out from the lower levels of the facility and captured as the League reinforcements swarmed the area. Every escape tunnel was plugged and every hidden room was cleared until the entire mountain was under League control. The high command hunters who had once thought they could topple an Elite Four member were led away in heavy restraints their careers and their organization completely dismantled.

Drake stood at the edge of the cliff as the sun began to set over the horizon while Sidney and Glacia organized the transport of the prisoners. The message had been sent loud and clear across the entire region. The Hoenn League was a wall of iron that would not break for any criminal organization. Drake had reminded the underworld that some forces of nature simply cannot be ambushed.

Daichi joined him at the ledge while his support team finally powered down after hours of exhaustion. They had protected the future of the League and shattered the Guild in a single day. The data was safe and the enemy was broken and the peace of Hoenn remained intact.

* Im a windowless room buried deep underground*

A cloaked man stood in the shadows of the doorway before stepping forward to bow low toward a figure seated in a high backed leather chair. The dim lighting obscured the features of the man in the chair but the sharp lines of a dark formal suit and a crisp white undershirt are visible. He sat with stillness that was more threatening than any weapon.

The cloaked man kept his head down as he delivered his report. " The Guild branch in Hoenn has fallen and that the mountain facility is now completely under League control, there is no longer any major criminal group in charge of the Hoenn underground except for Team Magma and Team Aqua. However, these two groups do not seem interested in true crime or traditional territorial control for some reason instead they are obsessed with a search for something specific."

The mysterious man in the chair finally spoke .His voice is deep and incredibly charismatic with a resonance that filled the room. " The obsession of Magma and Aqua is a fortunate distraction. With the Guild gone and the other teams distracted by their myths it is the perfect time for our group to slowly take control of the underground part of Hoenn."

The conversation turned darker as the man in the chair asked for an update on the trainers they had received from the hunters before the base fell. The cloaked man hesitates before reporting ," The experiment was a total failure, while the procedures were followed the subjects lost all signs of life during the transition."

The man in the suit tapped a single finger on the desk. He did not seem angry but rather inconvenienced by the loss of resources. " Dispose of the failures and begin preparations for the next phase of infiltration. Hoen's underground scene will belong to me soon and the League will never even see it coming."

The cloaked man bowed and walked out of the door before breathing a sign of relief, however there was deep fanaticism in his eyes.

The mysterious man sat alone , his plan had worked the ,hunter guild lost all its presence in Hoen , with only a few small branches remaining .However, the experiment failing left a sour taste. He had to find another way to get subjects now.
