When Kaien fully absorbed the medicinal effects of the Qi Pill and opened his eyes, he realized night had already fallen.
"It's been that long?" he muttered in surprise, glancing at the dark sky.
He clenched his fists, feeling the Chakra surging within him.
"I'm already at the peak of Special Jonin. Breaking through to Jonin is just one final push."
In a single day, his strength had improved tremendously.
"I won't refine the Fallen Heart Flame here. I'll do it at home," he decided after a brief glance at the flame within his system space.
After all, refining it would generate heart fire. When Xiao Yan refined the Fallen Heart Flame, he even created a Xiao Xiao.
With no women around, Kaien didn't dare refine it recklessly.
With that thought, he left the training ground and headed home.
He hadn't returned for two nights. If he delayed any longer, Mother Kushina would definitely be furious.
"Kaien?" A voice suddenly called out to him.
Turning around, he saw Temari and Shikamaru standing not far away.
"Sister Temari, Brother Shikamaru, what are you doing here?" Kaien asked in surprise.
"Shikamaru finally got a day off today. We're heading to visit Teacher Kurenai. What about you?" Temari replied with a smile.
"I just finished special training and was heading home," Kaien answered.
Shikamaru studied him for a moment and then asked, "You broke through?"
"Yeah… I got lucky. I'm Special Jonin now," Kaien scratched his head, looking modest.
"Hmm. Not bad," Shikamaru nodded. "Naruto mentioned you're planning to take people outside the village to gather intelligence?"
"That's right."
"You're going outside? That's dangerous," Temari said, her brows knitting together in concern.
"Let's walk and talk," Shikamaru suggested.
Kaien hesitated. "Uh… aren't you going to Teacher Kurenai's house? Maybe I shouldn't tag along. We can talk later."
Just the night before last, he had been extremely intimate with Kurenai. If he showed up at her house now, would she strangle him on sight?
And Kushina was still waiting at home…
"Come on, let's walk together. What's there to be shy about?" Temari suddenly hooked her arm around Kaien's and pulled him along.
Kaien glanced awkwardly at Shikamaru before nodding.

As they walked, Shikamaru continued the discussion.
"What's your view on gathering intelligence outside?"

As he spoke, his arm subtly brushed against Temari's soft chest.
This little rascal… Shikamaru is right here, and he's daring to do this…
Temari's face flushed instantly. She lowered her head but tightened her grip around Kaien's arm instead of pulling away.
A strange thrill stirred within her heart.
Shikamaru, oblivious, continued, "Your strength was lacking before. Naruto said Tenten was giving you special training. I didn't expect you to break through in just one day."
"Hehe. That's thanks to Sister Tenten's guidance," Kaien said with a grin.
"Ah!"
Temari suddenly let out a soft cry and staggered. Fortunately, Kaien reacted quickly and wrapped an arm around her slender waist to steady her.
"What's wrong?" Shikamaru asked.
"N-nothing. I stepped on a pebble and twisted my ankle," Temari replied, head lowered, her face burning.
"You're not a child. How do you twist your ankle while walking? Should we head back?" Shikamaru sighed.
"No need. Teacher Kurenai's house is almost there. Just let Kaien support me," Temari insisted.
"Alright."
Kaien helped her up gently. "Sister Temari, be careful."
"Mm…"
They continued walking. The night concealed many things.
Shikamaru didn't notice the faint damp mark where Temari had crouched earlier, nor did he realize that Kaien's hand supporting her waist had slipped inside her clothing.
"Originally, I planned to let you go once you reached Special Jonin. Now that you've taken the first step, consolidate your strength and be ready to depart anytime," Shikamaru continued.
"Understood."
While answering, Kaien's fingers lightly traced along Temari's delicate skin.
Temari made no effort to stop him. If she truly wanted to, she wouldn't have insisted on him supporting her.
"Oh, by the way," Temari suddenly said, "when Kaien leaves the village, I'll go with him."
"You? Why?" Shikamaru asked in confusion.
"You're never home. Didn't you say Sasuke is letting Sakura go? And Hinata is going too? I might as well join them," Temari replied.
Shikamaru thought for a moment before nodding.
He was always buried in Hokage duties. When was the last time he properly stayed home? Even he couldn't remember.
Temari had complained countless times.
If she went out with Kaien—along with Sakura and Hinata—it would ease her boredom and save him from further complaints. A win-win situation.
"Fine."
"Hiss… my foot really hurts. I need to rest a bit," Temari suddenly bent forward slightly.
"Teacher Kurenai's house is right there. Can you endure it?" Shikamaru pointed ahead.
