Chapter 8 - The Pulse

Chapter 8: The Pulse

The moon hung high over the cloudy night sky above the woody preserve. As cop cars lined the edge of the preserve, the cops and their hounds spread out in its depths, a hooded figure stood hidden atop a high branch, shrouded by leaves and darkness, watching the cops spread out below her in search.

This figure was dressed in dark colors – black longsleeve top, black pants, black boots. Her trusted animal companion — her barn owl, Little Mick — sat on her shoulders, a silent sentry to what was about to unfold.

'Despite my efforts, the Hale fire did a lot of damage to the Hale pack. Everyone who was supposed to have died, pretty much died, except Talia, who went into a coma, unconsciously passing her alpha spark to her older daughter, Laura, who still ended up killed by Peter that night…,' Madison thought in concentration. "'To this day, Talia Hale remains in a coma. Sean Hale survived the fire, though. As did Cora.'

In the end, canon basically turned out the same outside of Sean living and Cora staying, of course. The Hale House was even repaired ironically, though no one chose to live there without Talia conscious.

'It's like canon is hellbent to occur, regardless of my efforts,' Madison thought with a sigh of frustration. 'I suppose it's a good thing Hazel has befriended Cora and Sean. Allows me to keep tabs on the Hales. Still, sucks that more Hales didn't make it to canon's start.

'On the bright side, my 10th birthday marked 10 years, so the number of powers I can bestow on bloodlines increased, with the ones I can bestow on individuals increasing twice since my 5th birthday. I have 3 Bloodline bestowals now, thanks to the decade being reached, and 14 individual bestowals due to it being 15 years since my reincarnation."

Madison had even managed to create a cosmic power source that granted abilities, one that recognized bloodlines and could only be used by certain lineages — And, even then, only certain bloodlines could use only certain aspects of those abilties. She called it the Chimera Force, which essentially gave those that were originally supposed to be a chimera, chimeric abilities, but on a much higher, much more natural scale.

Of course, the cosmic force required both 3 individual bestowals and 1 Bloodline bestowal to form, naturally seeking out its bloodline representatives by intent alone—But it was worth it.

'Theo is already beginning to show signs of his cosmic coywolf awakening..,' Madison pondered. 'Corey is beginning to show tell-tale signs of his ghost rider ancestry awakening – both the invisibility and the thunder gene. And the other bloodlines I blessed with the Chimera Force are all coming along nicely. Romero's cosmic speed seems to be manifesting as sleepwalking in the dead of night. Diaz's cosmic electricity seems to cause outages some nights around his block. And Stewart's cosmic kanima is causing many of the lizards of her block to find their way inside her home… I should probably help the poor girl gain some semblance of control of that, honestly.

'One day soon, I should get ready to hunt the dread doctors and free any chimeras they're currently working on... Perhaps I'll do it when Peter Hale is finally beaten the first time?'

Madison had no intention to let anyone experiment on her brother—let alone to bring back something as vile as the Beast of Gévaudan.

'No, I intend to take care of that before it becomes an issue...' Madison thought coldly, watching the silhouette of Scott, Stiles and Theo enter the preserve in search of a dead body. She narrowed her eyes at the sight of Theo, intense desire bubbling up inside her like it typically does when it's Madison in control of the body watching the naturalized chimera of death. It was like a heated fireball in the pit of her stomach—one that seemed to light up every cell of her being and alight her bloodstream like static shock. 'Maybe I should introduce myself...? He is my biggest crush...?'

Suddenly, Madison had to invisibilize herself from the minds of everyone nearby, as Theo, probably sensing eyes on him, looked in her direction. His beautifully intense hazel eyes seemed to see her exact location even despite the fact that Madison knew he couldn't even perceive her.

'His senses are sharp... Probably his cosmic coywolf waking up—Or maybe it's the dragon blood coursing through his veins,' Madison thought, watching Theo still staring in her direction with a frown on his face in concentration. 'Now that I think about it, that dimension should be opening in the coming year or two. If all things go according to plan...'

"Hey, Theo, are you coming?" Scott's voice broke off Theo's glance her way, which caused a slight pang of sadness to sprout inside Madison.

"What is it, dude?" Stiles asked, curiously. "Did you see something?"

"I just... thought I saw someone... Nevermind." Theo gave her direction one final glance before hurrying off to catch up to his two friends.

Madison would watch the events of the story play out exactly as it would've even without Theo's addition. Scott would get bitten after losing trail of Stiles, who would get roughed by his dad.

All within expectations.

What she didn't expect was that the moment she blinked from her branch to the ground below her, she'd run right into a now smirking Theo Raeken.

"You... you're Hazel, right?" Theo questioned, curiously looking to the lunar, starry shaped tattoo on her forehead. 'You have her face,' he thought to himself, lost in thought, not knowing Madison could hear his thoughts. 'But that symbol is…not one I remember you ever possessing in the dream… Nor is it Hazel's Sun symbol, despite it occupying the same space. Plus, there's the fact that the Hazel that I know, doesn't remember that dream…'. "You aren't Hazel.. Are you?"

Madison kept watching the boy, silently. While she had the biggest crush on this boy, she wasn't exactly social. That was the reason she created her Hazel aspect — To socialize. She had no idea how to strike up a conversation, nor much of an idea of how to keep one.

