The Lost Vampire System Chapter 48 - Identity Revealed
Outside of NYXIS, in a dark room, a door opened from a private gaming box. The person in a light green military hoodie could be seen as she frantically took off her gear, her headpiece still on her head. She struggled slightly as her nerves got to her.
"He was above me," she said in excitement. "He was above me this entire time. We're freaking the same age. AGH!"
She had gotten everything else off and finally removed her headset, which made her hood fall back, revealing her smiling face. She had a face that instantly drew you in. Warm hazel-brown eyes, large and expressive, framed by dark lashes and soft, gently arched brows. A small silver stud glinted on the left side of her straight nose. Her smile came easily, full, naturally rosy lips curving into something genuine that reached her eyes and brought out faint dimples in her cheeks. Her skin was clear and golden. Long, wavy chestnut hair with caramel highlights framed her oval face, a few loose strands falling softly against her jaw. Pretty in that effortless, sun-kissed way that felt both warm and quietly magnetic.
If anyone noticed her, they would think she was really cute, but most wouldn't since she often liked to wear a hoodie. She didn't like when people looked at her, but right now that wasn't on her mind as she ran toward her computer and accessed her two ai's.
She pulled up the scan of Jareth, and only her dad's ai was able to access it as something was blocking hers.
"I need to work on that," she muttered as her hazel-brown eyes turned green while the screen started opening files and going through them at a rapid speed until it stopped, showing a picture of the gaming box, that Jareth was in.
"See you soon, Jareth," she giggled in excitement as she grabbed a block on her desk, which was a nano box, and it morphed onto her body as she left her room.
Back in NYXIS, the person known as CopyLord had just said his name like they were friends. Damion had a disguise on, so he didn't know the true identity of CopyLord.
Jareth thought to Apollo. "How does he know us?"
"I don't know," Apollo said, "but some of his abilities look like a Nephilim's abilities, like your system said he was. There is a chance this might be Damion, but if it is, he is not this strong in the real world."
"Who are you?" Jareth asked as he was about to jump into a white circle to get out of here.
Damion looked at Jareth like he was crazy until it clicked.
"Oh, my disguise," he said in realization as he brought his voice to a whisper. "Jareth, I am your friend Damion."
The Vampiric's eyes widened as this confirmed Apollo's not-so-sure theory.
"Don't look so surprised," Damion said. "I'm only this strong because of this armor. If I had this in real life, I'd be a faction leader."
"You almost killed my game body with your rampage that I was a little too motion sick to see."
"Er, right, ha ha," Damion chuckled nervously as he rubbed his hair. "I kind of forgot that you don't die in real life if you die in the game. Just know I was always aiming at her left side since she was holding you in her right."
"I don't think you know your in-game power very well," Jareth questioned Damion's understanding of his strength.
"Maybe not," Damion agreed.
"Jar—, er, I mean CrimsonDawn," Madison's voice came from the side as she ran in. "Are you—whoa, CopyLord!"
She skidded to a halt as she recognized the destructive player.
"Hello, Madison," Damion said like she also knew who he was.
She looked back and forth between the two, and her smoke form started to come out.
"We have no association with CyberGirl," Madison said as she got in a defensive position.
"Why are you? Oh," he exclaimed as he recognized the exact same scenario. "My disguise."
"Yeah," Jareth said. "He's in our group, but I don't want to say his real name in front of the group behind him."
Damion and Madison looked at where Jareth was pointing to see a huge crowd being led by Gwendolyn. That's when Madison made the connection of who CopyLord was.
Damion, she thought? How is he so strong? It must be that armor.
"She saw me," Jareth said. "She knows who I am."
"What?" Madison asked.
"She used the artifact on me and knows now."
"Damn it," Madison said. "Let's talk in the real world about this."
"Yeah, get out of here," Damion ordered the two. "Do whatever you guys are talking about. I can deal with the crowd, since I'm the one who put up the active bounty."
The two nodded as they each jumped into a circle and were beamed up out of NYXIS. Jareth found himself back in the gaming box. He started to take his stuff off as he no longer had any desire to go to NYXIS, especially after everything that had happened.
She saw me, he thought as he was still taking his things off. What am I supposed to do?
"What can we do?" Apollo asked as Jareth's frantic thoughts were getting projected to him. "Our best and, unfortunately, our only option is to contact her. She did say she suspected she needed you but wanted to confirm who you were."
"Did she know who I was or just suspect I have a trait she needed?" Jareth questioned out loud since no one else was listening.
"I'm going to say it's something she needs, as she said she wanted to confirm you weren't a spy."
"What was the last thing she said before she beamed herself up?" Jareth asked Apollo. "I didn't quite catch that."
