Chapter 19 - Chapter 34-35

Chapter 34 – Between Cinema and the Geek World

July 2015 – The Return to Hell in The Revenant

The sweltering California heat seemed like a distant dream to Jacob Stewart as he moved through the intense cold of Canada. Filming for The Revenant was in its final stretch, and everything indicated that August would mark the end of production.

Jacob was exhausted. The months spent in the ice, filming brutal survival scenes, had been some of the most difficult moments of his career. He threw himself completely into the role, suffering real pain, facing the hostile environment, and letting his body adapt to the extreme conditions.

He remembered a recent conversation with director Alejandro González Iñárritu, who was watching one of the last scenes filmed.

— Jacob… You're not just playing Hugh Glass. You've become him.

Jacob, covered in mud and with stage blood on his face, took a deep breath and replied:

— Then I hope he survives this. Because I'm at my limit.

Alejandro laughed, satisfied.

"We all are, my friend. But believe me… What we're doing here will be remembered."

Jacob knew that The Revenant could be the film that would change his career forever. But, for now, he needed a break from the snow, the cold, and the exhaustion.

Fortunately, he had a great reason to leave the set for a few days.

In the second week of July, the first official trailer for 007: Spectre was released worldwide.

Jacob was at the hotel where The Revenant team was staying when his phone exploded with notifications.

He opened Twitter and saw that his name was among the trending topics.

He clicked on the video posted by the official James Bond franchise profile and watched the trailer.

The music started, and the iconic voice of Christoph Waltz, the film's villain, echoed on the screen.

The scene quickly shifted to Daniel Craig as Bond, facing danger with his usual coolness.

But then, the moment no one expected happened.

Jacob Stewart appeared on screen.

His character, an elite assassin hired by SPECTRE, emerged wearing a black suit and holding a silenced pistol, aiming directly at Bond.

He smirked and said:

"You must be used to death by now, Mr. Bond. But you've never met anyone like me before."

The trailer cut to a brutal fight sequence between Bond and Jacob, throwing themselves against walls, destroying furniture, and ending with Jacob being thrown off the moving train.

The internet exploded.

"WHO IS THIS GUY? HE'S AMAZING!"

"Jacob Stewart might be the best supporting villain in the 007 franchise ever!"

"Why wasn't this guy cast as the NEXT JAMES BOND?!"

Richard Calloway, his agent, called him immediately.

"Jacob, did you see that?! You're stealing the show in the 007 trailer!"

Jacob laughed.

"I guess my character might have a quick death, but at least he'll be remembered."

"Remembered? Man, you're about to be revered."

Jacob knew that 007: Spectre would be a success. But he didn't have much time to celebrate.

He had another stop on the way.

Even at the height of his fame, Jacob was still a fan of comics, superheroes, and geek culture.

So, when the opportunity arose to attend San Diego Comic-Con, he didn't think twice.

He wanted to go as a fan, without the spotlight, without interview panels, just to enjoy the event like any other nerd passionate about the comic book universe.

But, of course, that wouldn't be so easy. Wearing a black cap and sunglasses, he walked through the crowded corridors of the event, admiring the cosplays, collectibles, and interactive panels.

But soon, fans began to notice him.

"WAIT… IS THAT JACOB STEWART?!"

"JOHN WICK IS AT COMIC-CON!"

"HE'S ONE OF US!!!"

Soon, a small crowd began to follow him, asking for autographs, taking photos, and asking which were his favorite superheroes.

He laughed and replied:

"Batman will always be the best, but I admit I have a soft spot for Wolverine."

He spent most of the event having fun like a true fan, buying action figures and even posing with John Wick cosplayers.

But, in the midst of that chaos, he reunited with someone special.

Scarlett Johansson.

She was at a Marvel panel promoting Avengers: Age of Ultron, but when she saw Jacob at the event, she went over to him immediately.

"Look who decided to show up in nerd territory."

Jacob smiled.

"You thought I'd stay out of it? This event is paradise."

She laughed and looked around.

"Well, I guess your attempt at being discreet failed. You already have a legion following you."

