MIREYA POV
We were walking in groups, leaving the training grounds behind, heading toward the mountains of Brasshall.
The air felt different out here… cooler, sharper. The mountains loomed ahead, their peaks hidden in mist. My stomach twisted.
Kaela walked beside me, practically bouncing with excitement. Her eyes were bright.
"Can you believe this?" she whispered. "We're actually going to get to see Unbonded dragons… Faye, this is insane!"
I forced a small smile. "Yeah… " It's insane," I said, though my voice felt shaky.
She frowned. "You still look off. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," I said too quickly. "Just… nervous."
It was true, but only part of the truth. My mind was still tangled with last night… the whispers, the warning, Jax. What if something really happens to him?
"Hey…"
I turned, and he was there.
Kael.
Walking beside me.
My steps slowed without meaning to. My heart picked up… for a different reason this time.
