Chapter 19 - Act 2 Chapter 19 — A truth that is still unclear

Silence reigned around them, no one spoke a word. The only sound was the wind, and even the rustling of leaves and grass.

At that moment, Infori broke the silence by saying—

"...I heard him say, 'If only he hadn't chosen the wrong box—this wouldn't be possible.'"

"Choosing... the box?"

"I don't know for sure, but that's all I can tell you."

Although he had received an answer, it wasn't a definitive one. Flynn wasn't satisfied with it, but he could only accept it.

"...I see," Flynn said, then let out a short sigh. "Haah... I wish I knew more about this."

"Why don't you ask him?" Infori asked, simply trying to confirm whether Flynn's curiosity would yield a definitive answer.

(I shouldn't have said that... All Nephilim know that interfering in the affairs or duties of a Seraphim is forbidden by the Seraphim themselves. I just wanted to know if Flynn could break free from that law.)

Upon hearing that, Flynn immediately realized his position as a Nephilim who simply wanted to obey the established rules.

"Perhaps that would be possible if there were no rules at all. Unfortunately, the world has rules that have been around for a long time," Flynn said. "I won't risk it just to get one answer."

"You're right, especially now that you're captain of the Knightley Queen. Obeying the rules is one of your most important obligations."

"Yes."

A few seconds later, they were descending the hill. They were making light conversation, keeping the atmosphere light and quiet.

By the time they reached the expanse of grass where the Gauntlet of Rebirth had gone out of control, it was now empty, with only the two of them left.

The bandits had been taken, while Lilith and Iris had gone to calm down.

Flynn looked back.

"So, what are you going to do next, Infori?"

Infori gave Flynn a decidedly unsatisfactory answer, which caused Flynn to sigh.

"Finding food throughout the world is my main goal now."

"Haah... Come on, I can tell from the look in your eyes that you're lying. Red eyes always give away something that's definitely not good," Flynn said with a small smile.

Hearing this made Infori chuckle.

"Haha. Well, you never liked my red eyes," Infori said, then realized something and immediately asked Flynn about it. "Besides, shouldn't Captain Knightley Queen be in Storm Queen City?"

"I was tasked with finding bandits who have been troubling the adventurers in the city lately, and I didn't expect them to deceive a Seraphim as well."

"I see. So, are you going back to the city?"

"Of course, I have to report this to the higher-ups. They're being held at the Storm of Road office."

At that moment, Infori found an opening. He then expressed his opinion to Flynn.

"Then, can I come with you when you return to Storm Queen City? Well, you know. Our goals are the same."

"Sure. That's not a bad idea."

"Good."

After feeling satisfied with his brief interrogation, Flynn decided to head to the Storm of Road office to check on the captured bandits.

"Okay, then I'll take my leave. I still have some business to attend to."

"Yes."

Flynn then turned around and continued walking, leaving Infori there alone. He also left Infori feeling both confused and relieved at the same time.

Infori breathed a sigh of relief, knowing everything that had happened before her was over. He lowered hos head and closed his eyes.

"Haah..."

After that, he opened his eyes again and raised his head. And realized he was now alone in that place.

(So... Now what?)

A few minutes later, Infori had returned to the Storm of Road intersection. He looked around, noticing that the night had become increasingly quiet.

In fact, the people here could be counted on one hand.

"..."

Infori then walked to the left, meaning he was now heading towards the plaza of Storm of Road. However, as he walked, he accidentally bumped into a man, well, maybe he looked like an ordinary man...

Unfortunately, not—

"...?!" Infori was startled, sensing something amiss. (What was that?)

The man passed Infori, walking like any other pedestrian. However, this only made Infori suspicious. Instantly, he looked back.

At that moment, the man suddenly disappeared.
