Chapter 118 - The Ancient One's Return Visit

"Breaking and entering is illegal, Ancient One. Couldn't you have just used the front door?"

Chen Ye stood in his spacious living room, helplessly watching the Ancient One suddenly appear before him. He picked up his tea set and began brewing tea.

*"The nerve of her! The first time she at least appeared at the restaurant door, but this time she just teleported straight into my house. Does having a portal make her think she can do whatever she wants? What if I was doing something private? How awkward would it be if she suddenly showed up?"* Chen Ye grumbled inwardly.

The Ancient One seemed to sense his complaint. She smiled and said, "I did notify you. You should be the most sensitive to spatial fluctuations now. Didn't you go upstairs immediately?"

Chen Ye's hand paused mid-pour at her words. He thought,

*"I forgot about that old bald guy, but I didn't forget the Ancient One can read minds! Wait a minute, I remember having Deadpool's skills, which are supposed to make me immune to all mental attacks."*

The Ancient One seemed to read Chen Ye's mind. She smiled and shook her head. "Don't worry, I can't read your mind. In fact, I can't read the minds of several of you. I don't know how you managed to gather them all together."

Chen Ye didn't believe a word she said. Her claim about not being able to read minds was already a contradiction in itself.

Still, he remained confident in his System and his own abilities.

Setting down his teacup, he sat across from the Ancient One and joked, "We're just a bunch of not-so-bad bad guys huddling together for warmth. Maybe the reason we're together is because I offer free room and board?"

Chen Ye wasn't sure whether it was due to the System or his own influence, but he felt his circle of friends was steadily growing. From just him and Deadpool at the beginning, they now had a group of people with all sorts of abilities.

Perhaps it was the unique atmosphere here that made them feel safe and comfortable.

Chen Ye chuckled inwardly at his own thought: *Still too soft-hearted. If I charged them rent and food, they probably wouldn't have stayed.*

He chuckled and shook his head, amused by his own thoughts.

The Ancient One observed Chen Ye's expression, a flicker of admiration in her eyes. She knew that despite his claims of not being a good person, this young man was actually filled with kindness and a strong sense of justice.

This was one of the reasons she had chosen to cooperate with Chen Ye.

*Perhaps this is fate's design. I'm growing old.*

*Perhaps my previous assumptions were wrong. Strange following Chen Ye might actually be a good idea.*

The Ancient One thought to herself. She believed that when this group came together, they would undoubtedly forge their own era.

"I never expected you to possess an Infinity Stone. It seems you've already mastered the power of the Space Stone," the Ancient One said, her voice tinged with surprise. Her gaze drifted downward as if she could see through the floor to the first-floor restaurant.

As a fellow wielder of an Infinity Stone, she should have been cultivating at Kamar-Taj. Yet she had suddenly sensed the presence of another Infinity Stone and, with a slight effort, arrived in Hell's Kitchen.

However, when she opened her portal, she was astonished to find that she couldn't directly reach the first-floor restaurant.

This situation was unprecedented, leaving the Ancient One utterly perplexed. With no other option, she set the portal to the second floor.

As she materialized upstairs, she immediately sensed a powerful spatial force.

She saw the first-floor restaurant enveloped in an invisible spatial barrier, as if it had become a world unto itself.

Ordinary people could enter without hindrance, but those with malicious intent couldn't take a single step inside. Even Spatial Magic proved useless against this barrier.

Seeing this, the Ancient One mistakenly assumed Chen Ye had mastered the power of the Space Stone and created a safe space for himself. She was inwardly stunned, marveling at Chen Ye's talent—whether it was learning teleportation after a single glance last time or now wielding the Space Stone's power.

*Could Chen Ye truly be a genius? To master the Space Stone so quickly?* the Ancient One thought in astonishment.

She was well aware that the last time she visited, Chen Ye hadn't yet possessed the Space Stone. This meant he had gone from acquiring it to skillfully wielding its power in less than a month, perhaps even less.

She, after all, was hailed as a genius at Kamar-Taj and even held the title of Sorcerer Supreme. Yet it had taken her decades to master the Time Stone's abilities.

*Could this man truly be more suited to becoming the next Sorcerer Supreme than Strange?*

"So, Ancient One, are you here today about the Space Stone?" Chen Ye asked, breaking the silence.

He had sensed her purpose long ago.

"I'm just borrowing it. I'll return it in a couple of days."

Chen Ye didn't possess the Space Stone's power, nor was he interested in it. All of this could only be attributed to the System's influence.

Ancient One shook her head and continued, "That's only part of the reason. Recently, due to your actions, our universe's timeline has been destabilized. You should be aware that even stronger enemies lie ahead."

"You and the people downstairs aren't enough to handle everything. It's best not to be too ruthless."

Chen Ye understood what the Ancient One meant. She was referring to his recent skirmishes with S.H.I.E.L.D. and his interference with Tony joining the Avengers. She was asking him to show mercy to both organizations.

Chen Ye didn't agree. He looked at the Ancient One and said firmly, "I don't provoke others, but if they provoke me, I will retaliate!"

"Ancient One, you know I'm not one to seek trouble. I just want to protect my family and Hell's Kitchen."

After a moment of silence, the Ancient One acknowledged his point. She knew he was right; trouble always found him.

"Try not to kill too many. My time is running out, and the next Sorcerer Supreme will have to handle things," she said with resignation.

"Why don't you become the Sorcerer Supreme yourself? I think you're more suited for it than Strange," she continued, trying to persuade him.

Chen Ye's strength and capabilities made him more suitable for the role of Sorcerer Supreme than Strange.

Hearing this, Chen Ye hastily waved his hand in refusal. "You know me, I just want to stay in Hell's Kitchen. Why don't you move the New York Sanctum here, Ancient One? That way, I could keep an eye on it."

Chen Ye had no interest in becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, but he was very interested in the New York Sanctum, which had stood for a thousand years. It contained many treasures he coveted, though he knew such a request was impossible.

After all, the New York Sanctum had stood in its place for millennia without changing; how could it possibly be moved just because he asked?

What surprised Chen Ye was that the Ancient One didn't immediately refuse. Instead, she looked thoughtful.
