Black Egg hadn't expected Carol to be so eager to jump into action. She'd barely returned to Earth before wanting to immediately start a mission.
"Don't rush," he said. "Rest first and get back to your best. I'll introduce you to my newly assembled Avengers and explain my plan."
Carol frowned. She understood Nick Fury's meaning, but the anxiety in her heart was hard to quell.
She knew that there were countless matters beyond Earth that required her attention. She couldn't stay here long.
She desperately wanted to resolve the crisis on Earth and return to the cosmos to resume her duties as a cosmic police officer.
Seeing her reluctance, Black Egg reassured her, "Take your time. You've finally come home—you should rest for a few days and reconnect with your hometown. You haven't eaten yet, have you? My treat. While we're at it, you can tell me about your adventures in the universe."
She knew this old friend was looking out for her, wanting her to find a moment of peace here.
Seeing this, Carol had no choice but to nod and follow Nick Fury out.
As Black Egg led Carol away, he continued to ponder.
Even with Carol, a secret trump card, back in play, Black Egg remained wary of Chen Ye.
This wasn't due to any lack of confidence in Carol's abilities. The recent events at S.H.I.E.L.D. had only heightened Black Egg's vigilance toward Chen Ye.
Black Egg harbored deep reservations about Chen Ye. Strictly speaking, they had no personal animosity between them.
Black Egg simply viewed Chen Ye and his base in Hell's Kitchen as destabilizing factors—unpredictable elements beyond the control of the federal government and ordinary citizens like himself. However, if Chen Ye were to cooperate, he and his influence could become an undeniable force.
Even though the recent incident at S.H.I.E.L.D. was likely to cost him his position as director, Black Egg harbored no hatred toward Chen Ye.
If Chen Ye joined the Avengers, his previous rampage at S.H.I.E.L.D. and Captain America's lingering resentment would pale in comparison to the threat facing Earth.
Now that Carol had returned, Black Egg planned to approach Chen Ye again and try to persuade him to join the Avengers. If Chen Ye refused a second time, Black Egg would have no choice but to go all out to eliminate Chen Ye and his forces.
Black Egg saw no other option. He could either eliminate Chen Ye or recruit him to keep his position as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Carol noticed Black Egg suddenly stop and frowned slightly. "What's wrong? Why did you stop?" she asked, her eyes scanning the surroundings warily for any hidden enemies. She sensed no hostility.
Black Egg looked up at the gloomy sky and said calmly, "It's going to rain."
He continued walking, leaving Carol momentarily stunned.
Carol studied the sky. *It doesn't look like it's going to rain at all,* she thought. *It was perfectly fine when I flew back.*
She quickly hurried to catch up.

On the other side, Chen Ye finished explaining the origins and functions of the six Infinity Stones.
The crowd listened spellbound, imagining themselves becoming invincible beings, wielding cosmic power, and reaching the pinnacle of their lives. These visions made their hearts race and their blood surge.
Deadpool reacted most enthusiastically. He clung tightly to Chen Ye's leg as if he had glimpsed the path to his dreams.
His eyes gleamed with manic intensity as he urgently asked, "My dear Mr. Chen Ye, you must know where the Mind Stone is! Tell me! I want it!"
After hearing about all six Infinity Stones, Deadpool immediately set his sights on the Mind Stone. He thought to himself, "With the Mind Stone, I can have any beautiful woman I want."
"But would too many beauties be too much? One beauty per hour... that's only 24 a day."
"Looks like I'll need to master time management. If that doesn't work, I'll just have to take them all at once."
As these thoughts raced through his mind, Deadpool unconsciously drooled, his saliva dripping onto Chen Ye's leg.
Chen Ye felt a dampness and kicked Deadpool away with a disgusted motion.
Though Deadpool remained silent, Chen Ye could clearly sense his thoughts.
Wanda and Pietro were secretly wondering if obtaining the Time Stone could save their adoptive parents.
Yet neither dared to ask Chen Ye, knowing that if he possessed the ability or the stone, he would surely share it with them.
Chen Ye's silence confirmed that the Time Stone could not save their adoptive parents.
Instead, Harry, who had lost his father, eagerly pressed Chen Ye: "Mr. Chen Ye, do you know where the Time Stone is? If we obtain it, can it save my father?"
As soon as Harry spoke, many who had lost loved ones turned to Chen Ye with hopeful eyes: Sandman, who had lost his daughter; John Wick and Doctor Octopus, who had lost their wives; and Tony, who had lost his parents.
Chen Ye frowned, then shook his head. "First, I do know where the Time Stone is. It's in the hands of someone I might not even be able to defeat."
He wasn't sure he could defeat the Ancient One himself, as she was truly unfathomable.
"Second, the Time Stone can't save your father. This is a bit complicated to explain."
"In simple terms, you can travel back in time to save your father, but when you return to your own world, he still won't be there."
Chen Ye then explained the concept of spacetime paradoxes to them.
"Third, the universe you're from, Harry, might be different from ours. I'm not sure if there are Infinity Stones there. Of course, you could try searching for them."
Chen Ye was genuinely unsure if the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man Universe contained any Infinity Stones, as it lacked the Ancient One and other superheroes.
Tony, meanwhile, was already racking his brain and asked, "Are there really only six Infinity Stones? Could there be a seventh one?"
Chen Ye hadn't expected Tony to ask such a question and gave him a pitying look.
Tony, seeing the pity in Chen Ye's eyes, was utterly bewildered.
Chen Ye thought, *Of course, there's still the seventh Knowledge Gem. It's probably right inside your head.*
But before he could voice this thought, Chen Ye suddenly seemed to sense something. He stood up.
He announced loudly to the group, "Alright, that's enough for today's discussion. It's time to prepare for dinner. Everyone, get to know each other. In the future, we'll be comrades fighting side-by-side. I'll be upstairs for a moment."
The group watched Chen Ye's hurried departure, their hearts full of curiosity and questions, but no one ventured to ask further.
They began to converse, deepening their mutual understanding.
Chen Ye returned to his room and opened the door to find a bald figure seated inside—the Ancient One.
He wasn't surprised by her presence. He had already sensed the peculiar energy fluctuations earlier, the unmistakable magical aura of the Ancient One. He was only curious as to why she had come.
Chen Ye smiled faintly at the Ancient One and asked, "Ancient One, is there something important you need today?"
