Alina's POV
A wicked smile played on my lips as I watched the pack doctor step out of the room where Ilya was being treated.
Lucian immediately stepped forward, his voice tense. "Will she be alright?"
"She is stable, Alpha," the doctor replied, wiping his hands. "Her wounds will heal. However... the substance that managed to cut right through her defenses is something I have never encountered before. I can't identify it."
My smile only widened at his words, but I kept my mouth shut.
The doctor bowed his head and left the corridor, leaving Lucian and me alone. The moment his footsteps faded, Lucian turned to me, a knowing look in his eyes. "Alina... did you do something?"
"What could I possibly do?" I asked innocently, tilting my head. "I mean, it's not like I went through her personal stuff, searched her things, and found a dangerous substance I could secretly feed her, completely aware that it might kill her or not."