It was a torturous curse — Wanting to talk to her crush but unable to get a word from her socially awkward mouth.

"You seemed to have teleported before... Have you do that? Are you related to... her?" Theo seemed to already know her—the girl who saved him all those years ago. He just needed confirmation. "Do you talk?"

Madison kept quiet, silently scowling at herself for not checking her environment before teleporting. Had she, she wouldn't have had to meet the one she fancied pre-maturely.

'Oh well, nothing can be done about it,' Madison thought, eyeing the coyote's jock-ish build for his years of playing middle school football. He was very attractive. 'Might as well make the best of the situation...'

"Yes," Madison answered, surprising Theo who seemed to have brightened at the answer. "I am her... but just not... during the day... Nor most nights..."

This seemed to confuse Theo, who briefly frowned as he only comprehended this, then seemingly to digest the meaning, spoke. "Like a split personality...?"

Madison nodded. "I... am her. I told you many years ago that I am Hazel. My real name is Madison. Hazel is my daytime persona. She has the Sun Mark," Madison gestured to her Lunar, starry mark. "I have the lunar mark. Its… complicated…".

"Whoa..." Theo seemed genuinely surprised by this, his eyes wide and impressed. "That's... so... I'm Theo... You already knew that though, huh? Because you're psychic."

Madison nodded. "I am."

"So… do you ever want to hang out? I know you aren't always…you… I think. But… the times that you are…Do you ever want to spend time. Together. With me?" Theo asked, clearly trying to ask her out.

Madison merely smirked. "As in a date?"

"Only if you're interested," Theo grinned, slyly.

"A date? Maybe when we're older..," Madison smirked at Theo's defeated face. "But to hang…," Madison nearly blushed at the coywolf's reinvigorated hopeful expression. It was the most downright adorable face she could've ever seen, and, considering it came from him — one not known for being adorable but being quite deadly in the original continuity —- Madison had to hold in her gasp. "I'd like that. I'd like that a lot."

The brightening of his features were like an angle's smile to Madison. It was nearly enough to make her fold and just ask him on a date. But she held herself back, even as a look of victory passed over Theo's face.

A howl sounded from deeper in the preserve, and both Madison and Theo looked in its direction, with Madison realizing that it was about time to check up on the others before returning home.

"I've got to go home. Hazel will soon wake up and I can't be here when she does," Madison explained to a nodding Theo. "It was nice seeing you in the woods, though."

"I hope you enjoyed the view," Theo said, hosting an arrogant smirk that did things to Madison's insides. "You were, after all, spying on me."

Madison rolled her eyes, as she began walking back, mentalling visuallizing her next destination: Derek's loft. "I'll see you at school tomorrow, Theodore... Or Hazel will, I guess," Madison smiled.

"Yeah, yeah, of course," Theo gave a smirk, as Madison focused on her room. "I'll see you around, Madison."

With that, Madison left, teleporting to various destinations across and around Beacon Hills — And areas beyond it for some (Like Jordan Parrish's location in Afghanistan during his U.S Military deployment) — to check on key individuals, not just the men she wanted but, also, the packmates she had every intentions of claiming for herself.

To her, this world was much more dangerous than the Teen Wolf verse typically was. She had to ensure her actions don't ruin her plans, long term. To ensure that they don't, she had decided to check on those key individuals, regardless of distance from her or point in the story they were in.

Had she stayed in the preserve, she would've heard the howl a second time, closer this time. But she didn't. Theo did, though, and he immediately began running home; certain his friends had already made it to their respective homes by now.

After checking in on Garrett, Derek, Liam, Jordan, Isaac and Brett Talbot — And then on members she wanted for her pack, specifically the chimera lineages she enhanced — Madison made sure to stay in the shadows and out of view as she observed them. After making sure they were all alright, Madison teleported home.

She was certain the morning was soon coming and Hazel needed enough sleep to operate at full productivity for the first day of high school.

'Theo's first day of high school is tomorrow as well..,' Madison thought to herself, as she tucked herself into bed, dozing off. 'I wonder if I could really get the men that I want... Is it really possible to build a harem in this world? A harem of men? How would society react to that? Do I really care?'

Despite her doubts, Madison knew what she wanted and she would stop at nothing to get it. She just hope she doesn't ruin any lives in the process of acquiring it.

She knew this world was a more dangerous version of the Teen Wolf show she had watched countless times. She just hoped she had what it took to not just survive it, but thrive in it as well.

As she dozed off, she hadn't noticed that her mind sent out a psychic pulse that did a multitude of things at once. One of those things was latch onto the minds of the men she wanted in her harem, imprinting a psychic mark that would discreetly affect their decision making on a subconscious level, making them open to the idea of being in her harem. It also made harems more sociably accepted on a global scale.

It was a mistake born out of a deep desire within Madison, something that Madison herself hadn't even been conscious of initiating, but, when the time would come to meet these men, she would find herself either contented in a harem she willed into being or overwhelmed by the intense differences of individuality dedicated to her.

The story would continue on as it was always designed to, but 7 male individuals around the globe that night dreamed a most beautiful dream — One of her and of each other…

PS: Author here! I am placing Liam's and Brett's story ahead of its canon placement. This was a decision I've thought about deeply and feel like will enhance the overall story. Additionally, I may be speeding up the story of others as well. Just FYI.
