MIREYA POV
I didn't sleep at all.
I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, my thoughts going in circles.
Poison… Jax… the end of him…
My chest tightened.
What if it were real? Did I really hear that… or was my mind playing tricks on me?
What if it wasn't?
I couldn't risk telling Jax. Not yet. I didn't even know who I heard… or if anyone was truly there.
Morning came too fast.
Before I knew it, I was dressed and walking through the hall. Everything looked normal… too normal. Guards stood in their places. People walked past like nothing was wrong. Like everything was fine.
But it wasn't.
Not to me.
Not after knowing someone might want Jax dead.
My stomach twisted.
Today was combat training… with the dragon riders from Eldoria.
Great.
I could barely think straight, and now I had to fight.
I walked toward the training grounds, my thoughts scattered, my chest tight.
"Hey, Faye."
A hand touched my arm.
I flinched, turning quickly.
