Chapter 18 - First world

In the middle of the night , Riley stood infront of the pitch black ominous portal to a world of phsychotic Vampires and a really hardcore Monster hunter.

He had packed a backpack of snacks and some basic survival gear which was technically useless given that he had the inventory but he enjoyed the simplicity of it.

This was similar to a vacation to Riley after all, just one where Vampires swooped down from the sky to carry people off and werewolves bounded out of forests in a murderous rage.

Anyone else would probably be taking this very seriously but Riley was more focused on his outfit , white sneakers , white knee length shorts and a dark brown shirt reached way below her waist.

He had even bought a couple of chewing gum packs so he could fight the potential boredom of a medieval world.

In all fairness , this entire thing wasn't dangerous to Riley at his current level and he clearly knew that so his main aim was fun and collecting all sorts of cool stuff through character sign ins.

After making sure he was ready , Riley stepped right into the portal and the effect was immediate. His body suddenly shot out at an insane speed through what looked like a tunnel of spinning multicolored energy.

After a few seconds of holding on to consciousness with sheer willpower , everything went dark for about a minute and by the time Riley's vision cleared he was standing on the railing at the edge of a canal.

Even with the street lights around the area , a surprising amount of darkness still covered almost everything appearing to push back against the light.

Though he was curious about his surroundings , Riley's attention was pulled to a man crouching over a dead girl's body making the sign of the cross.

It was a perfect replica of the scene he remembered from the Van Hellsing movie.

'The left hand of God himself , Van Hellsing.'

Obviously a hunter of Van hellsing's calliber wouldn't lack the senses to perceive Riley standings about 2 metres away so his hand went straight to his hip and he glared suspiciously at Riley.

"What are you doing here , and where are your parents?"

As expected , the famous Van Hellsing didn't know how to talk to a child. His voice remained as threatening and suspicious as ever , which would honestly have made any normal child cry and get scared.

"Relax , I know who you are Van Hellsing. I am here to help you.

Quick question though , have you ever hunted a wraith , are they actually intangible... " answered Riley

Hearing Riley's still underdeveloped childish voice , Van Hellsing's gaurd dropped and he just started staring at the unbelievably cute child.

Riley didn't even show the smallest ounce of fear or worry and instead scanned Van Hellsing intensely. This man was the legendary monster hunter himself and Riley couldn't help but show some admiration and even respect.

He could literally do anything else like settling into a peaceful immortal life without any monsters , constant pain and wounds from creatures far beyond him , yet he still hunts and without any truly useful help from the people who benefited most.

Heaven basically looked through their vast treasures and near Omnipotent power and decided to make him a low budget wolverine , without any claws of his own , then told him to go to war with their enemy who are all monstrous beings , and he is actually doing it.

That kind of willpower and his aura farming while fighting monsters is pretty much enough for Riley to atleast respect him.

While Riley was still asking about wraiths they both heard a loud laugh and turned to look at the nearby church. Mr. Hyde was climbing up and returning to his hideout.

"I guess that's your guy , let's go get him."

Before Riley could take a step though , Van Hellsing carried him and started walking away from the church instead.

"I don't know how you know me but that doesn't matter. I am not going to catch a monster with a child so where do you live , be quick about it I don't have all night."

Riley wasn't actually surprised because it would have been strange if the monster hunter just took him along.

Now it was time to convince him with his capabilities and he already had something in mind. As Van Hellsing carried Riley away on his shoulder , Riley suddenly tuned into a thick beam of light and shot out of the monster hunter's grip then landed right back onto the railing.

Van Hellsing turned around with concealed surprise in his eyes , since Riley's movement at the speed of Light was basically invisible to the naked eye , all that Van hellsing saw was a brief momentary flash of light before Riley vanished from his shoulders.

"You dont need to worry about me , I can take care of myself. Now hurry up , let's go get the big guy."

Riley had already reached the bridge by the time Van hellsing caught up but this time his gaurd was fully up again and he suspiciously eyed Riley from the corner of his eyes.

"Aren't you going to ask me anything , we can't walk in silence you know , it's not healthy."

That was a complete lie and Riley actually liked silence probably way more than the average person but he just wanted to make Van Hellsing talk and maybe answer his questions about monsters.

"Are you human."

Though his voice was flat when he asked , Riley could sense the subtle hints of threat and hardness in his question. He was ready to end Riley right there if he answered wrong.

Riley turned to the monster hunter and smiled then playfully said "Maybe let's save that question for later. Try a different question."

Van Hellsing stared at Riley for few seconds probably debating wether to let it go or not then he ultimately just sighed and ignored Riley completely to focus on Mr. Hyde since they had reached the church.

'He is really tired of life. Good thing I am here , he can take a break for now.'

While they climbed stairs , Riley finally turned his attention to the screen that had been floating infront of him since he saw the Monster hunter.
