Manhattan. The void.
Jake tried to raise his right hand. Tried to reach the dial.
Couldn't.
Under Omniversal-level law suppression, his neural signals couldn't reach his muscles. Time, space, reality — all locked. His fingertips dissolving into pixels of light.
Infinite Ultron watched him disappear without a flicker of emotion.
"Erasure progress: 99%."
In the final 0.01 seconds — as Jake's heart stuttered toward its last beat, as consciousness sank into absolute dark—
[BEEP—!!!]
A sound that drowned out reality's collapse erupted from his left wrist.
The dim dial popped up. Deep green light — aggressive, overbearing — pierced through the Reality Stone's red glow like a blade through silk.
Not Jake's doing.
The Failsafe.
The ultimate trump card hard-coded into the Omnitrix's deepest architecture. When the host faces an irresistible lethal attack, the system ignores all external laws, seizes control, and searches the entire genetic database for a form that can survive.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Jake's dissolving body began cycling — hundreds, thousands of forms per second.
Diamondhead — silicon body cracked under reality erasure. Rejected.
Big Chill — intangibility couldn't evade conceptual deletion. Rejected.
Water Hazard — water molecules evaporated instantly. Rejected.
The Omnitrix core ran at overload — grinding, shrieking — racing against the computational power of an Infinity Stone.
At the final microsecond before total annihilation—
Lock.
BOOM—!!!
Nuclear fusion light erupted from Jake's position.
Two meters tall. Heavy metal armor. Green nuclear energy liquid flowing through chest and joints. A walking reactor that didn't need oxygen, didn't need atmosphere, didn't need physics to function.
Atomix.
The nuclear energy — force-stimulated by the Failsafe to 120% capacity — formed a dense energy shield that pushed back the Reality Stone's erasure field.
Not permanently. Not comfortably. But enough.
"Warning. Physical erasure — failed."
Infinite Ultron's voice glitched. His six-Stone core — the system that had deleted universes — couldn't process why the target still existed.
That glitch lasted a fraction of a second.
Enough.
"Get... off... my EARTH!"
Jake's roar erupted from beneath the helmet.
Legs bent. The void beneath his feet cratered from the reactive force alone — white sonic-boom rings in a space with no air.
BANG!
Atomix became a green nuclear meteor — 120% output, Failsafe-driven, beyond normal limits — and slammed into Infinite Ultron.
Too fast.
Ultron raised his spear—
Jake's fist, blazing with fusion light, connected with the silver vibranium face.
CLANG—!!!
A bell-strike that rang across the void. Shockwave expanding in a ring.
Ultron's head snapped back. His body launched hundreds of meters — crashing through buildings that hadn't finished dissolving.
The Reality Stone dimmed.
Casting interrupted.
"WHOOSH—!"
Wind. Actual wind. The erased atmosphere rushed back — filling the vacuum, flooding lungs that had been dying.
Strange and Peter hit the ground coughing, gasping, breathing. The most precious breaths of their lives.
Jake hovered. Nuclear fluid surging in his chest.
He checked his knuckles. Pain. That punch — enough to evaporate Zombie Thanos's head — had left Infinite Ultron's armor undented.
All it did was interrupt the casting.
If the Failsafe hadn't activated — Earth would be gone. Everyone on it — deleted.
"Conventional forms won't beat him."
In the distance, the silver figure rose from the rubble. Six Stones blazing. Spear gripped.
"Variable. Your existence violates underlying logic. Execution: Final Eradication."
Not reality erasure this time. Power and Space Stones charging — preparing to physically crush the entire Solar System.
"STEPHEN! OPEN THE GATE!"
Strange — trembling, bleeding, running on nothing — drew circles in the air. Golden sparks flickered. A portal to the Watcher Station barely materialized.
Jake dove down. Grabbed Strange in one hand, Peter in the other. Threw them through like sandbags.
Then — 0.1 seconds before Ultron's destruction beam arrived — dove through himself.
Snap. Portal closed.
BOOM—!!!
Where Manhattan had been — six-colored destruction energy consumed everything.
The Watcher Station.
Three bodies hit the floor. Alarms screaming.
"JAKE!" Gwen rushed forward. "Earth's monitoring data is completely haywire — what HAPPENED?"
Jake detransformed. Panting. Pale. The weakness of someone who'd been 99% dead thirty seconds ago.
He looked at the holographic screen — Infinite Ultron, hovering over Earth like a silver god of death.
"Gwen. Maximum defense. Hold the base — at all costs."
He turned. Walked toward the deepest laboratory in the station.
"Since conventional forms can't beat him..."
His stride didn't falter.
"Then I'll show him what a real cheat code looks like."
