Prince Marcus has always been the kid the elders looked up to. He was not only like the king but was also ready and willing to keep the customs of the lands and old traditions. The sun was at its peak when Alvin walked into a noble household... or supposed-to-be noble household.
On the household registry, a domain carefully handled by Prince Marcus, everything was outlined: number of children, annual income, flocks, and slaves. It was all in there, but now, staring at the files in his hand and at what his eyes were staring at, it felt like a sick joke. This was the oldest method in the book, something so outdated they would never have anticipated someone still making use of it, but here he was.
