Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Too Strong, Too Quickly…

Chapter 5: Too Strong, Too Quickly…

When Hazel had finally came to, directly after her visions, a lot of things had occurred. A series of things, in fact, that led to a certain point in which she herself made a drastic decision…

[Hazel POV]:

[45 Minutes Prior To Theo's Hospital Visit]:

Shaking herself from the reverie that were her nerves, Hazel did her best to place that last vision to the backburner of her thoughts.

It was a harrowing, horrifying experience, but not something her strong psyche wouldn't be able to handle — And by handle, she meant ignore until she eventually forgot about it.

That and she mentally placed an even stronger shield around her mind, reinforcing her natural mental strength by leagues.

'I may be becoming much too strong, much too fast…,' Hazel thought after taking a deep breath. 'I don't want to end up like those edgy MCs in those novels and fanfictions who become all antisocial and villainous, but I may just be too —.'

A series of clicks and unnatural mechanical whirrs suddenly caused the hairs on Hazel's arms to stand up and her heartbeat to quicken.

She knew the sound. It was a herald to—

The Dread Doctors.

Hazel suddenly felt a chill sprout roots into her nervous system as her body locked in on itself. The temperature in air dropped — both figuratively and literally. Frost crept across the room and the house itself began feeling like the eye of a blizzard. Hazel began feeling vertigo descend over her senses.

When she looked up, she saw the sudden blinking movement of three certain individuals in masks — Only, everything about them felt… unnatural. The very air they blinked into existence to seemed to vibrate with an ungodly amount of vibrational frequency.

As they circled Hazel, Hazel found that a pressure on her psyche had seemingly turned off her abilities. She tried to use her telekinesis but all that came from her was strain.

[An Interesting Subject.]

[A Peculiar Specimen.]

[Material of Unique Worth.]

A trilogy of unnaturally mechanical and freakishly unnatural voices seemed to sound at a frequency that caused goosebumps to rise from her arms. It was scratchy in an unnatural way, simultaneous all at once and completely robotic, provoking — though which phobia Hazel couldn't figure out.

[Subject Condition: Optimal.]

[Specimen Condition: Preferable.]

[Material Condition: Progressive.]

As the three parascientists reached out to Hazel, as if to grab her, Hazel, helpless and unable to focus enough to access her abilities, could only flinch inwardly to herself. She felt powerless and at the mercy of the doctors, helpless and terrified — unable to do anything but let the doctors do whatever it was they were planning to do to her.

A tear of frustration fell from her eyes as she awaited an unwanted touch of leather…

A touch that seemed to be taking forever to get over with…

Furrowing her brows, Hazel opened her eyes, looking at the three para-scientists, but they weren't paying attention to her — no, their attention was on an old man standing at the door of her room — a familiar psychic aura coming off of him in waves so vast they made Hazel feel small in their presence.

"You stay away from my granddaughter, you unnatural heathens!" her grandfather exclaimed loudly and unflinchingly. "She is off limits. Begone and never come here again!"

As if compelled, Hazel watched as the three parascientists seemingly blinked out of existence.

Stunned, Hazel looked at her grandpa — Argus Hewitt, the head of the Hewitt family. She hadn't noticed that she was on her knees. She also hadn't realized she was bawling her eyes out in her grandfather's grasp until she registered the string of tears on her face rubbing up against the soft fabric of his expensive suit.

"There, there, granddaughter," Argus patted her back, offering comfort. "It's ok. They won't ever be able to enter this house again. I promise. I've ensured it."

Getting a grip on her emotions, Hazel got to her feet. "They were —"

"Dread Doctors," Argus finished grimly. "Abhorrent abominations that nature herself abhors. Don't worry. While I still draw breath, they won't ever come near you."

Argus looked at Hazel curiously. He took note of how quickly she managed to get a grip on things. 'Her will is shaken up, but not broken. Against those things, who are much stronger here in this reality than the original one — to be able to compose oneself even after a visit from those three parascientists of such extraordinary power — who didn't restrict their full power of presence — that is willpower no six year old could possibly — should possibly — possess.

'This also means, however —.'

"Power invites power, granddaughter," Argus cautioned, concerned. "And you are undeniably powerful. I've yet to face a six year old with your level of willpower.

"The thing is, however, that this world is filled with monsters that will give even the strongest man nightmares. The strong may thrive in this world, but they aren't the ones you need to worry about. No, those are the ones who rule in the darkness…"

This admission caused a sudden chill to travel the crevice of her spine.

'The ones who rule in the darkness…?' Hazel thought, shivering as she began to realize that this version of Teen Wolf was much, much, much more dangerous than the original.