Apollo remained silent.
"Apollo," Jareth said, trying to get the god's attention.
"I think she said we were above her," the god said. "That would mean if whatever she scanned us with told her all the correct information, she is a student in this building."
"A student?" Jareth questioned as he took off his headset. "So, she created the game when she was nine!" he exclaimed.
He opened the door and found himself face to face with someone Jareth would describe as "cute." She had warm hazel-brown eyes, large and expressive, framed by dark lashes and soft, gently arched brows. A small silver stud glinted on the left side of her straight nose. She looked to be around 5'4, with her skin clear and golden. Long, wavy chestnut hair with caramel highlights framed her oval face.
"Hello, Jareth," she said as the left side of her lip raised. "Let me confirm."
Something that looked like an earpiece on her right ear morphed out to cover her right eye. The machine moving like that only looked like one thing.
"That's CyberGirl," Apollo exclaimed before Jareth could confirm his thought with him. "It must be."
A thin green beam shot out from her mask, sweeping over his body in sharp, precise horizontal lines, then vertical ones. It stopped as the scanning lines vanished.
"Jareth Nightshade, also known as CrimsonDawn through your earlier scan," the male voice of her dad's ai said out loud so they both could hear.
She smiled, which made Jareth's heart skip, until her smile vanished as she heard the next part.
"Be advised," it continued. "Vampire DNA detected. The person might be a vampire."
Her eyes, which were looking at the floor while listening to her dad's ai, slowly looked up towards Jareth with an expression that would make anyone think that she saw something scary.
"Now, hold on," Jareth tried to say, but she raised her right arm and a chunk of moving nano parts shot out, wrapping around Jareth's neck.
He tried to swat it off, but it stopped moving and a red light was blinking at the front.
"I don't know much about whatever my ai told me," she said in slight fright. "You try and remove that and it will explode. That should at least slow you down some."
"Slow me down," Jareth said in a panic. "This thing will kill me."
"Then you better not mess with it and follow my instructions if you want me to trust what you are."
Jareth stopped moving, and that's when the gaming box next to him opened up and Madison stepped out.
Madison looked the same as in the game except she was wearing her military uniform and didn't have her purple hair. She looked at the two of them with a confused expression on her face until the new girl's high-tech-looking earpiece morphed into nano parts and went back to her right ear. Madison's eyes widened in realization around the same time CyberGirl connected the dots too.
"demonicMadison1," she said in slight shock. "You're both my age."
Madison looked back at Jareth and noticed the collar around his neck with a blinking red light. Jareth looked like he wanted to rip the collar off, but for some reason he wasn't.
"What is that, CyberGirl?" Madison asked as smoke started to cover her entire body and hardened to form a black beast with black eyes.
"What the—"
CyberGirl tried to say, but Madison leapt at her with great speed. CyberGirl transformed her arm into a smaller cannon than the one in her game and shot out multiple ropes that wrapped around her body, and it started to shock her as she collapsed onto the ground. She then pointed the gun at Jareth, who raised his hands up.
"Remember what that will do to you," she said as she grabbed his arm and pulled him along. "We're going to my room."
The two of them made their way to the elevator and got on. There was no one else on the elevator as she pressed floor 15. The doors closed and the number went from seventeen to sixteen and then to fifteen. The doors opened and she dragged him out into the hallway. Unlike his floor, the doors of each room were farther apart as this was the girls' VIP floor. She dragged him down the left hallway.
"The last time you were in the elevator," Jareth began. "Were you wearing a hoodie?"
She looked at him with a confused face, then it clicked in her head.
"Dang," she muttered, which Jareth could easily hear. "You were there."
"CyberGirl, you created the game when you were nine?" Jareth asked. "Why didn't you reveal who you were?"
"Enough questions, Jareth," CyberGirl said. "Also, you don't have to call me CyberGirl. My name is Arden."
Jareth kept his mouth shut as they took another left, which was at the bottom left of the H part of the building.
"Let me take over," Apollo ordered. "Unlike you, I have more skills and power than what you currently possess."
Can you destroy the collar before it kills us? Jareth thought to Apollo.
He stayed silent for a moment before he answered.
"Fine, you try to talk your way out of it, but if it goes south, let me take over. If it does go off, I have a better chance of surviving it if I'm in control."
What's the difference between me being in control vs you? Jareth thought to Apollo. It's still my body.
"It's the god's presence and will," Apollo answered. "When I'm in control, my god energy surrounds your body. Unfortunately for me, I can't be in control for very long."
Jareth could feel his body being yanked as she turned right to the last door in the hall.
"Here we are," Arden announced as she opened the door and went inside.
