Chapter 6 - Chapter 8-9

Chapter 8 – An Unforgettable Night on Jimmy Fallon

February 4, 2014 – A Night to Remember

Jacob Stewart was backstage at the NBC studio, his heart pounding in his chest. He had never been on a talk show before, and now he was about to be interviewed by none other than Jimmy Fallon, the charismatic host whose show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, had recently premiered and was already captivating audiences.

What made him even more nervous was the fact that this was his first major national television interview since John Wick began to attract attention. His agent, Richard Calloway, had said that this would be a great opportunity for him to further captivate the public.

Now, sitting in the dressing room, Jacob looked at himself in the mirror. He was wearing a well-fitting dark suit, a black shirt underneath, and leather boots. His hair, now trimmed, still maintained a length that perfectly matched the image of the character he had played.

The dressing room door opened, and a production assistant entered with an earpiece.

— Jacob, we're ready for you.

Jacob took a deep breath, stood up, and followed the assistant down the studio corridors.

He could hear the noise of the audience in the background, the applause, the laughter. The show was already on the air, and Jimmy Fallon was entertaining the audience as always.

When they reached the stage entrance, Jacob saw Jimmy himself talking to the audience.

— Our next guest has one of the most incredible stories I've ever seen in Hollywood. He's the star of John Wick, one of the most anticipated action films of the year. But the most impressive thing is that less than a year ago, he was living on the streets of Los Angeles! This is an unbelievable story of overcoming adversity, and I'm very excited to talk to him. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Jacob Stewart!

The audience erupted in applause. Jacob took a deep breath and walked onto the stage, waving to the audience and smiling, trying to hide his nervousness. Jimmy Fallon stood up and greeted him with a quick hug and a handshake.

"Hey man, welcome!" Jimmy said, smiling.

"Thanks, Jimmy. It's an honor to be here."

Jacob sat down in the armchair next to Jimmy's desk, who was still waiting for the audience's applause to die down.

"Wow!" Jimmy exclaimed, looking at the warm reaction from the audience. "They love you!"

Jacob laughed, adjusting himself in his chair.

"This is surreal."

"Seriously, Jacob," Jimmy continued, crossing his arms. "Your story is incredible. I have to ask... How did all this happen?"

Jacob took a deep breath, already expecting this question. He looked at the host and then at the audience before beginning.

"Well, to be honest, it still feels like a dream. A year ago, I was literally sleeping on the streets, not knowing what I would do the next day. And now... I'm here, with a movie about to premiere and talking to Jimmy Fallon."

The audience applauded again, and Jimmy smiled.

"That's crazy! Can you tell us how it all started?"

Jacob nodded.

"Of course. My parents passed away when I was still young, and that complicated my life a lot. I had to drop out of school and work to survive, but things didn't work out, and eventually, I ended up living on the street. It was a very difficult time."

The audience fell silent, paying attention to every word.

"And that's how you met Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick?"

Jacob laughed and nodded.

"Yes. One day, purely by coincidence, I ended up bumping into him on the street. He was extremely generous and bought me lunch. We started talking, and he mentioned that he was looking for actors for a movie he was going to direct. He asked me if I wanted to try out for an audition." Jimmy's eyes widened.

— Wait, wait… He saw you on the street and thought you'd make a good professional assassin?

The audience burst into laughter, and Jacob laughed too.

— Yeah, I guess I looked pretty… intense that day.

Jimmy laughed and shook his head.

— Man, that's unbelievable! But then you went to the audition… and you got the lead role!

Jacob nodded.

— Yes. I had nothing to lose, so I gave it my all in that audition. And somehow, it worked.

The audience applauded again, and Jimmy slapped the table.

— That's amazing! Seriously, that's the best Hollywood story I've ever heard!

— Now, let's talk about John Wick, because I watched the trailer and, my God, that movie looks incredible!

Jacob smiled.

— Man, it was intense work.

Jimmy picked up a tablet and started showing some behind-the-scenes images of Jacob's training.

— You did all the combat, weapons, and martial arts training, right?

— Yes. Chad wanted me to do all my action scenes without a stunt double, so I spent months training with specialists.

Jimmy pointed to one of the images.

— Here you are training with weapons… Is that real?

Jacob looked at the image...

— Yes. I went through tactical training with rifles, pistols, and even shotguns. They taught me how to handle real weapons so that the scenes would look authentic.

The audience murmured a "wow," impressed.

— And the fight scenes? — Jimmy asked.

— I trained in jiu-jitsu, judo, and Krav Maga. In the film, John Wick uses a very aggressive and efficient fighting style, so I needed to learn those techniques for real.

Jimmy laughed and shook his head.

— So, basically, you went from homeless person to trained assassin.

The audience burst into laughter again, and Jacob laughed along.