This admission caused a sudden chill to travel the crevice of her spine. 'The ones who rule in the darkness…?' Hazel thought, shivering as she began to realize that this version of Teen Wolf was much, much, much more dangerous than depicted on television. 'I may be getting too powerful, too fast — And without the experience necessary to defend myself, I would still be lamb to a slaughter — just with fangs.'

Clenching her fists, Hazel already began formulating a plan.

'First things first,' looking at the clock, she realized she needed to meet with Theo soon.

"I think I'm going to go to bed, grampa," Hazel yawned.

After saying good night and tucking Hazel in, then leaving, Hazel waited a minute, feeling her grandfather's presence vanish — likely teleporting away — Hazel grabbed her dark violet jacket, donned its hood, and opening the window, she teleported directly to the hospital, using her telepathy to hide her presence from the minds of everyone there and her telekinesis to avoid the detection of cameras as she made her way to Theo's room…

[Directly After Theo's Visit — Hazel's Room]:

Hazel wound up doing more than just healing Theo of his ailments. With her bestowing herself healing powers and limited telekinesis, it was easy.

For one, she gave him an expedited healing factor — Nothing supernatural, so not instant heal. More like speed healing for humans. For instance, if he broke his arm, it wouldn't take 3 months to completely heal, but 1 and a half.

'It seems insignificant, but it does make a difference,' Hazel thought on her bed as she stared up at the ceiling. 'I also gave him a slightly better natural affinity for athleticism, though it's latent. Still, it will allow him a better life starting kit than in canon. With it, he can gain muscle mass more easily as it is proportionate to his body type. Hopefully, he can have a nice childhood this time.'

'He will probably stay friends with Scott and Stiles, so getting involved with the supernatural is a given. I just hope he makes the best of a given situational gift.'

As Hazel lost herself to her thoughts, she realized her grandfather was right: she was growing too strong, too fast.

'Power invites power, huh?' Hazel considered. 'I need to slow down, let things build up on their own…But, first, how about I make up a new power — One on a cosmic tier level, hmm? I could—-.'

But before she could even complete the thought, she found herself in a different setting altogether:

It was dark, rainy, and the woods around a church were in as poor condition as the church itself — And there, on the steps of the church, was a baby with a note of name.

Willing herself to appear at the baby's sleeping form, Hazel read the name to her curiosity's satisfaction.

"Garrett… Nightshade," then noticing a second baby, hidden beside the first, she read the note of its name, "Violet Nyxvaris."

The baby boy was caucasian, brown-haired and rosy-cheeked, while the girl was chocolate skinned, black-haired and defiantly furrow-browed even in her sleep.

It didn't take a genius to realize who these two babies were — Who these two would grow up to become. The orphans — Deadpool assassins who meet a tragic ending in canon in Season 4, if Hazel's memory serves right.

'It'd be a shame for them to go down without a fight…,' Hazel thought. 'Based on my psionic abilities and its natural timeclock, this scene is 2 years older than I am now?' Hazel sensed, her brow furrowed. 'Should I?'

Something seemed to compel her to do what she was about to do. She wasn't sure why she did it, but she did do it in the end— Leaning down upon the babies, she bestowed bloodline abilities.

When she did, the babies began crying from the pain, and Hazel was sure whoever was in the orphanage had heard from the sound of a light switch and the brightening of light in one of its two-story rooms.

Of course, Hazel's conscious wasn't all there — She saw flashes:

A kingdom of snakes and shadows blessed by the shadow element itself. Witches gathered in a circle performing a ritual of some sort. A king kneeling before a giant, endlessly long serpent-like creature with clawed hands — Blessing said king with the element of shadows and the familiarity of the giant serpents.

She saw a kingdom of witches through the ages — And the kingdom of snakes and shadows though the times — Both with various generations of royalties. Then she saw the the witches bow down to the snakes, promising to rule the shadow lands as two twin powers.

And in its end she saw the birth of two royals — One a chocolate girl and the other a blond boy of fair skin — Forced to grow up in an orphanage due to the deaths of each of their parents.

Then she saw tragedy.

Crimson flames of chaos descend upon this realm of shadows. Serpents being turned to stone and witches being burned alive. The survivors hid even as the royal families fell, their escaped heirs finding route away out of the realm and to Earth.

The cause?

Some kind of crimson, chaotic being of immense power.

What's worse?

The woman, infused and hooded cloak in tatters, Hazel remembered — From when she imbued Theo with the ability to heal faster than most regular humans.

She gasped.

It was his mother — Not the aunt and uncle he lives with now.

No, this is his birth mother — Carrying two children to an orphanage.

The worst part in all of this?

Theo's mother doesn't make it.
