Chapter 14 - chapter 14 : the prey became the hunter

Darkness suddenly emerged from nowhere, opening Jack's body. Regenerating his heart, he rose like a dead man.

He slowly approached Joel.

Joel backed away in terror. Blood began to flow from his nose.

Jack looked Joel straight in the eyes.

"Your power is truly terrifying," he said.

He started kicking Joel.

"Your power is very, very powerful. Normally, I am almost invincible against any type of magic or spell."

I need it… I need your eyes.

Then he shouted with a twisted face full of rage,

"YOUR EYES! I NEED THEM!"

Suddenly, he broke Joel's left hand and removed Joel's right eye.

Joel screamed in pain.

Jack held him and broke his left arm as well.

Joel clenched his teeth, but blood still flowed from his mouth. The pain was unbearable.

"Haaar!"

Jack placed a finger on his lips and said quietly,

"Don't shout so much."

Excited, Jack removed the other eye. Joel screamed in agony and rolled on the ground.

Jack observed the eyes carefully.

"Very interesting," he murmured, a cruel smile spreading across his face.

He held Joel's eyes in his hand, examining them as if they were precious treasures.

Joel, blind and injured, lay on the ground, unable to move or react. He could only feel the pain and terror overwhelming him.

Suddenly, the power of the eyes disappeared. They stopped functioning.

"What's this scam?" Jack said.

Meanwhile, Joel thought,

Will I die here like this?

Then a voice whispered inside Joel's head.

"No… open them. Open your eyes."

Joel immediately opened them.

New eyes appeared, completely regenerated. They were brighter than before—more powerful.

His pupils turned toward his target.

Joel looked at Jack.

Suddenly, Jack started coughing blood. He vomited, and his left eye exploded.

He stepped backward.

Inside his mind, he thought,

This really is a monster. I'm supposed to be almost invincible for a minute after each death… I only have five lives left.

Joel stood up. His broken bones rejoined with cracking sounds.

He breathed out slowly.

Joel's eyes stared directly at Jack, as if he were superior to him.

Jack felt terror growing inside him as he realized he was facing an opponent far more powerful than he had imagined.

"No… no… spare me," he murmured, understanding that his fate was sealed.

Suddenly, his second eye exploded.

Joel continued staring at him, as if he could already see the truth—that Jack was already dead and only delaying the inevitable.

"Please… forgive me!" Jack cried.

Then he died again, and his body regenerated once more.

You need to die now, Joel thought.

Then Jack spoke again.

"Maybe there is a solution for your cursed eyes."

Joel replied with a serious expression,

"What is this solution?"

Jack fell to his knees, trembling with fear. His hands were shaking.

"There is a witch who lives far from here. They say she can cure all kinds of curses and diseases."

Joel's eyes gleamed even more.

"Where is she?" he asked.

Jack froze for a moment. Blood flowed from his eyes and nostrils as he spoke.

"No one knows… but you can find her in forbidden places, in a mysterious house."

Joel looked at him silently.

Jack lowered his eyes in fear.

Suddenly, Jack grabbed his head and looked directly at Joel again.

"No… no… no!"

Jack died once more.
