Chapter 22 - Act 1 Chapter 3 — Seriously...?!

A perfectly round object, covered in iron, was missing a small sphere in the center.

It was so small it could fit in even a small pocket. The small sphere flickered with a blue light emanating from its interior.

It alternately turned on and off, even emitting a somewhat startling beeping sound.

This interrupted the conversation between Infori and Flynn.

"..."

Flynn took the object from the pocket of his black coat, specifically located inside his coat. After removing it, it continued to flicker and beep repeatedly.

Infori was quite impressed by the object, examining it closely. However, his eyes weren't overly surprised, as if he had seen it many times before.

"That thing..." Infori whispered.

"Knightley Road..." Flynn said quietly.

Infori tilted his head slightly upwards and stared at Flynn. Then, Flynn closed his eyes. He tried to focus on the energy of Knightley Road—Nephilim don't actually possess magical energy within their bodies or souls, but rather, they can sense magical energy from artifacts or objects.

By harnessing the magical energy radiating from an object, a Nephilim can use the artifact in a specific way. This is by absorbing its magic and then releasing it back to its source.

"..."

Just like Flynn was doing now, he was absorbing magical energy that could only be felt without being seen. He absorbed it into his body, then released it back into the sphere on Knightley Road.

The sphere then synchronized with Flynn's body, and then glowed a bright blue.

From the sphere, a light radiated that was now visible to their eyes. The light formed a letter in the air, floating unfettered by gravity.

Infori was once again impressed by the sight.

"Wow..."

"The Knightley Queen's office in the plaza sent me a message. This is exactly what I was going to tell you."

The message was short:

— Captain Flynn Deschain, we apologize for disappointing you, but... We need your help to capture the bandits who escaped from the detention cell last night. They even kidnapped one of the two victims they tricked last night. —

Infori was shocked to read the message. He hadn't expected them to escape the guard of the knights in the plaza. In fact, he was quite shocked to hear that Lilith and Iris had been kidnapped by them.

"Huh?!"

"Now you know, Infori. I have something I must do."

"Wait, how did you know they would escape?"

"I didn't know, I just predicted."

Infori was immediately confused.

"Predicted?"

"Takechi and his companions should still be detained at the Knightley Queen's office in the capital, Storm Queen City, for harming an adventurer in the safe zone."

"...?!"

"That's why I was sent to take care of them."

Infori finally understood the situation. The man named Takechi and his associates, who had always deceived adventurers, had been detained at Knightley Queen headquarters for their actions. And now, they were free again.

What's more, they had kidnapped one of the Seraphim who was still in the process of completing their assignment.

(This is a mess, isn't it...)

"You could have gone ahead without me, Infori. But it seems something has moved you to stop sitting still," Flynn said confidently.

"Heh, well, you know what I mean, right?" Infori replied with equal confidence.

"Alright then. Let's move."

Flynn then ran back to the path leading to the plaza, Infori following closely behind. At this point, Infori had already retrieved her bag from the bench, so she was ready for anything to happen.
