The room fell silent after the words "Assist me with my bath" dropped. Hazel glanced around, wanting to look anywhere else but at Rhett's ass as it bounced perfectly before him, but then how could his eyes stray away from what should have been his if not for the boundaries, the rules, and traditions before them? Hazel's steps weren't as fast as usual. He hesitated. He waited, hoping the prince would change his mind and save them from the torture, but no orders came.
Rather, the echoes of running water filtered behind the bathroom doors; the silent steps of Prince Rhett came through, and the little splash his body made as he fully dipped into the water. Hazel noticed it all. He had always noticed, but today his chest carried a knot he couldn't undo. His hands trembled by his side, his gaze peered into the floor, and his breath came heavy, like one running the race of life.