Jacob looked at the fans around him and shrugged.

"I guess it's impossible to escape this now."

Scarlett gave a mischievous smile.

"Well… I know a more secluded place if you want a break from the harassment."

Jacob raised an eyebrow.

"I'd love to."

The two left the main area of Comic-Con and went to a luxurious hotel near the event.

And there, they reunited in a much more intense way than the last time.

After an unforgettable weekend at Comic-Con, Jacob returned to Canada.

Filming for The Revenant was in its final stretch, and Alejandro Iñárritu wanted to ensure that the last scenes were the most impactful in the film.

Jacob threw himself back into the role, knowing that every moment was worth it.

His phone vibrated with messages from Hollywood, directors wanted him in new projects, fans commented on the 007 trailer, but he knew that his priority now was to finish this epic journey.

Because, after that…

The world would finally see what he was truly capable of.

Chapter 35 – The End of a Brutal Journey

August 2015 – The Last Day of Filming for The Revenant

The snow covered the ground like an endless white blanket as Jacob Stewart prepared to film his last scene as Hugh Glass.

It had been months of brutal filming, where the biting cold, physical exhaustion, and emotional intensity of the film pushed everyone to their limits.

But now, in a remote corner of Canada, the cameras were positioned for the final take.

Director Alejandro González Iñárritu, wearing a heavy coat and with his eyes as sharp as ever, approached Jacob.

— Jacob… This will be the last scene. Are you ready?

Jacob nodded, pulling his fur coat, soiled with mud and stage blood, over his shoulders.

— I've been ready for months.

Alejandro smiled and placed his hand on his shoulder.

— You survived all of this. Now, let's end this journey in the grandest way possible.

Jacob took a deep breath and got into character one last time.

The camera was positioned intimately, capturing every detail of Jacob's dirty and scarred face.

The scene was silent. Only the sound of the wind cutting through the icy landscape in the background.

Hugh Glass, wounded and exhausted, looked at the horizon, his gaze reflecting all the pain, fury, and resilience he had carried since the beginning of the journey.

The snow fell softly on him as he took one last heavy breath.

And then…

CUT!

The silence was broken by the crew's applause.

The filming of The Revenant was officially finished.

Jacob stood still for a moment, absorbing everything.

He had finished the most intense filming of his life.

Alejandro approached, a tired but satisfied smile.

— You didn't just play Hugh Glass… You lived him. That was extraordinary, Jacob.

Jacob took a deep breath, feeling the weight of that journey finally lift from his shoulders.

— This… was the hardest thing I've ever done. But it was worth every second.

The other cast and crew members gathered around, clapping and congratulating Jacob.

Tom Hardy, who played the antagonist John Fitzgerald, smiled and gave Jacob a light punch on the arm.

— Man… You were a monster in this movie. If this doesn't get you an Oscar, I don't know what will.

Jacob laughed.

— If I at least survive the cold, I'm happy.

Everyone laughed, celebrating the end of filming with bottles of whiskey being opened in the snow.

That night, Jacob lay in his hotel bed, staring at the ceiling.

The film was finally finished, but the real work was just beginning.

Now, The Revenant would enter the editing and post-production phase, where each scene would be refined to maximize the film's impact.

The studio already had a well-defined strategy:

September and October → Final editing and visual effects.

November → First screenings for selected producers and critics.

December → Limited release for critics and festivals.

January 2016 → Official theatrical release.

The goal?

To get the film nominated for an Oscar.

Jacob picked up his phone and saw a message from Richard Calloway, his agent.

Richard: Congratulations, man! You finished one of the most anticipated films of the year. Now, get ready, because awards season is going to be intense. Rest while you can.

Jacob smiled and replied:

Jacob: I'll try. But I think I'm ready for the next challenge.

He placed his phone on the bedside table and closed his eyes.

This journey had been difficult, exhausting, and at times unbearable.

But he knew it would be worth every second.

Now, all that remained was to wait.

Because, in a few months…

The whole world would see what he was truly capable of.