— Basically, yes.

Jimmy then became serious for a moment and looked at Jacob.

— Man, your story is truly inspiring. I know that many people watching right now may be going through difficulties. What would you say to them?

Jacob took a deep breath before answering.

— I would say never give up. I know it sounds cliché, but it's true. When I was at the worst point in my life, I never imagined that something like this could happen to me. But life has strange ways of surprising us.

The audience applauded warmly, and Jimmy nodded.

— That's incredible, Jacob.

He then smiled.

— Now, before we finish… Can you teach us a fight move from the movie?

The audience cheered, and Jacob laughed.

— Of course!

Jimmy stood up, and Jacob demonstrated a basic judo move, teaching the presenter how to perform a throw.

When Jimmy tried, he ended up falling awkwardly, drawing laughter from the audience.

He got up, laughing.

— Okay, I would never be John Wick!

Jacob laughed and gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder.

— But it was worth a try.

Jimmy returned to his desk, still laughing.

— Ladies and gentlemen, this is Jacob Stewart! Stay tuned for John Wick, premiering in October!

The audience erupted in applause as Jacob waved and smiled.

Leaving the stage, he realized something:

This wasn't just an interview.

It was the beginning of a new life.

Chapter 9 – The World is Enchanted by Jacob Stewart

February 5, 2014 – The Next Day

Jacob Stewart woke up that morning feeling that something was different. He was still in the luxury hotel that Lionsgate had booked for him, but unlike other days, the cell phone that Richard Calloway, his agent, had given him wouldn't stop vibrating.

Messages. Calls. Social media notifications.

He got up, still groggy, and went to the window. The Los Angeles sun was shining brightly, but a knot of anxiety was forming in his stomach. He picked up his phone and saw dozens of new messages.

Richard Calloway: Jacob, call me as soon as you wake up. We need to talk. You won't believe what's happening.

Chad Stahelski: You broke the internet, man. I'm so proud of you.

Adrianne Palicki: Did you see Twitter? You're everywhere!

Jacob frowned and opened the Twitter app.

The first thing he saw was that #JacobStewart was trending worldwide.

His heart raced.

He scrolled through the screen, seeing hundreds of posts about his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The full video of the interview already had over 10 million views on YouTube, and the main clips were being shared everywhere.

But what caught his attention the most were the comments from celebrities.

Jacob opened the first tweet from a name he immediately recognized.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (@TheRock)

Wow, I just saw Jacob Stewart's interview with @jimmyfallon. WHAT A STORY! This guy went from the streets to being an action star? That's so inspiring. Congratulations, brother. I'll be in the front row to watch John Wick!

Jacob's eyes widened. The Rock had talked about him?!

He scrolled a little further and saw another huge name.

Robert Downey Jr. (@RobertDowneyJr)

Jacob Stewart, if you ever decide to enter the superhero universe, let me know. His story is already worthy of a movie.

Jacob laughed, still trying to process it all.

And then he saw a video posted on Instagram by none other than Keanu Reeves, the legendary action star.

In the video, Keanu was sitting on a couch, holding a cup of coffee and looking at the camera.

— So, I just saw Jacob Stewart's interview… and, man, what an incredible story. Hollywood needs more stories like this. All the best to you, Jacob. I hope we get to work together someday.

Jacob felt a lump in his throat.

Keanu Reeves, one of the biggest action stars in history, was acknowledging his work.

He rested his hands on his knees, taking a deep breath.

This wasn't a dream.

He had really become someone.

His phone vibrated again, and Jacob saw that Richard was calling. He answered immediately.

— Richard?

— Jacob! My God, man, did you see what's happening?!

Jacob laughed nervously.

— Yes, I'm seeing it… Is this real?

Richard laughed.

— This is very real. You've become the most talked-about name in Hollywood in a single night. People are in love with your story. Studios are already contacting me, asking about your availability for new projects.

Jacob blinked, surprised.

— Wait… Already? But John Wick hasn't even premiered yet.

— It doesn't matter. Hollywood loves good stories, and yours is one of the best that has come along in recent years. You need to prepare yourself, because the offers are going to start coming in.

Jacob ran a hand over his face, still trying to process it all.

— I… I don't know what to say.

Richard smiled on the other end of the line.

— You don't need to say anything, just enjoy the moment. Oh, and get ready, because the Good Morning America people want to interview you tomorrow.

Jacob's eyes widened.

— What?!

— You heard me. And it's not just them. Ellen DeGeneres also wants you on her show. And there are more invitations coming in.

Jacob was silent for a moment. He knew his life had changed after John Wick, but he didn't imagine it would happen so quickly.

He took a deep breath and smiled.

"Okay. I'm ready."

And, for the first time in a long time, he actually believed it.
