Earth. A planet with a population of roughly 10 billion. It all started in 2058.
As technology advanced, the military might of every nation advanced, too. This meant the birth of weapons humanity was never meant to create—weapons that could wipe countries, some even continents, off the face of the earth.
As a result, a global hierarchy was established with the motto: 'Might makes right'
The weaker countries, most of which came from Africa, had little to no say in the decisions made by the higher ranking countries. Of course, this hierarchy was established by the already existing world powers even though they knew it was unfair because it greatly benefited them in that they could now exploit mineral-rich countries that were weak for natural resources.
Anyways, enough of that stuff for now. Here's were it got tricky.
The rise in the need for raw materials, as you might have already guessed, led to a series of minor wars. Though these wars were minor, they left millions homeless, they left once developing nations and turned them into barren wastelands.
The nuclear weapons used led to degradation beyond repair and there was no hope for the once flourishing earth. Then suddenly, a flurry of asteroids were in course to smash into earth.
This sent every nation into a sta of panic as they began relocating citizens.
The asteroids hit earth and every country that had not evacuated it's citizens suffered great losses that day.
When they crashed into earth, the asteroids let out an enormous surge of energy that gave rise to the only thing that could have saved earth—magic!
This newly found energy, magic, didn't only affect the humans but also very kind of biotic and abiotic life form, from the fish in the sea, to the rocks and trees and the birds of the sky.
This surge in energy led to the shutdown of every electronic device on earth. In as much as humans gained a new and unfathomable resource, they lost something that paved way for every technological advancement they had created —electricity.
Because of this, man kind was dethroned from their throne in the food chain and were replaced by something else entirely —beasts that could utilise their newly found resource. These beast became know as the mana beasts.
Once this new reality sank into the minds of the surviving humans, they turned savage. They lived like cave men, they killed each other, some even became cannibals, but most of all, they lost their humanity.
The drop in the human population wasn't necessarily caused by the mana beasts, it was caused by none other than humans themselves. Not just any humans, those who were able to manipulate mana.
Now that humans were able to wield magic as a weapon, they waged war for centuries and with that, humans began to live like beasts.
Eventually, the prolonged use of magic paved way for the evolution of humans. This came to be when mana was not only able to let one use the elements but it was also able to strengthen others and grant them physical abilities that far surpassed those of ordinary humans.
Then suddenly, an anomaly was born. She was a human who was not only blessed with what seemed to be a boundless pool of mana, she was also blessed with extraordinary physical prowess. She was a force to be reckoned with. After the centuries of meaningless wars and struggles before her birth, she thought it fit to unite humanity once and for all.
And thus, she set out on a journey of unification around this new magic powered earth and began to unite humans of various races, even the ones whose genetic makeup had been altered. Some had pointy ears, others grew shorter and had dense muscules.
These new races became known as the elven and dwarven races, the pointy eared humans being the elves while the short, dense muscled humans being the dwarves.
This woman travelled far and wide, reeling in more and more people from various races. The establishment of a unified human kingdom was in sight.
The People that decided to follow her grew exponentially and it seemed that she had succeed in unifying the human race.
There was peace.
This peace, however, was short-lived. This was because a beast that hailed from the reptilian family attacked the newly founded human Kingdom. It destroyed all that was in its path. It killed everyone and everything that dared to stand in its way.
This beast was none other than a dragon. From it's mouth proceeded flames so hot the flames of hell were to be preferred.
When all hope seemed lost, the anomaly, Lilith by name, faught tooth and nail to slay that overgrown lizard.
In the end, she slew the dragon, albeit, at the cost of her own life.
Humanity lost its strongest weapon yet it gained its greatest legend—
- LILITH THE DRAGON SLAYER -
Lilith was forever remembered as the saviour of man kind as the dragon slayer.
In honour of Lilith's great achievements, a large statue was erected in the centre of the human Kingdom's capital.
A couple years later, a school was erected in her honour and was used to groom humanity's finest warriors, those with aptitudes for magic and those with tremendous physical prowess.
It became known as [LILITH ACADEMY OF MAGES AND KNIGHTS]...!!!
over the course of time, the kingdom's officials sent their children to the Lilith Academy of Mages and Knights.
This gave rise to segregation against students who never came from any distinguished or famous family. This segregation carried on for years and over time, the academy was overrun by nobles, completely doing away with most of the commoners who attended it.
What awaited this academy and Kingdom? Only time will tell...
